  1. Oh but yes, after I ate cajun. I found out I have gerd. It mostly hurts between my shoulder blades and a lil lower in the center of my back. Zantac, doubling the dose works wonders c: I hope you get to feeling better
  2. Well from what everyone is saying is.. We are all different and feel pain differently. I had a c-section, gall bladder and lapband. Lapband for me was the easiest. I had no fatigue and was actually energized from it. I think it depends on what drugs they give you and how it affects you. Only problem I had after a week out was the pulling from the port site. But, I was up and going from the time I got home 5 hours after surgery.
  3. I've been reading alot on here about struggling bandsters. And alot seem to be the same. Over and over I read, "all I can get down is blah, blah" its always something bad, ALWAYS! I am not trying to be hatefull but how is it there are no healthy foods a struggling bandster can get down but a long list of unhealthy ones? I am new and was curious.

    Restaurants

I haven't got a card but, have asked at restaurants I've been to if they honor and so far none do. It's really up to the waiter/waitress when I tell them. The reason I was told they don't is that wls doesn't nessesarily mean you eat less.
  5. One thing I've learned from my daughter having type 1 diabetes since she was 3 years old(now 20) is that if you don't go to a specific doctor that specializes in what your issue is, you might as well diagnose yourself. Doctors are just as CLUELESS as us when dealing with specific issues if they are not trained in it. But, bc of their arrogance they rarely say, "I don't know". If any one of us goes to the drs right now complaining of a headache that won't go away and the dr finds out you have the band or if you have say, diabetes, it will automatically be blamed on that. Its an easy, quick diagnoses and its gets you out of his/her face so he/she can get on to the next patient/paying customer.

    Surgery Yesterday!

Walking and gas x helped me. ALOT! Don't wait for the pain to start before you walk. Just walk, it moves the gas around till it comes out.

    So Many Questions????

I would take at least a week, if you stay at your desk. Sitting was very uncomfortable, not painful though. Also, I picked up my grandson(20lbs) 3 days later and my port area really pulled, so I would watch that. I was up and walking right away after surgery and it felt good to. These are just my experiences.
  10. Hey, and welcome to our world. Kelly

    Surgery Tomorrow

Walking made the real difference. You start moving around, and the pressure releases. I had a burst of energy afterwards. The only pain was a sore throat for me but, I was also fighting a head cold at the same time. Good luck and congrats!
  12. Good chant, Mandagay! I will be repeating it all day, everyday! I'm a month out and want to eat and eat and eat......

    Sore Throat Post Op

I had a head cold going into surgery, and an extremely sore throat for about a week after. Don't know if it was coinsidence or not. Either way, it was gone in a week.

Can I Eat Before A Fill....?

Glad you asked, I was wondering the same thing.

    Need To Vent...

My insurance would not cover for the nurse practitioner. That may be the problem. I had to see the actual dr the whole time. Even though they cover for nurse practitioner on everything else, just not for this surgery, go figure. I hope it all works out for you. I wish I could've had it done at 18, instead of 38. Life would've been so so different. Good Luck!

    Opinions Needed!

They have to have a date to submit to insurance.
  18. About 2 weeks after surgery, now no problem.
  19. I am newly banded and still on mushies. I am lovin the cajun 15 bean soup mixed with some canned chicken. Great ideas everyone. To drink I make homemade lemonade with splenda. The tart lemons cover the sweetner taste.
  20. Praying for God to give you peace. I was banded on the 19th. It was so easy. You will do great. Your next post wil be of a banded lady, yay!

    Nsv

I was banded on the 19th also, down 20 lbs. Congrats on your victory. I haven't change pants size yet, hopefully tha will be next for me.
  22. I don't know...I would think the lapband with the proper fill is where the weight is supposed to come off from. I too got the band to stop with all the other garbage. I sweated like a pig the whole time I was taking adipex. I think I would cry if the dr. suggested this to me. I don't think I would do it. Call your doc and tell them how you feel about this.
  23. I went to a seminar and made an appt w the surgeon there. The insurance lady at the surgeons checked with my insurance and gave me a list of everything I needed to do.

    Hello Fellow Lapbanders!

ROLL TIDE! I'm from Alabama too. I was just banded myself on March 19th. The Atkins shakes tasted best to me, the worst was Muscle Milk. Everyone has their own preference I guess. My nutritionist said to make sure they have more than 100 calories or you won't feel full. Goodluck!
