sleeve-not what I expected
Kellybeann replied to hcwiu's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had my sleeve on 3/15/11. It has been just over 5 weeks and I've only lost 18 pounds so far. I go to aerobics twice weekly and sometimes to the gym and I still am losing weight very slow. So I can relate to your problem. I guess I thought it would come off quicker. Prior to the surgery I had lost 30 pounds in 3 months. So I guess I'm losing it at around the same rate as before. I guess it is slightly easier than before the surgery. But I still have to watch what I eat or I won't lose anything. I think I expected to lose weight without even trying, especially the first few months. I think one of my problems might be that I'm not drinking enough water daily. They say increasing your water will help you lose weight quicker. Have you tried that? -
I think I kinda skipped a "eating" stage

I did exactly as you did. From the day I was released from the hospital I was drinking soup that had been pureed. Some of my paperwork was contradicting and so I got confused. Anyway, after a week I was eating baby food and didn't have any problems. Now it has been just over 3 weeks and I'm eating turkey and fish and alot of cottage cheese without any problems. I did sort of have a problem when I tried eating part of a fried egg but not a problem when I ate a soft boiled egg. I think it's because the soft boiled is softer and glides down easier. I also don't understand why people had such a problem getting the liquid protein down. The kind I bought was delicious and you only have to mix it with 3 ounces of water. It tastes just like chocolate milk and it has 18 grams of protein and 100 calories in that little amount. Downing that 3 times per day was easy. I purchased it from Trader Joe's and also a Health Food store. On the front it says "#1 Designer Whey Protein in America" or something like that. -
Hi everyone. I had my sleeve surgery on 3/15/11. I've lost 12 pounds since surgery. I received so many different diet packets on what to eat and it all confused me. I think maybe I was eating things I should not have been eating in week two. I was eating blended Soup and baby food in week 1. I thought that was allowed but maybe I misread the material. I also ate some mashed potatoes in week two. I didn't realize those were forbidden until I read over another packet of material. So I eliminated potatoes altogether. I just started week three yesterday. I have been eating blended Soups, some baby food, and cottage cheese and of course Protein shakes. When can I start eating normal food again? Also, can anyone tell me when will the pain in my abdomen go away completely? When I wear jeans that button near my incision I feel pain. I also feel as if there are lumps under the incision areas that are sore. Does anyone remember when that goes away?
