Hello everyone, this is Cindy, who is also be getting banded March 21st. Anyway regarding the Protein shakes - I have tried a couple different ones and they are awesome although I put a little twist on mine. I put one scoop of Protein powder in my magic bullet/blender with either 8 oz. skim milk or I use crystal light orange sunrise drink mix(100% Vitamin C) with half of a banana (fresh)and/or frozen strawberries, pineapple or peaches(walmart brand(should be frozen if you want a thick shake). Really good. All you need is 4-5 strawberries or pineapple (tastes like orange julius with orange drink mix). Blend real well and there you go. I have put a whole banana in the choc-mint and that is also very good. I bought a magic bullet for 50.00. Good investment considering you will be using it everyday. It comes with cups and everything. Pretty cool. Protein Shakes - Amplify is one brand - 20 grams protein - 1 gram sugar - $44.00 for 30 days MaxProtein is other brand - I think 22 grams protein - 1 or 2 grams of sugar - $44.00 for 30 days Both of these are what GNC recommended for people who are doing what we are doing - they are pricy but if you join the gold card club for $15.00, the first week of every month you can get 20% of the first item and 50% of the second item, 20% off third item and 50% item and so on. So you can save some money on them. These do not have any after-taste, powdery taste or gritty at all. I have tried strawberry (awesome), Choc-Mint(ok)and Cookies n Cream (aweseome). They have a wide variety of favors - banana, choc and etc. Also - they also have a liquid vitamin - it is fruit punch favored. Not bad at all. I'll have to check on the name of it. I'll let you know. I paid 10.99 for that - 30 days (20%)on first week of month again. Just thought I would let people know what my experience has been these these products. I have been using them for approximately 1 month already. I use every day for Breakfast. Really holds me over till lunchtime. Let me know if anyone has any questions. Cindy

Well tomorrow I'm being banded. I'm getting very scared. Did anyone have to stay overnight or more than one night in the hospital? Has anyone ever had the open procedure instead of laparoscopic? I guess I just don't know what to expect when I wake up from sugery. I'm ready for my new journey. Just worried about the gas and shoulder pains I hear about. Hope things go well. Wish me luck. Well I started my preop liquids today. My surgery is March 20. Finally:clap2:. I was just wondering if someone could answer hopefully a simple question. Protein shakes are one the liquids that are allowed but I always add frozen fruit to it. when I blend it together. Is this a no no? Its liquid. Are three protein shakes enough for one day (8-10 oz)? Hopefully I can make through this stage of it. Thanks BT (Big Trouble) :flame:

Hello, I'm very new to this forum. I'm getting banded on 3/21/07 by Dr. Corrigan McBride. I'm very nervous because I keep hearing different things like: shoulder pain, port pain, GERD, BPing (whatever that is), vomiting, not being able to eat solids but it's uncomfortable. It's making me very nervous :phanvan . Well, the new one I have heard from my pyschologist is that she has found the lapband patient are having a hard time with GERD when they eat shredded meat, cauliflower & broccoli or anything green and leafy. These are two of the my favorite veggies :hungry: . How many of you out there are experiencing this? I hope I'm making the right decision with this because I don't want to not be able to eat any meat for the rest of my life either :think . How much meat do you normally get to eat at a meal? Just curious. I also do not want be uncomfortable my whole life either with pain either. I need some reassurance I'm making the right decision. Thanks "Big Trouble"

Hello, I'm new to all of this soooo here it goes. I have been approved for my lapband surgery and I have completed all of presurgical requirements but the surgeon/hospital I'm having it done at is just poking around. They say their waiting for the new "language" to cross over for the new year from my insurance company. The insurance co says their just waiting on them for a date so what is the problem. I have a hard time getting the coordinator to return any calls/emails. :help: I guess I'm not sure sure how far I should push them. I feel that I'm bothering them. I'm ready!!! :nervous Lets get with it. Any suggestions!!!

The coordinator says she waiting for the "language" to stitch over from the insurance co for 2007. I sent coordinator an email yesterday stating that the insurance company is waiting on a date from them. I got no response. Hmmmmm. Yeah, I have an approval letter. Just waiting!!! Can I call insurance co to push surgeon for date? Thanks
