Banded yesterday and worried
a.new.life replied to Little Teapot's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with the others... call and see if you can get something stronger, but hang in there ~ I can tell you that I had my surgery on a Thursday and didnt really start to feel better until Sunday. It will get better ~ but if you can get some stronger pain medication until then it would probably help. -

5 Weeks Post Op...Is this Normal??
a.new.life replied to JulyJen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All of you keep saying you "only lost..." all of you are doing great! Only one to two lbs per week is expected and prior to your first fill, once your swelling goes down from surgery, your stomach is basically the same it was prior to surgery. I felt pretty much exactly the same as I did pre-op until my 3rd fill. Don't get discouraged ~ as long as you do your work and stay disciplined, it will come off! -
avoid caffeine/ and carbonation
a.new.life replied to options123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would imagine that anything is probably ok in moderation. My doctor recommends staying away from both, especially carbonation. I havent had a lick of carbonation since August and I am dying for a Dr. Pepper .... I have just made the decision to give up carbonation permanently. I have an Iced Tea every now and then (maybe 2 per month), but its definitely not an everyday thing anymore. I just feel like I worked so hard to get here, I don't want to risk going backwards, its not worth it to me. -

I have finally gotten enough confidence again to start dating after losing the a lot of my weight (87 lbs all together pre & post op)... and this is my dilemma ~ Everyone wants to go out to eat! How do you handle it? Last weekend was my first test and I was so worried, I barely ate and I am not sure if it was noticed. One of the men ordered riblets as an appetizer, he kept asking me if I was going to eat any.. I finally took one and cut it up in really small pieces and said I didnt want to use my fingers because I didnt want bbq sauce in my nails . I'm quite sure he thought I had a few issues LOL. How do all of you handle dating with your band? The men I have been dating know nothing about my band and I dont intend on telling any of them at this point.

LOL!!! Ok thats my other worry!!

Thank you!! I am having fun! But I really do stress out still when It comes to food. I have been getting online trying to look at menu's of the restaurants we are going to prior so I can have an idea of what to order. Like you said I didnt want them to think I was afraid to eat in front of them... so I have tried the taking small bites and moving things around on my plate. I just don't feel like these men that I am not that close to yet need to hear about my weight loss and band. I want them to know me first... for once in my life, i dont want a focus to be on weight. I'm sure if I get serious with someone I will tell them, but until then, no one needs to know. To me this is a personal journey that only a few people need to know about. But this whole dating thing is tough because it seems like most dates revolve around going to lunch or dinner or out for a drink (which I have given up all alcohol too). Hopefully with Spring here the weather will be nice enough so that a date can be putt putt golf or a walk in a park or something that doesnt involve food. I'm not complaining... I am loving my new lie just trying to figure some things out.

Please Help this is SO STRANGE!!

I had to wear a patch behind my ear after my surgery to control nausea. Did you happen to get that? I was talking to one girl in the waiting room and she was like you AND she had the patch, they told her to remove the patch and it solved it for her, her patch was actually making her sick. -
affraid to get a fill
a.new.life replied to options123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love my fills... every time I get one my weight loss gets kick started again. My third fill was kind of tight, but just to the point where I can't eat certain things anymore... when I ate bread or scrambled eggs I threw them up...but its not the same kind of throwing up that your used too; its not pleasant and doesnt feel great, but its no the acidy nauseating type like you get with the stomach flu. You will love your fills when you get them, because it makes the whole process so much easier when you are not hungry or you get full quickly. It's worth it; the band was the best decision i have ever made. Good Luck!! -
For Those With Weight Loss Tickers-What Figure Do You Start With?

i put my weight as of the day of surgery. -
I have a new boyfriend... and I thought I would feel better about sex, but honestly I am still self conscious ~ it used to be because I was fat, but now its because I am paranoid about the loose skin... i hate it, its so ugly and I feel squishy lol. I look 100 times better in clothes and have alot of confidence while clothed, but I was very paranoid the first time he and i did the deed. He told me not to worry about it, but I still do. Once I get this whole thing paid for, I am going to do the tummy tuck & boob job.
