  1. Just wondering from all of you that have had your bands for awhile, do you ever eat Pizza anymore? I have seen that many people do not tolerate bread well at all, but is it the same for Pizza? I know that it is not the best choice of food, but i loved pizza and I am just wondering if I will ever be able to eat it again? Not that it's going to happen for me for a long long time. Just wondering!?

    DIET PILLS

Please, Don't take them!!!!! I was on phentermine on and off for over 17 years! and I am 36 yrs. old. Sure, I kept my weight down while I was taking them, I had a ton of energy, and they supressed my appetite, but they are REALLY REALLY bad for you. Once you stop taking them, you feel like a bus hit you, then your metabolIism is completely screwed up, you are really hungry, and you gain a ton of weight. I know from 1st hand expierence. I decided last year that I needed to stop being a slave to the diet pills (also my blood pressure was getting worse) and I decided to stop taking them, Well I gained over 50lbs in about 4 months. Seriously. and i felt like crap because I didn't have the kick from the pills anymore and my metabolism is so messed up. They are so not worth the little bit of weight loss that you might get in the beginning, becuase in the long haul, you will wish you never ever took them! Phentermine is the crack of all diet pills!
  3. So maybe I am a worry wart, but when I was sleeping last night, I unconsiously tried to turn to my side to sleep (I am only two days post-op) and I felt something strange, so It woke me up and I quickly turned back to laying on my back. Tonight, I noticed that there was a little bit of blood outside of the steri strip and when I touched it, there was a little bit of blood on my finger. This is at the largest incision on my belly. I am wondering if I could have popped a stitch or if that is just normal from moving around that it may weep a little bit. Any thoughts about this?

    Feeling Super Sneaky

Do you have to take off of work for recovery time? Will they be asking why you are taking off of work? Either way, you make me laugh about your sneakiness, I wish I didn't tell anyone, but I couldn't keep my big mouth shut when it came to Easter brunch and all I could eat was broth! Good luck to you!
  8. Thanks everyone for your wonderful support and comments! I finally got out of the house today and bought some new creamy soups and stuff to try to mix it up a bit. I am deternined not to let this liquid diet get the best of me anymore. I can't deny that it feels like an eternity till I can have regular food again, like the days are going by so slowly, but that's just the way it is right now. I really appreciate this website and forum because I would be lost without it! It really helps me get through the days!
  9. I tried to make some broth with some unflavored protien powder and it got all clumpy and gross. I was wondering if anyone else has tried adding the protien to soup and can tell me what i am doing wrong. Does it only go well in creamy soups or can it go in broth too? Thanks for any advice
  10. Thanks HeatherinCA! that explains why it did that!
  11. Totally understand where you're coming from! I am only 4 days post-op and I can't stand my protien shakes anymore. Are you not allowed to have strained or pureed soups right now? I am allowed a full liquid diet which included cream soups and strained soups, but I am sick of those too! Good luck to you, at least you only have a few more days till you can have some soft food. I really know how hard this is right now, I am struggling big time! But Best of luck to you!

    Hair loss

Do you take a multi-vitamin twice every day? My surgeon and dietician have a very detailed course that we had to attend to learn about vitamin deficencies, and Hair Loss was a biggy with malnutrition and not getting the proper vitamins needed. I paid close attention to this mainly because I was loosing my hair with my throid problem and I didn't want to loose more hair with getting surgery. If you don't take the vitamins, you may want to look into the Bariatric Advantage Chewable ones, they are not that bad tasting and not all vitamins are created equal. These are made specifically for Lap Band patients and the challenges of vitamin deficency that happens after surgery. Hope this helps! Good Luck!
  13. Good Luck tomorrow!

  14. Hi! I am only a few day out from being banded, and I have posted a few things, mainly because I get the most honest answers from everyone on this board. It is such a change of life for me, that yes, I have some concerns and questions. Overall though, I do not feel like it has been a terrible expierence. I agree with what most of the these people have said, that most of the "discouraging" posts are probably newbies, but it's a great place to come to ask questions if you have any concerns when you are newly banded. As you may have questions or concerns once you get your surgery done! Although it takes some getting used to, It is a great decision to have it done if you can follow the rules! Good luck to you!
  15. Kellyanne, you make me LOL about the steak comment! I totally agree! I woke up out of surgery hungry! I am on a liquid diet but it is killing me, especially because my surgeon recommends all his patients do it before hand too. I can eat a bowl of soup and still be hungry for Jello. I even gained a few pounds the day home from hospital (hopefully because of surgery) discouraging it was. I had no idea I would be wanting to eat like I do. And two more weeks of liquids! OMG, I feel like, just get this two weeks over with so I can eat some dang food! lol
  16. Awesome! Great Job! Congratulations!
  17. Hi! Just wondering how your Easter was? Hope that you are doing ok, and hanging in there. It was really hard for me to go to brunch and watch everyone eat french toast, waffles, and sausage. I ate some broth and yogurt. I am really sore, and sleeping has been hard for me to get get comfortable. I think it will get better soon, but just wondering how you were doing. Hope all is going well!

  18. So glad that you were able to enjoy some clam chowder! I am doing pretty good, just really sore. I hope your recovery continues to go well for you!

    Post-Op Disasters

I am right in the same boat with you! I was banded yesterday and I got on the scale this morning and I was up from 255 to now 258, I hungry too. I even ate a bowl of soup when I got home from the hospital last night. I know it is discouraging, but it will pay off in the long run. That is what I keep telling myself! Were in this together! Good luck and keep me updated!
  20. I am really sore today, guess that was to be expected. Can't wait to be able to sleep on my side again!

  21. Hope your surgery went well! Congrats!

  22. Hi Everyone! I just had my surgery today! hooray! I was supposed to stay at the hospital overnight, but they let me go home this evening becauseI was doing so well. I was just wondering, was anyone elso hungry the day of surgery? I am really hungry! I ate soup, broth, jello and a litttle bit of iced cream that they gave me at the hospital today but I had to make myself some soup when I got home tonight and then I ate some more jello too. I thought for sure that I wouldn't be interested in food today because of the surgery, but boy was I wrong! I think it may a long 6 weeks till I get a fill! Was anyone else this hungry the day of surgery?
  23. How are you feeling? Your surgery was two days ago correct? Mine was yesterday! Hope that everything went really well for you! I am really sore today, are you still sore at all?

  24. Oh, I got my date confused, but we are close to the same date! I hope you are doing well!

  25. Hi! I think that we have the same surgery date! I was banded earlier today 4/22/11. I hope that everything went really good for you today!
