Liquid Protein Supplement-Post op
ToDream replied to Sandy18's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I could barely take sips without pain in the first 5 days post op. I used Isopure clear protein drink. It took me a whole day to get one small bottle down -
I started eggs on my 3rd week. Soft poached. I can only eat 1/2 and I feel restriction!

Sleeved in Tj fri 13th
ToDream replied to Bajagirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on your new sleeve! The grumblies aren't hunger, my tummy makes a heck of a lot of noise since I got sleeved but I'm not hungry. It's just noisy now. lol apparently that's normal. Think about your "hunger" ... is it head hunger or do you get the cramping that is REAL hunger? -
April Update from everyone
ToDream replied to Ready2BHealthier's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I tried frozen yogurt last week, maybe1/2 cup, and I had the same issue! -
Congratulations pasquini on your new sleeve!

Renee -Like pasquini said, it doesn't hurt coming out. Feels really strange and icky but not painful.

What all do you track?
ToDream replied to finallyformyself's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yep, Cals, Protein, Fat, Carbs. I don't track water, I just do as much as I can in between "meals" right now I'm focusing on high protein (70g) and lower carbs so it helps me to track it. I use Loseit on my iPhone to track it. -
How often do you go to the gym?
ToDream replied to Candace2314's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Pre-op I went 3 times a week on average. I haven't been back to the gym yet as I'm only just over 2 weeks out but I'm really jonesing to get back in there. I'm going to try the treadmill this weekend -
April Update from everyone
ToDream replied to Ready2BHealthier's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 16 days post op and feeling great. I've moved on to some soft foods... eggs, fish, canned chicken. Its alot harder to get the protein in when you're not drinking it. It's also alot harder to get water in now because of the whole don't drink for 30 min before or after eating rule. Soft foods definitely feel alot different in the ol sleeve, although I can get 1 egg in and be filled up. It's like FindingMe75 said.... I almost forget that I've had this done until I get full on 1 egg and then I remember! Energy is getting better as well every day as well. I'm going to hit the gym this weekend for the first time in 3 weeks. I'm sticking to the treadmill but I really want to start moving so I walk is better than nothing at all (which is what I'm doing now!) -
Yes that's exactly what my dr said too. It was so hard to get my personal trainer to not have me do anything involving getting up and down quickly (like burpees)... I nearly passed out each time I tried one!

Congratulations on your sleeve! Around day 5 my drinking got easier. Up until then it felt like food getting stuck every time I tried to drink even just a little sip. I was drinking Isopure in the beginning... it let me get some Protein in while I was trying to get liquids in. For the drain, I just worked around it best I could. It's only in for a little while so what I did was tape it to my body and then just wash around it. After the shower, I changed the bandages for fresh dry ones. Seemed to work for me.

My husband pulled money out of his tax free savings account and I pulled from my savings account as well. We didn't have to charge anything other than the mustang convertible that we rented while in San Diego

Sleeve is usually a 2 step surgery?
ToDream replied to Ready4aNewLife's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just the sleeve for me. It's been done as a stand alone surgery for around 5 years apparently. -
How did you feel the first 2 weeks after you were sleeved?
ToDream replied to Ready4aNewLife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been very tired. A little sore at the drain incision. Otherwise great! -
You should be sleeved and resting by now. Looking forward to your next update!

Every time I've lost weight my BP does a nose dive and I have the exact same issues. My doc said that someone with low BP needs to have even MORE water than normal to increase the volume. Also she said for me to move my feet around (think Happy Feet!) before I stand and it will help my blood start moving so that when I stand the blood doesn't pool in my extremities and I pass out I'm sure I'll have the same issue again when I lose the weight this time.

Looking forward to ONEderland in the next week!!!

They're so nice and friendly there. If you haven't yet met Lupita, she's a sweetheart. Tiny little peppy slip of a thing. Sweet as pie! Dr Betancourt hung out with my hubby the whole time I was there! Congratulations!

Some ???'s for those of you sleeved in Mexico...
ToDream replied to MissJ482's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I outlined this in my blog post here --> http://myaceinhand.blogspot.com/2011/05/surgery-day-outline.html As for the questions not answered, we paid by US money order payable to Dr Mario Almanza when we got there. We paid a downpayment here to the company we used to set it up and then the rest there. The coordinator Louise helped soo soo sooo much with so many of our concerns and questions as well. The hospital was perfectly clean. They were always cleaning every time you looked around. The staff were friendly and helpful and sweet. Always checking to make sure you were ok... even pounding on my back in the night when the gas pains were terrible. We felt completely safe. Never a concern at all. It was so easy, I was surprised at how easy it was. -
I'm blogging too but I'm not giving out my blog to people at work (with a couple of exceptions). I see no reason my work needs to know what I have had done. If they notice I'm losing weight, I just say that I'm on a medically supervised diet and that's it.

Its easily 4*. Did you go to the website? It looks like crap from the outside but the inside is very nice. www.hotelticuan.com http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g150776-d1930468-Reviews-Hotel_Ticuan-Tijuana_Baja_California.html

We tipped twice I think. Once on our way back one night we gave them about 50 pesos each for a beer or two, and on the last time Tony drove us we gave $40.

Hlep Info on WLS in Mexico
ToDream replied to christina420's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
From what I understand, there's actually 2 Dr Almanza's, a Jr & Sr. The one that I had was Mario Alberto Almanza Reyes in the Jerusalem clinic.
