10Months Out Ate My First Cheeaeburger Today
pasquini posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
K well, i didn't eat the whole cheese burger. Lol, i ate half, and only the meat and toppings. Not the bun. My second oldest and i went to Nic's Grill in OKC it was features on "Dinner, Drive-in's, and Dives" it was good, and i could have eaten the bread if i had desired, funny thing is i didnt really care. So, what is my point? Well, yes there does come a time after surgery when u really can eat whatever u want. Both physically and mentally. Its a great place to be. Notice however i mentioned this was my 1st burger. 10 months out and 12lbs below goal. So, i read a post here and there where someone is saddened that they cant eat this or that at 5, 10, 12 weeks out. My thoughts on this are (no i dont think i am an expert or know everyones circumstances) we made a choice to force a change into our lives. Sticking to a healthy eating plan should be a given! Why try to eat burgers and queso and cake and all that when u have not made goal, this tool is amazing, it works. And it works even better if we are focused and diligent. Did i cheat here and there? Heck yes, margaritas are a weakness but if I paid for it in a stall, or a pain in the gut, i understood why and how to correct it. Now, here i am fighting the old demons as i order my with splenda! Did i mention im 12lbs below goal? I run 3 miles 3 times a week an 10 miles on saturday, the truth is i can eat whatever i want now. And mostly what i want is good clean fuel for this new amazing body i woke up in!! You can get there, you can find that place where u can eat whatever, just in smaller portions. But it takes some time and work. It takes remembering that nothing tastes as good as thin. I know this isnt as feel good as my normal encouragent post. I mean for it to be, i also mean for it to be a positive way to view where your headed and motivation to stay the course. If your just starting out push forward dont give up, refocus when u lose track and fight for the beat version of you to crawl out of your old self! GodSpeed Pasquini -

A plication is a slightly differant proceedure. They do not remove the stoma, but instead fold it into itself and sew it there. In theory it doesnt leak because it wasnt cut. However, the sutures can leak and there is some debate on the hormone ghrelin (hunger hormone) still being produce. In the non-plocation approach 85 percent of the stomach is actually cut away and removed. The the remaing is sew back together. In this proceedure the early stages are the time to be watchful for leaks. But it also remove the portion of the stomach that produces ghrelin. In my case i have not felt hungery sine may 10th last year. :-)

No reason to feel guilty watching it. :-) heck u have to tool to control it now! You are gonna love this new life! I started walking and jogging small amount at 3 months out and as i got smaller i fell in love with it. -
First let me say 85lbs is a huge success!!!! That a large dog! Go ahead pick uo a neighbors large dog and lug it around a day or two and see if you feel u have failed when u notice the differance. :-) celabrate the success you have had thus far. 2nd are you journaling everything you eat and drink? I mean everything? If not you have to start there is no way to adjust unless you have a true picture of what is going on. 3rd why in the world are you going a month without weighing? I know this is against the grain of some on here but when i was in my losing phase i was in the scale daily. It served as the best reminder of where i was and where i had been. It also allowed me to see how the foods, salt intake, liquid in take effected me daily. The scale was my friend, not rhat i always liked what it read, but because it gauged my eating and held me accountable. Daily weighing may not work for you but for me it was a must to keep my head focused. Also if something isnt working and you don't know for weeks at a time then you are missing opportunities to adapt your diet and exercise. Personally i think the minimum one should go is every 3 days. (i have my reasons but too much to type on this tiny phones keyboard). At least then you can adjust or maintain. Waiting a month is lost opportunity. With all that said remember u have lost a really big dog already!!! Thats awesome and a success

My son (14) on seeing me come to the pool with out a shirt for the first time. He stops and stares and I cringe inside, then he says, "ok Dad, 1st, you have lost ALOT of weight!, 2nd, you look great!!! And then he smile this goofy im proud o my dad smile. -
I wasnt given a goal. I pick 170 out of the air (i was 220 at 16 an 2 inches shorter). I made 170 in dec, and decided id readjust to 160 since that would put me 4 lbs inside normal bmi. Im 158 now and shocked, amazed, and still cant call myself thin. Lol. U'll get there, stay focused eat clean and move move move.

I Definitely Regret Surgery.... So Far!
pasquini replied to jasleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Couple things to consider, I could not tolerate ANY vitamins for two months. They all turned my stomach and left me ill. I stopped trying to take them and that helped a lot. Now i can tolerate anything. Try fish, not fried it is easier on me than shakes. You mentioned in one post that u get 50-100 oz o fluid. That is a huge swing!! 50 isnt enough and 100 is just inside good so the days ur at or near 50 your deficit is to great for the good days to cover. Try to get in 80 minimum everyday. The thing is from what you have discribe your surgeon cant do anything to help but an iv. You havent discribed anything that sounds like an improper proceedure. It is in your hands now to work on figuring your body out. That was really hard for me. I had never listened to my body before and was clueless in how to do that. I would suggest that for the next week you focus on 80 oz of liquid and pick only one of two proteins to experiment with. Keeping in mind that under eating you stomach is what you want to do. Try eating one oz of whatever protein and then leave it alone for 10 mins and then try one more oz another 10 min and a final oz. keeps you under ur pouch size and you will have time to see how its sitting. The burping can be cause by eating to fast as that induces air into your stomach. Also do not use a staw to drink. It is what it is, slow methodical progras is what you will need to make from this point. Your gonna get there. Chin up, push forward. We are all pulling for you. -
Congrats, let me tell you, you have no idea how good its gonna get from here!! Stay focused get your protein and fluids and move move move!!! Your grandest adventure is ahead!
