Maybe I should have made it shorter. I am very supportive and encourage wherever I can. Sorry if I offended you personally.

I get your point But I didn't see it as complaining, I seen it as maybe a reminder that what we are all going through isn't by far the worst and we have all become very self absorbed. I am on a computer now but am usually on the android app and by the time my phone loads the discussion its to late to just skip it. Then its just wasted on another complaint. It just seems like there is nothing good with anyone on here. I thought the lapband was the greatest thing that could happen to me as far as my health goes and its well worth the "little" things we have to go through. More people should dwell on that instead of all the minor things.

I have 10 scars on my tummy 5 from lapband, 4 from gallbladder, 1 from c-section. This was by far the easiest. Goodluck!

Ugh Tired Of Sounding Like A Nag!!
kmt1973 replied to misseyb73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nagging only ends with him wanting to get away from it. Would you want to be around someone that nags? You need to decide right away if you will accept that this is your lapband not his. Don't try to control his eating. He is grown. Quietly be an example, that goes way farther than nagging. (my aunt was a nagger, and she nagged her husband right out the door) -
I learned the hard way to not pay attention to sugar content or sugar alcohol content. They are just "fancy" ways to tell you "eat this, I'm good for you" pay attention to the carb content. That is what will raise your sugar levels. My daughter was diagnosed w juvi diabetes when she was 3, she is now 20. Letting her eat diabetic candy back when I was ill informed, I couldn't understand why her sugar was high when I watched everything she ate. Not only that....she would get very bad cramps after about 2 or 3 pieces.

I had gallbladder removed in July, they couldn't get one stone out and it caused severe pain rubbing against my intestine. Had to go back to the hospital and was sent to have the stone removed in another procedure. That was painful. Banded this March and it was a piece of cake. Gas pain was tolerable as long as you move around. It builds pressure when you're still. Good luck.

Stop Askiing How Much Wieght I Lost
kmt1973 replied to hookieluv's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think its a natural question and they aren't trying to be rude. My bro-in-law had gastric a few years back and I could tell he was losing so i'd ask, "how much?" My sister does weight watchers and I ask her too. Not trying to be rude, just mostly striking up conversations. I in turn have been asked alot, and I've noticed the only time it bothers me is when theres no wieghtloss, so I'm embarassed but, thats, not their fault. -
I was banded 3/19/12, I felt the same way. Boniluuu gave some good advice. This too, shall pass, I promise. Food was our way of life, now we are supposed to just let it go. Well, after a lil over a month I realized I let it go and didn't even know I done it. It does get better, just don't dwell on it. Like the saying goes, idle hands are the devils workshop, so is an idle mind. Keep your mind and body occupied.

Don't do it. Move away from the cake. It is not your friend! That being said.....That is one of the worst things you could say to a person. You should've told her, you would rather be overweight than have a black heart. Telling you to ignore her would be impossible but, don't let it rule you or your decisions. I am so sorry, you have to deal with someone like that.

Goodness, that is very ummm, inventive c:

I hate to think you spent all this money just to have it taken back out. Its sounds like you need to start over with a good dr and nutritionist. All the abive advice is really good. Don't give up on it. All this can be corrected w the right dr.

First off, "hell yeah, amazing job!" don't give that aunt power over you. For one, she must be blind. And two, shes hateful. I understand what you're going through. I've only lost 27 lbs, and when people say how good I look, I don't see it. The dang scales an obsession. But, I only weigh in the morn, the scale goes up mid-day. I'm so thankful for this forum bc even though I have a supportive family, they don't know what or how we feel about this. Sorry for the rabbit trail but I was trying to cover all I just read. Congrats on your victory so far!

My hubby and I are bikers, Bikers for Christ members to be exact. I had surgery 3/19/12 I've list 27 lbs so far, I have no restriction yet, just cut out carbs. Anywho, my man told me today that he could tell I'm losing weight because my stomach used to be against his back and now he doesn't feel it. WooHoo, thats even more awesome being as its summertime and it feels so good to have some air between us. C:

Pre-Diabetic?? Excuse Me....
kmt1973 replied to mufasas-mom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
P.S. I'd rather have my diabetes than any other disease.....at least its something that you can control and ALL side effects are preventable. -
Pre-Diabetic?? Excuse Me....
kmt1973 replied to mufasas-mom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thats crazy, an A1C of 5.8 means your sugars have occasionally got in the 120's which is pretty normal. You want your sugars to be between 80 and 120. That is normal. And A1C's of 5 or under are excellent. I hate when drs scare people with pre-diabetes diagnosis. Oh, and if you do have diabetes MAKE SURE YOU SEE A DR THAT HAS EXTRA TRAINING AND IS UP TO DATE ON DIABETES. I've found myself, on several occasions telling or correcting the drs on information. Like someone said, "be your own advocate." -

Pre-Diabetic?? Excuse Me....
kmt1973 replied to mufasas-mom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can be so called "pre-diabetic" (theres really no such thing) for years and years. Your sugar spiking while in the hospitl is usually a false high brought on by medication. If you are concerned have your dr. prick your finger for a simple hemoglibin A1C. It will tell what your blood sugars are averaging over a three month period. Insurance won't rush you up for surgery bc of diabetes, however, it will help w getting approved. Good luck, with it all. If you are a diabetic then simply cutting out carbs or most carbs will bring it under control most times. -
Yay, congratulations!
