  1. Thanks everyone! I feel great! Got my first fill a couple of days ago and I need to learn to slow down my eating again! lol I didn't realize how loose my band was until I saw that barium flying thru... a little 3 cc's in and I'm nice and snug
  2. So as of yest I am five weeks out and down 24 pounds!!!! Yippie I haven't gotten back in the gym yet (I am walking to work though)... but I am diligently counting my calories and recently bought a body bugg to help me get a better idea of my daily burn. I was feeling very frustrated my first few weeks because I wasn't losing but around week 4 the weight just started falling off! I work so hard to watch what I eat, if I would have done this before maybe I wouldn't have needed the surgery! lol But the band helps me feel full on less so I am thankful. My first fill is next week
  3. I to love cottage cheese! I even eat it with speghetti o's and it reminds me of lasagna. lol I'll have to try it with tuna. I also eat cottage cheese on baked lays chips
  4. I never thought I'd be able to enjoy a sandwhich without bread but tell you what the Jimmy John's unwhich's are amazing!!!! Take off the mayo and bam! Low calorie huge unwhich, which equals two meals . The Beach Club, my fav, is only 233 calories no mayo of course. lol Plus it's loaded up on veggies plus yummy avacado.
  5. Oh it is so good to finally hear someone who said they had a small weigh loss from surgery to first fill. I lost around 19 lbs preop, 10 day liquid diet, and none since. I'm 3 weeks out. Thank goodness I haven't gained anyback though.
  6. I'm 3 weeks post op now and I haven't lost a single pound since surgery! Grr I'm super frustrated... Thankfully I haven't gained any weight back but it's still frustrating. I've been trying super hard to stick to a 1200 cal diet... the most I've ate in one day is 2000. Like seriously! That's been rough on me I bet I was eating 4-5000 cal preop! I realize I don't have much restriction yet, since my band is empty, but I will prob still be eating 1200 cal a day when I have restriction. I am meeting with a nutrionist on Friday and I'm hoping she can point me in the right direction. I understand my body is healing but can't it eat a little fat while it's at it! Is this normal? Has ne one else delt with this?
  7. Thanks everyone I met with a nutritionist today and she strongly encouraged me to stick as close as I can to 1200 cal....I know I know you all are right!lol I'm just gonna stop weighing myself for now. Guess I'll see how much I weigh on May 17th when I go in for my first fill My coworkers and hubby comment that I look better and a lot less puffy so even though I haven't lost weight at least I look a lil better
  8. Are there any fellow night shifters out there? I'm having a hard time deciding how to count my calories. Not to mention the wanting to eat during the middle of the night on my nights off! HELP!
  9. I only had 2000 calories once, every other day I've been around 1200. I am on solids since my doc only required liquids x 1 week and then progress as tolerated. I can eat everything but bread and rice. I have been looking online at calorie intake for weight loss and everything, I've checked about 15 calculators, says for my height, age, weight, and activity level I should consume 1900 cal for weight loss of 1 lb per week. I am strongly considering 1500 cal a day to see if bumping up my cal intake a little helps my weight loss. I don't really have much to lose! lol Thanks for all of the reassurance

Having just started out so I may not be the best help but: If it's hard for you because of temptation maybe you could try cutting one bad habit at a time, maybe every week or two. You could also try going back on a liquid diet for a week to bring you back to square one. Have you had a fill lately, do you need to go in and have one? Just a couple of ideas Hope it helps!
  11. I was officially two weeks post op yest 4/20! I have been advancing my diet and have found that mexican rice, even just 3 bites, is a bad idea! lol I can tell I don't have much restriction yet so I have been trying to really stick to a 1200 cal. diet and slowly introduce new foods. I haven't lost any weight since surgery, haven't gained ne back either, and I realize not to expect much this first 6 weeks while my body is healing. My incisions are all healed and my coworkers, I'm a nurse, think it's pretty cool to feel my port. My upper abdomen, in my stomach region, is still tender to touch.... Has ne one else experienced that? I go back to work in two days after having 2 weeks off so it will be interesting to see how eating on a night shift scheduel again is affected by the band. My first fill is May 17th!
  12. I totally understand where you are at! On my 5th day post op I sat in the shower and cried and cried... I chose the shower because that is a place that you don't eat! It took my husband 10 mins of begging to get me out, I regretted my decision to. At about a week, when I could start eating food again, I began to chipper up. Now two weeks in I can look back and laugh at myself! Part of my problem was I forgot to take my antideppresant for 5 days to. I found that looking at everyones posts really helped me get through the rough times.
  13. Just curious if there are any blood donors out there that have had the band? I am one week post op and have been called by the red cross two times since surgery. I am a dedicated blood donor and feel that it is a very important cause but I'm worried that due to my diet restrictions donation may take me a while to recover from. Appriciate the input
  14. I am super excited tomorrow to meet with my doc. I'm praying he advances my diet! I am supposed to be on full liquids but I have cheated and ate mashed potatoes. After falling into a pretty dark place a couple of days ago I am now starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Forgetting to take my antidepressant for 5 days was a really, really bad idea! Recovery has been more difficult than I expected but thanks to all of the wonderful support I have from my hubby and my cousin, who has lap band 2 yrs ago, I am feeling more positive

    1 Week Post Op

Doc says I can officially start introducing mushies!!!!! I am super happy Had scrambled eggs for dinner, delicious!
  16. ? how do people put the ticker on the profile? I went to the ticker page but I can't seem to figure out were to enter the code to upload it on my profile.

  17. I cheated @ 5 days, I am 7 days post op now, I have been eating small portions of mashed potatoes. I had horrible hunger pains and needed something that would fill me for more than a couple of min. I take it very slow and eat only a few bites and it satisfies me for hours.

    5 days post op

I know what your talking about! I am 7 days post op tomorrow and today was the first day that I had enough energy to do much of ne thing. I have been very worn out and feel as though I have no energy. On a good note I am starting to feel better and went shopping and out for a pedicure today, followed by a nap lol I'm hoping my doc advances my diet tomorrow so I can get more calories in and start exercising a little. Hang in there!
  19. I can totally identify with your pain!!!! I was banded on wed April 6th and I am already feeling hunger pains.... something I did not think I would have to worry about for at least a few weeks. The thought of only having liquids for another 10 days sickens me Recovery has not been near as easy as I thought it would be Day two I suffered from horrible nausea, today I've had horrible diarrhea and hunger pains, and on top of it all I've been dizzy since surgery and it doesn't seem to be subsiding. I was truely at the point of tears tonight but reading other people's posts has reassured me that it will get better and that I can do it!
