Banded Friday Jan 19th
TX_Kimmie replied to Deb-Texas's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey I think starting a thread for Dr. Spivak patients is a great idea. I will go do that now. I will put it under General Lap-Band Discussion. Hope to see you all there! I am being banded on Monday by him. Yippee! I will soon officialloy be part of the group of banders. Come and join the thread. Take care, Kim -
Question. I am going to be banded in a few days (Yaahhhoo!), however, I have developed a strange worry. My daughter (5 yrs old) came home from school with a terrible stomach virus and have been vomiting. Luckily I have escaped the yucky virus. But, if you are banded and did indeed develop a stomach virus, how can you possibly go through the vomiting stage? My poor sweetie threw up for several hours, wasn't just a time or two. I am worried about how my body would be able to handle such an event. Anyone already banded go through this? If so, how did you handle? Thank you.

Deb & Terry - please keep posting your updates. They are great! My banding is only a few days away, so I am so darn excited! I believe Dr. Spivak is having me go to Park Plaza as well. Countdown to next Tuesday! YIIPPEEEE!!!!! Please keep sharing info - most helpful. Take care, Kim -
I am getting banded next week in Houston, TX by Dr Spivak. He is running a special right now for banding. I am paying $12,900 for surgery + one year of aftercare (unlimited fills). Any fills needed after one year cost $150.00. When you are self pay, the "benjamins" do play a role. Good luck.

:help: I came across an earlier thread which sort of hit on a concern. I am in the process of considering banding and feel certain it is what I want to do. However, how did you all deal with the work place? From what did you tell you boss? Your co-workers? I haven't decided how I am going to explain they days I am off. I am a workalcoholic, so any days out of the office will be noticed. I know I am not obligated to share my medical info, not really the point. However, there are co-workers I go to lunch with often and if all goes well, it will be clear why I was off if I begin to drop the pounds. I work in a large office area and some people can be very judgemental and ... honestly just plain rude. I was curious if anyone had this experience and how they dealt with it. At the end of the day, I am doing this for me and what they think should not matter, however, it does impact my day to day life. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. *I have a boss that is a size 2, she is beautiful and vain. She would never understand what I am doing and why. :nervous

Ladies. I have a silly and embarrassing question. :omg: I am self pay, went thru seminar, consultation w/ doc, etc... (all preliminary goodies). I was thrilled to get my surgery date. Over the weekend I have realized it is right about the time I will be on my cycle. Can you believe the timing? Do you know if that is a problem with the surgery? Not that he will be operating in that area, but still, I am unsure. Any women have any insight on this? I feel like such a dork for asking, be need the banders to throw in their two cents. Thanks!

Hey Deb. I attended the seminar on the same day as you! WOW~ small world. Please tell me all about your experience, day of surgery, flow of pre-op, and immediately after surgery. Were you provided an prescriptions for pain post-op?? I am scheduled with Dr. Spivak on Jan 30th, so just a few days away. Anything valuable I should know about prior to surgery? I am really impressed you didn't waste time and you already had yours completed. That is awesome. I really enjoyed visiting with the two ladies in the front desk area. They were so informative. Seemed to be honest and forthcoming on what to anticipate. Just like you, I have not had much time for the pre-op liquid diet. But hope that dosen't hinder the process too bad. Please let me know your experieces; Do's & Don'ts. Take care, :huggie: Kim (Houston, TX) Dr. Spivak To Be Banded: Jan 30th -

I was more concerned they might ask me to change my surgery date. Hoping to avoid that....guess I will be uncomforable either way; TOM and surgery - ha!

Good luck Jen. I am self pay, so from that respect I am lucky to skip by some of those processes. However, I am considering the surgery too. Attending seminar and inital consult tomorrow with a Doc in Houston, TX. Best of luck and hope all works out well for you. :gluck:

Thank you all for your feedback and support. It has all been great. Melissa Lea - thank you too. *I am considering Dr. Spivak for my banding. I am attending the seminar tomorrow. And like you, I am self pay. My insurance does not cover the procedure. If you can, please feel free to share more about your experience with Dr. Spivak and his office/staff.... lessons learned, etc. You can send a private message if you prefer. Just curious. Thank you again to everyone who has shared in this thread. What an awesome support system!
