Update on Surgery against my Will
**LaSaJaTa** replied to Carrie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I agree with dbrjredd, why do you continue to say you're upset and not happy with the support (or lack there of) on the forum, then keep comming back to see what people have said, and then feeling the need to respond (again) that you don't feel that this is the place for you....? I'm sorry if I was harsh, but I'm just trying to jolt you into reality... You seem to be experiencing other "issues" and I stress to you, to seek help, professionally, and not use this forum as a measurement to guage "how" you SHOULD be feeling about your situation. There are lot's of qualified people who can help you deal with your feelings of anger, resentment ect because of your perceived forced situation. Once you work through those issues, you'll feel better, and will be more equipped to focus on accepting YOUR decision and movie on with life. If anything, do it for your child... -
I agree with the excersize issues....you're right. As kids, and younger adults even, we would hit the baseball/basketball/hockey surfaces without giving thought to stretching or warming up....BUT, our bodies were younger, and did not require the same tuning up as they do now...also, it's been a long time since we've excersized at this level, so there may be SOME logic behind SOME of the things we're being advised to do in prep for a workout HOWEVER, excersize should be fun, and varied. That's what keeps us interested and motivated. I have NEVER worked out in a gym in my life, ever! Tomorrow, I start with my first session (12 booked) with a personal trainer. I need to learn "how" to excersize, and "how" to use the equipement ect. After those 12 sessions are done, I'm going to be on my own, and making my own program with some help....I'M TERRIFIED of this part of my journey, but I know I need to burn fat, build lean muscle, and increase my cardio....It's just.....scary. I've seen the results from RyansGirl (on this form) and she has ROCKED the gym...and the results are hard to ignore. I want some of that!!! Cheri, I'm SOOOOOO GLAD to hear your stall has broken. It's such a relief eh? You know, one thing I've noticed (perhaps it's THE secret) is that when I up my calories, I loose more weight in the following week. Typically, I'm using VODKA, with Chrystal Lite (no cals) and on a Saturday night, will have 2 of these over the course of the evening. Then, like magic, the next 2 days, I'm down 3 pounds. Last Saturday, I repeated these 2 drinks, and today, I'm already down 4 pounds. Mind you, I'm having a hard time getting up to 600 calories without the vodka, but with the Vodka on the Saturday night, I clock in at about 750 calories (on this one day alone) and it seems to send the messege to my body to say "okay, we have calories, you can burn some fat". Weird eh? Oh well, I'm not advocating alcohol, but hey, it's working, FOR ME. I'm so glad to see everyone is doing well, and are pleased with their sleeve. I'm VERY, VERY happy!! And seeing big time results in the measurements!!! Be well!

My own "What have I done?" moment has come.. please help
**LaSaJaTa** replied to TwoStepsBack's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What you're feeling is natural. You've undergone surgery, and made a huge commitment to a new lifestyle, one that will make you healthier, stronger and happier. You're going through a tough time, liquid diets, so much new information to remember....it's all overwhelming. Stay the course, and stay positive. Remember the "real" reasons you chose VSG, and keep those in mind. Find some inspiration...perhaps a photo, or a picture of your dream outfit, hang it on your bathroom mirror, as a reminder as to the "why". You'll get through this, I PROMISE!! *Hugs* -
All, I am about 4 weeks out, and have NEVER hit my calorie requirements. Basically, I am trying to work within these figures: 600-800 Calories 5-10g fat 20-30g carbs 80-90g protiens I'm consistantly hitting the fat (although usually under 5g) and hitting the mid range for carbs, or lower, and always getting my protiens. I understand that at this stage, I need to up my calories, right? I've slowed down on my weight loss, and am thinking that the low calories is the reason. I'm having a hard time finding foods that will keep me within my other guidelines, but up my calorie numbers. What are others eating at this stage? Should I perhaps be looking at increasing my range of foods? Help!

I just started using them, and like a few of the flavors. Is there a problem with this product?

We need more ideas everyone....how can we up our calories?

Suck it up!! You made a decision, you signed the papers. It's nobody's fault but yours! Grow up... Your husband did not drag you down to the hospital, and nobody held you down while they prepared you for surgery. Jeesh...enough already. Get some help to deal with your "other" issues. -
Hello July Sleevers, I am seeing the light...FINALLY, after almost 2.5 week stall, the weight has started dropping again. It's amazing what kind of effect this has on me...the stopping and then loosing again. When the scale is moving (down), I such a happier person. Motivated to excersize and keep moving....I'm happy to say I lost 3 lbs last week, and another 3 lbs this week...so it looks like my stall has ended, for now. The one thing I wanted to mention is that even though the scale was not moving for these last few weeks, I was shrinking. All my tops and pants are too big now...and I'm fitting into size 18 jeans that are too baggy (started at tight 22's). My tops are all way too big, so I'm thinking I'll need to hit the stores to prepare for the winter. So, for those of you who are stalled, like me, try taking some measurements or tryin on smaller clothes, you may be surprised. Oh, and come back to this form often, and keep us updated. I notice it's been a while since some of us have been posting....and I find the posts so helpful. Take care,

I too felt this way, until I met Nectar, coffee. My new best friend. Also, their chocolate is a "clean" taste and great texture. I ordered a 13 flavor sample for 15 bucks shipping. Great deal...check out their website. You'll be glad you did.

Being a "Public Figure" should I be proactive or reactive in telling people?
**LaSaJaTa** replied to ImdownwithVSG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I too have struggled with a similar situation, to tell or not to tell. One of my clients approached me to become involved with her "Big/Beautiful/Wellness" organization. She knew I was "big and beautiful" and thought we would be a good fit professionally. Well, integrity dictated, and I felt the need to tell the trueth about my recent surgery. Guess what, she was so proud, astounded and happy that I decided to tell my story, that she feels I'll be an asset and an inspiration to the other members...surprise, surprise, surprise. You just never know how people are going to react....AND think of all the big/beautiful women I can now help.... Shout it loud and proud. You've taken positive steps to CHANGE your life and health. Its a GREAT thing....better than living sad, unable and unhappy. If you can change just one persons life by telling your story, you owe it to them, and you. Good luck with your journey, and I know you'll make the right decision. Cheers! -
My husband took me shopping about 3 weeks ago, and we picked out a sexy dress, a body con number...black, white and grey strips, its fantastic. It's a size 12, and I'll put it on when I reach my goal weight. He put up a nail on the wall in our bedroom, and we hung it on the wall, so everyday, when I get up, and before I go to bed, I see it...it helps me stay motivated. I am soooo looking forward to slipping that sexy thing over my head......whooohoo

Cost of VSP in United States/ And is there a BMI limit
**LaSaJaTa** replied to littlemissyoyo's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
I've seen it as high as 35k.....depending on the Dr....not sure about max/MIN BMI. That is the surgeons decision I suppose... -
When do you take your PPI?

Really?? 15 minutes between bites?
**LaSaJaTa** replied to rosepetals's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 7 weeks with VSG, and basically, the rule is to chew, chew, chew, and then chew some more, and while doing so, put your fork down...eat at a "slow" pace, enjoy the tast of your food, and when you feel ready, have another bite. I'm about 2 minutes or less, depending on what I'm eating, between bites. Speed is different for everyone.. -
To go or not to go....that is the question
**LaSaJaTa** replied to AniO's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good for you, my vote was for you to go too....don't miss out on these types of opportunities. The reason I got the sleeve was so I could start LIVING again, which means being with my family, and having fun together. Getting my head around eating out, and watching others eat in my early days, and even now, is a challange, yes. But oh, it's for such a short time, so don't isolate yourself, and enjoy every experience you are faced with head on, chin up and determined to succeed!! -
What's the best protien shake brand?
**LaSaJaTa** replied to roshov's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Protiens + chocolate is good, and I just tried the 1st sample pack (from Necter) of their coffee, and it was really good. The sample pack is great...I'll try them all then order based on the ones I liked...
