You can also sync your fitbit with myfitnesspal. I log my food on myfitnesspal and it shows a summary of it on fibit.com. I would like to just log on the fitbit site but their food database seems limited to me. If I wasn't so lazy I would take the time to enter my most used foods and only use fitbit, but for now I'm happy with the way the syncing between the two works. I love the way the fitbit tracks floors climbed and I also really like the journal portion as I use it to help me track my hunger. And it's fun to see my sleep patterns!

Sept 2011 bandsters
Sharilo replied to WannaBeSlimNow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wanted to share my recent nsv with my September buddies. Last week I went shopping for blue jeans, 5 months ago my jeans were a 22 and tight on me. The ones I got last week are size 16! Woohoo, I can't remember the last time I wore a size 16. I wish I was losing a bit faster, but I'm happy with my loss so far. Hope everyone else is doing good. I'm looking forward to spring and getting out on my bike! -
I Have A Fill Today And Need Advice. Please Help!!!
Sharilo replied to FLMichael's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Exactly! And actually, it's easier for me to eat the wrong things when I have good restriction or am a little tight. The cookies and chips and ice cream all go down much easier than healthy proteins that I have to chew to death. However, I make the choice to take the time to chew the right stuff instead of letting the wrong stuff slide through. Good luck to you. I hope you get the answers you are looking for. -
I have been stuck at 217 for a couple of weeks. I really want to get to 211 by the 13th of February because that is when I go see my PCP for a med check. 211 would make it a nice even 50 pounds lost since I began this journey last March. For some bizarre reason I really feel like he would be proud of me losing 50lbs. As to why I want to make him proud, I have no clue! Anyway, I've been eating approx 1000 cals a day and I walk every day at a moderate pace for about 30 mins. However, this 30 minute walk is not a continuous walk. It's usually two 15 mins on my break at work. I drink well over 64 oz of water every day and get around 80g of protein. My carbs have been averaging about 80 also which I think is too much but can't seem to get it lower. If I have a snack during the day it is usually an apple or orange and they both have a pretty high carb count. Plus, I have to take extra fiber and that also bumps up my carbs as well. I need some suggestions to get this 6 pounds off in the next 9 days. I just got my 4th fill last Wednesday and feel I'm at a decent restriction, hoping though, that I will tighten up just a bit in the next week. My surgery was in September and I'm happy with my weight loss to this point, I just would like to somehow power through this plateau I seemed to have reached. Thanks for any advice anyone can give!!

Thank you, and yes, the appt is first thing in the morning. I'm hoping my morning coffee does it's trick before my appointment and I'm not planning on eating anything before I go. I'm also thinking that I need to look closer at my sodium levels as I may be retaining some Water. Thanks for all the suggestions and encouragement!!!

I got a Fitbit for Christmas and LOVE it!!! And I have to also mention that their customer service is awesome. My original one wasn't registering my floors climbed properly. It was actually giving me more than I climbed but it was random. Not every day. One day I only climbed one flight of stairs and it registered 14. I contacted customer service to see if there was a way to just turn off that feature(there wasn't) and after a few re-sets they sent me a brand new one! No shipping charges or anything! I couldn't be happier with the device and like was mentioned earlier, it really pushes me to meet my daily goals. Love it!

I LOVE the Isopure zero carb protein drinks. The ones in the clear bottle that aren't milky. My fav flavor is the blue. My only problem with them is the cost. They are a bit pricey at $6 a bottle. Everyone has different tastes so your best bet is to get one and try it.

Nectar Protein Powder-Just Discovered These!!!
Sharilo replied to SarahStLouis's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Does this powder dissolve clear or milky? For some reason the milky powder smells funny to me. My quest is to find delicious clear protein powder. Thanks for the info!! -
Does anyone have any suggestions for a protein powder that I can mix with water/crystal light that isn't smelly and milky looking? Basically what I am looking for is something like benefiber only protein instead of fiber. Is anything like that even produced? I wouldn't even mind if it had a bit of fruity flavor. I just don't care for the milkiness of most protein powders I've tried. Please don't suggest unjury because I can't get past the smell and flavor of their unflavored powder. Thanks!

I love, love, LOVE my Fitbit! You can now integrate it with myfitness pal which work pretty good. The Fitbit tracks so many things plus you can also journal on their website(I keep mine private). I highly recommend it. I was having some problems with it not tracking the floors climbed properly and when I emailed their customer service they responded promptly and after a bit of trouble shooting (that didn't fix the problem), the sent me a new one at no charge! I didn't even have to ask for it, or pay shipping!! Fantastic and prompt customer support is really a big deal to me and they far exceeded my expectation in that category. I love how it counts my steps, floors climbed and calories burned. It also monitors sleep which is pretty cool. Let me know if you have any questions. Good luck finding something that works for you!!

How awesome you have lost so much without a fill!! The holidays were a struggle for me also. I ate so much more than I should have. The cookies went down way too easily! You'll really notice a difference when you get your fill. Good luck and congrats again on the fantastic loss! -
The bariatric support group I go to usually only has 8 or 9 people attend on a regular basis. Of these, about 5 or so are very close and seem to take over the whole session with their issues and ideas. This is the only group available for me to attend and I'm just not sure I want to continue to go listen to them. They all had bypass and had their surgery over a year ago so their issues are a bit different than mine. I'm actually at a point where I dread "group night". I guess I'm wondering, how important is it? I really am not feeling any support whatsoever from these people but feel like I should give it a chance. I've been going once a month since September. Thoughts? Ideas? Thanks in advance!!

Thanks for the replies/advice. I went tonight. It was pretty much the same as always. I'm just not sure what I'm going to do. I do actually feel like I get better advice on here than I do there....

It shows a fitbit calorie adjustment under the exercise portion of MFP so it does transfer your calories burned. I haven't actually entered a specific exercise in either to see how they transfer. I enter my foods in MFP and it transfers a summary to the fitbit website. Something else to consider is the fact that they don't have the kinks worked out and unless you specifically ask MFP if you can be a tester, you can't even use both at this time. I actually think it might just be easier for me personally to just use the fitbit site and skip MFP all together. I dunno, I'm still getting used to both. Sorry if this didn't answer your question clearly. I really do love my fitbit though!

I love this reply! I was feeling kinda down because I seem to have reached a plateau that I am trying to break through. This is a nice motivating post! I don't even ask or keep track of how much I get at fills. I have no idea what size my band is or how much is in it. I do know that last time (my third) I just got a little, I think she said .5. I asked her about the little amount and she said if she was having to put more in she would be concerned that there might be a leak. I'm feeling good restriction and I totally trust her so I'm good with it. It did take me about two weeks to get to the restriction I'm feeling now. Brandi, I don't think you messed up. Just keep on doing what you know is right and soon you will see the results you are looking for!

I use both. I got the Fitbit for Christmas so haven't been using it for very long but so far, I LOVE IT! I'm a tester for the integration with MFP and it seems to work ok. I'm not sure though. Since I usually eat pretty much the same things it might be just as easy to log it into fibit and get it in their database. That way I would only need to be logging on to one site. It's personal preference, but I like Fitbit's website better than MFP. But I like MFP's food database better. At any rate, I like the way my Fitbit shows how many steps I've taken, how many floors I've climbed, the distance I've traveled and even my sleep patterns. My husband even uses one now and it has really made a difference in our exercise.

I've been banded four months and have lost a decent amount of weight without doing a lot of work. This past week I decided I needed to put more effort in to my weight loss so I upped my exercise and started weighing and portioning all my food. I was feeling so good about myself because I knew I was headed in the right direction. Imagine my surprise when I stepped on the scale this morning and had gained 2 lbs!! What the heck?!? I wasn't looking for a miracle, but I really thought I would have lost a pound or two. Gaining wasn't even on my mind. So, now I'm am bummed beyond belief. I know that more exercise and portion control is the key, so I will continue my hard work. I'm just sad that I saw no improvement after one week. Unreasonable? Probably. It's just hard to keep up something and not see immediate results....
-
Thanks! I'm going to try and stay positive and keep it up. I know eventually I'll see results....
-
Interesting point here. I was taking a pain killer earlier this week that messed up my regularity a little bit. That might just be the cause....
-
Feeling real good about myself these days! I've upped my exercise and my last fill has really made a difference with my portion control.

Greetings everyone! I sure hope you made it through the holidays ok. I really struggled the month of December. Got my third fill last week and WOW, it has really made a difference. I've also been walking a lot more, so the exercise level is getting to where I want it. I noticed something last night while on my evening walk....my thighs don't rub anymore!! It used to seem like my legs only moved from the knees down because my thighs were so large. Now my whole legs are moving! Woohoo!! -

Hair Falling Out After Lap Band Surgery
Sharilo replied to JinTx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You aren't alone! The same things are happening to me. I've had the dizziness pre-band, but the hair falling out is embarrassing!! I've found that if I've been sitting for a long time I have to stand up very slowly or I get a terrible head rush and headache. One day a couple of weeks ago, I thought I was going to pass out. It scared me (and my co-workers). My doctor says it's caused by standing too quickly and the blood is rushing to my feet. Not much can be done to change it. I've had scans and everything is ok in my brain, so I just deal with it. I hope it's nothing serious with you. Let me know if your dr gives you any ideas on how to stop the hair loss.
