Hi, I've had the same problem lately with tightness. It's been well over 4 months since my last fill and I was at good restriction. About two weeks ago I got incredibly tight and had slime with every solid I ate even though I chewed the heck out of it. It even got to a point I was sliming in my sleep. Yucky and scary! I asked around and found that sometimes allergies can cause the band to swell. I also suspect the solution I was using to whiten my teeth played a role as well. At any rate, I went to liquids for a few days, plus started taking a daily allergy pill. This has seemed to help and I am now able to eat solids again without the slime. I'm not able to eat much but at least I'm not running to the restroom after every meal. I really don't know what caused the sudden tightness but am thankful it's calmed down a bit. Good luck to you!

Sept 2011 bandsters

Hello, hello! I'm checking in also. If you read my previous post you know I've been dealing with a broken/dislocated ankle. I had surgery to repair the damage but I'm still looking at a very long recovery period. I've had to basically start over with my fills as I had to have everything taken out for the surgery. I got refilled a bit a couple of weeks ago but know already that I need more. I think I've been maintaining my weight loss but can't tell because of the huge heavy cast I'm wearing. My clothes are fitting the same so I feel ok about my weight at this point. Sure hope everyone else is doing good as well! -

Thanks Pugsx3! I hadn't thought about water aerobics. That's a great idea and I'm sure I'll be able to do that at some point sooner than I'll be able to walk on my own again. -

Hello Fellow Sept bandsters! I've had a huge setback in my journey. Saturday I was at a friends house swimming in her above ground pool and fell off the ladder while getting out. The fall dislocated my right ankle and broke two bones in it as well. I have to have surgery Thursday morning to try and repair the damage. The doctor said I am looking at a 5 month or more recovery period plus a lifetime of arthritis in that ankle. He gave me the impression that I will be wearing a cast for that recovery time and then will have to do physical therapy. I'm so discouraged. Walking and bike riding have been my exercise since being banded and now I won't be able to do either for quite a while. I've been looking for some forms of exercise that I can do from a sitting position but I won't be able to get any form of cardio in until the cast comes off. I also have to get totally unfilled for the surgery in case any problems arise during it. I'll be able to get a fill fairly soon afterwards but until I do I am going to have to rely on my will power to at least maintain the weight I've lost. I know this is just a bump in the road of my weight loss journey, but it's still got me down a bit. I'm praying for a speedy recovery! -
I'm curious, did he say what was causing the blood? Did you have that due to your band being too tight?

Sept 2011 bandsters

I've had four fills and still get stuck, but I think I've figured out why. I now can't eat any type of bread and when I try to, it always gets stuck. Another thing I've noticed is that if I wait too long to eat than I eat too fast and again, stuck. I am nowhere near where I was hoping to be after 7 months. I've lost 56 pounds, but can't seem to get any more off. I just told my hubby last night that I really need to start concentrating on portion control and better food (actually drink) choices. I'm getting in all my water, and don't drink soda, but lately on the weekends I've been enjoying alcoholic beverages. I know they are empty calories and they also contribute to me eating too fast which leads to stuck episodes. So, it's Monday and a brand new week and I'm committed to making this work. Wish me luck!! -
Hi, I recently got home from vacation during which I flew. I've noticed that the last couple of days I've been experiencing heartburn and getting nauseous while eating. I'm wondering if my band tightened from the plane ride (which is something I've heard can happen), or if there is something else going on that would necessitate a call to the surgeon. Any ideas? Does anyone else experience this during meals and what do you do to make it stop? It does go away pretty quickly once I stop eating, I'm just confused as to what is happening since I've never experienced this before. I've been banded 7 months...

Thanks everyone!

I'm flying to Vegas on Sunday and wondering if my port is going to cause any problems at the checkpoints. When I recently had a bone density test the port was in the way and the tech said it was a problem and had to do my arm also. I'm just curious if I'm going to set off the alarms or anything. Has anyone had any problems flying since being banded?

Banded For The Past Six Months And Before
Sharilo commented on newlife4nekaylyn's blog entry in newlife4nekaylyn's Blog
I don't generally comment on blogs, but your story touched me so much I have tears in my eyes. Thank you for sharing! I, too, was banded 6 months ago and it is the best thing I ever did. I wish you continued success on your journey. -
My last fill took a good two weeks to kick in. I was discouraged at first because I thought I was near restriction and didn't notice a difference. Two weeks later....HOLY COW....everything was getting stuck. One night my hubby was practically warming up the car to take me to ER I had such a bad episode. I'm supposed to get another on Wednesday, but not sure I need one. I don't want to get too tight, especially since I'm flying to Vegas the beginning of April. So, my answer to your question is, yes, it IS possible for the fill to take a while to kick in!

Wow!! You guys are going so good! I can't even imagine getting to a 80+ pound weight loss....I'm pushing to get 50 off and am struggling. LOL, then I'll still have another 60 or so to go just to get to my personal goal which will still be considered overweight for my height. I've been trying to up my exercise to help drop the pounds a little faster. -

JoJo, I've been feeling the same way about fills. I'm scheduled to have one on March 7th, but I'm thinking maybe I don't need one. After my last one I've had many more "stuck" episodes. In fact I had one last night and actually vomited for the first time. That scared me a bit. I know though that I caused it myself because I was shoveling in the food without even thinking about. Bad, bad, bad. It seems like my other episodes are due to not chewing good enough or dry meat. I just don't know what to do. I think I will keep the appt and discuss my issues with the doctor. As far as telling people about my band, I don't have a problem with it. If someone asks how I've lost the weight I let them know. I guess I don't really care what others think about it. If they want to consider it an easy way out, that's their misconception, not mine. Believe me, it's not been easy for me. There has only been one person who has been mean about it, and she's a bitter old hag anyway so I don't let it bother me. Most everyone else either keeps their opinions to themselves or are very supportive. -
Ok, I figured it out. Yay! I can be found by looking for my email addy which is sharilo18@gmail.com.

I can't seem to figure out how to add friends in fitbit. I don't know if it's because it's Monday morning or if it's because I'm just a doofus. Can someone please help me?

Has Anyone Tried Isopure Zero Carb Drinks?
Sharilo replied to Quinnmc79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I, too, love the Isopure. Grape is my favorite. It's funny how everyone has different tastes. While I love the Isopure, I can't stand the taste and smell of unjury. It's all personal preference. -
Ok, I did a bit of a test last night. I couldn't see my stats on my phone until the fitbit synced to the computer through the internet. It somehow has to get to the website for it to get to your phone as the phone app and web app work hand in hand. Do you have internet at home? I'm only able to sync mine while at home so during the day I just look at the device itself to see how I'm doing. I'm sorry if this isn't clear or answering your question. I hope it helps a little.

Sign in to myfitnesspal and then click on the tools tab. Near the top on the right it shows a picture of a couple of fitbit ultras and says learn more about fitbit ultra in blue letters. Click on that and it takes you to an area where you can link both together. Keep in mind when logging on fitnesspal it only shows a meal summary on the fitbit site. It does transfer the calories, Proteins, carbs etc, but it doesn't list each individual food eaten.

LOL, don't be sorry! You don't need wifi but you may need some sort of internet connection. I'm going to test it tonight as I have it on my phone as well as my laptop. I will turn off the internet to my laptop, put my fitbit on the base and then check my phone to see what happens. I'll let you know what I find out.
-
Ahhhhhh, I understand your question now. You don't need to have wifi to use and sync the fitbit, but you do need to have an internet connection to get to the website. You won't be able to access your data on a computer unless you are somehow connected to the internet, be it through wifi or cords. Hope this helps a bit more. Also, you can change the goals so you can work your way up to 10,000 steps.

Thanks Alex! I just downloaded it.

Oh one more thing, I wear the wrist cuff at night and put the fitibit in it. Twice it has fallen out, but I'm lucky because for some reason it ends up in my panties?!?!? Anyway, just be sure you have it clipped in to the cuff real good so it doesn't fall out.

LOL, I posted this as Pugs was posting pretty much the same thing! Sorry for the double info....

I does reset every night at midnight. You don't need to have it connected to a computer with wifi. You just have to have the base connected to any computer for it to sync. So if you have a computer at home, plug the base in to that and set it up there and you will be able to sync it every time you are near that computer. In other words, it syncs to the base as long as it(the base) is plugged into a computer and you have fitbit downloaded on that computer. To track your sleep, when you get in bed push and hold the button on it until the stop watch starts. But only do this when you are ready to fall asleep. Sometimes I read in bed so I have to wait until I'm sleepy to push the button. When you wake up in the morning push the button again until it reads "stop". Then get out of bed, go turn on your computer and just walk by it. It should sync right up and you should then be able to see your sleep. If it doesn't, just pop it on the base for a minute and that will force it to sync. Sometimes, I wear it to bed but forget to push the button to start sleep mode. When this happens, you can manually log your sleep times and still see the sleep pattern for that night. It should automatically show your calories burned on the device and figure that in to your stats for the day. Hope this helps!! I want everyone to love their fitbit as much as I love mine!!
