  3. There are times that I know I am eating more than the 4oz's (5-6 oz)that my stomach is suppose to hold and then there are other times that I can only eat a couple of oz's. Eating more thatn the 4 oz doesn't happen often usually when I am having a "good day" (eating & drinking with out problems & feeling like a million bucks). I am concerned that my stomach could be stretching back out or is this normal. Does anyone else have this problem? Any comments are welcome. I no longer have to eat pureed foods, I can now eat solids that are chewed to a mush, so far I have been able to eat anything without getting sick or it not setting will with me. I am able to tell when I am full by a feeling that I get in my stomach and I have also noticed that my nose will run (weird).
  4. I am glad to hear that you have switched to more protein food and less carbs (potatoes, rice), that should help with the weight loss. Don't get discouraged, I had my sleeve on Oct. 5th, I lost 11 pounds pre-op (2weeks) and another 10 pounds the first week post-op-then I stopped loosing and gained 4 pounds having nothing but liquids. I thought to myself "what have I done and for what". I didn't loose another pound until 4 weeks post-op (4 pounds in 3 days) -I am now down a total of 25 pounds (PRE & POST OP). I had to realize that the weight is not just going to fall off-I had to eat the right foods, drink my water and exercise, thats when the weight started coming off for me. Don't give up, work the sleeve and it will give you the results you desire.
  5. Hi- I have been keeping a food diary on the journal that the Dr gave me. I have getting 600 to 800 cals a day and 40 to 53 grams of protein daily and keeing the fat grams down to 10 or less. I am not getting in but 32 to 48 ozs of water daily. I haven't had a period in over 10 years as I had all my female reproductive organs removed. I will up my water intake and see if that helps (lets hope). Thank you :-)
  6. I had my sleeve on Oct 5th, I lost 11 pounds during my 2 week pre-op diet and another 10 pounds the first 8 days after surgery. I have since gained back 4 pounds of the weight lost and I am not sure why. I am eating the smushy/blended foods but have to eat about an ounce or so every hour or hour and a half to get the 50 grams of Protein in. I am basicly eating the same foods I eat and lost the 11 pounds pre-op but have gained 4 pounds eating them. I am open to any and all suggestions.
  7. By this time tomorrow I will be sleeved and ready to start another step of the journey to the NEW old me.....excited and nervous but ready :-)

    Aetna Aetna Aetna

I also have Aetna insurance and will be getting the Sleeve on Oct 5th. My BMI is 41 and I have no health issues. (BMI has to be 40 or above if you have no medical problems or 35 or above if you do have medical problems that can be helped by weight loss in order for AETNA to cover the surgery) I went to my nutrition classes once a month for 3 months and AETNA approved my surgery. You should not have any problems being approved for the procedure. Good luck!
  11. I just started my liquid diet yesterday, I had three sips yesterday and about 1/4 of one meal replacement today. I am suppose to be drinking 5 of these meal replacements a day and I can't even get one down, the after tase is making we nausiated. I have been eating sugar-free jello and sugar-free popcicles but I know I am not getting the nutrients that I need from them. Is there anything I can do to get this Opti-Fast into my system so that I can have all the nutrients that I need to have my surgery on October 5th? My Dr. will only let me use meal replacements (opti-fast), jello, popcicles and crystal light. I am not missing food but I know that I need the protein and vitamins so I do not become malnutritioned. I have thought about just drinking broth and taking a multi-vitamin but do not know if that would help my liver shrink or make things worse. I would appreciate any feed back.
  12. I started my liquid diet this morning and the taste of the Opti Fast shakes make me feel like I am going to throw up, it is the after taste that is doing it to me. Any suggestions on making it better. HELP!
