I need help friends
Ms Lady in NC replied to Ms Lady in NC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone! Sorry about the late nite posts but I honestly can't get here until this time, but when am here I am truly reading and learning from all the great info. This site really helps me out more than anything else and for that I am soooo thankful! I just wanted to let everyone know how things went today. Here was my day : 11am: unsweetened all natural applesauce 3 tbsp 12pm: multivitamins and 1/2 cup of water 1pm: more water to finish the 20 oz. cup 3pm: 3 cheese cubes and 4 tbsp of tuna mixed with egg and slash of mayo 4pm: began another 20 oz of water 6pm: finished water 7pm: cup of chicken and stars soup 8pm: 1/2 of banana and 4 oz of whole milk 9pm: began 24 oz bottle of water and 2 quarter size pieces of deli meat Right now: finishing the rest of water So today I drank about 8 cups of water and was actually able to keep everything I ate down. Yay!!! I think the oatmeal early this morning really didn't count because the little I ate did come back up but I do think it was my fault in not making it thin enough. I tried a llittle skim milk but it too was not well tolerated but the whole milk went down with no problem. I think I will keep trying with the milk. I have also decided to plan my eating because that seems to be the only way I will do it. And after all that, I feel so much better. I agree with most that my doctor's advice on eating regular food is too much for my sleeve right now. So I will try to alternate with protein shots and softer foods as suggested. Although I still didn't quite make 800 cals, the water intake was a plus and I feel good. I even feel like I could eat now but am really too tired from this long day to eat another thing. My doctor also told me to take Prevacid so this is day 2 on that and maybe that helped a bit. I am just happy that I did not tear my sleeve from eating the way I was before. But question for anyone that could answer.... When is a good time to try to eat chicken or beef? I have not tried hamburger or steak at all and was just wondering since my post op diet is not a good one to follow obviously. Also, how much should I be eating at a time if it is soft foods? I feel full at 2-3 tbsp but know that will not help me reach calorie goals. I know eating more often will help so I hope adding the GNC/Walmart protein shots could be used to supplement a few cals and add protein. Thanks for all the great advice. I will try the cottage cheese in other things, greek yogurt, etc tomorrow and see how it goes. -

I tried some oatmeal this morning and it was a bit too heavy I think but it stayed down. Only got 3 tbsps in but then I tried my Vitamins as suggested. So now I am headed off to work and have packed a baggy of cheese to snack on today. I will try the yogurt for lunch and add a hotdog for snack. I am drinking my Water now and will take 2 more bottles with me. I really don't think I am bad enough to need an IV but I am dehydrated. My doctor told me that I should be urinating 4 times a day and I have only gone 2 times a day since surgery. Luckily I am not tired (anymore than normal) that is why I am asking my friends here what to do. I know once I get that bad, I may have done damage and am trying to prevent that. I have read and truly thank you all for such good advice! I will use it all and hope it helps me stay out of the hospital. I read others post-op diets and I think mine was a bit too agressive so I will try to do my own to benefit my stomach. chicken will be limited and I will stay with Soups and soft things more for a few more days/weeks. Well I'm off to work, everyone have a blessed day!!! -

Thx for the encouraging words. I really don't like cottage cheese and have not tried the greek yogurt only because the plain did not agree with me but will try some tomorrow. Cheese is great but milk will never be my friend now that it has to be skim or lowfat. I can't get used to the taste. I would rather Water down whole milk. Frustrating is to say the least! I want to eat and not feel like I have a eating disorder I know it's the beginning but this is really harder than the pre-op diet or even letting go of my cheesecake and other favs. I have no desire to eat anything anymore and really would rather drink than eat because of the side effects. I will give it a few more weeks and if things have not changed, I will make an appt to a nutrtionist. -

Do you still enjoy food?
Ms Lady in NC replied to sasicas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with you on eating being a chore but that's only because I am newly sleeved. I think only eating a few bites compared to mouthfuls takes the fun out of it. But I still enjoy going out and spending time with family or friends. We joke about how much of an item I will eat and they copy me but I know the last laff will be mine when I am 100 pounds lighter this time next year! As for being cheap, I tell hubby to the same thing and then he reminds me of the wardrobe he knows I will be buying soon so he says I am more of a tease -
No weight loss in 4 days
Ms Lady in NC replied to lifechanges's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Add me to the stall list but as the other vets said, it is normal hopefully. I even gained a pound before stalling out going on 4 days now. We just need to try to be patient and get used to our new sleeves. I still get on the scale every nite but do not stress over something that I have no control over. It will be okay and we will soon be losers again. Just keep pushing protein and fluids -
Weird Food Cravings
Ms Lady in NC replied to MrWillard's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been having the same craving since getting home for a chef salad and I have never been a fan of that. I think it is just our minds messing with us knowing we can't have whatever it is. I don't harp on it though and the scale moving is reason enough for me to say no thank you -
Learning about this new sleeve - TMI alert
Ms Lady in NC replied to Beadingnurse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad the doc said it was just that and nothing serious. I too have to get used to the size portions to prevent getting the slimes but we are still early in this journey and I am sure we will catch on soon. Take your time and chew, chew, chew...then before you swallow, chew some more is how my doc explained it to me. -

What are some "Sleeve-Friendly" restaurants?
Ms Lady in NC replied to Ms Lady in NC's topic in Food and Nutrition
I have most all the places here in NC you mentioned except aTapas style place that I know of. But I now know how to better handle hubby wanting to go out. I was telling him how it is such a waste but didn't think about sharing off of his plate (if allowed). That will be my best bet right now since I am only able to eat a couple bites still. Thx again for the help everyone! I am still trying to learn the ins and outs as I go and he is getting anxious to go out and about so thought I would ask before I tried. -

Ugh! Another 1 pound week... wahhhh!
Ms Lady in NC replied to Jennywren's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great advice!!! And I love the thought of seeing my size 24's hit the floor when I try them on I need to keep that in mind when I stall out! It seems so easy now but when the scale doesn't move, I will be freaking out like most others have. I think we are somewhat spoiled by the great initial loss and want to see results like that the whole way down. But that would be somewhat dangerous to lose so much nonstop. I don't mind it slowing to even a pound a week as long as it is not at a complete standstill for more than a few weeks. You will be fine and after your body adjusts to the shock, i' sure you will be a loser again -
Did you monitor your body temperature ?
Ms Lady in NC replied to kemo46's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it is wise to do so for a week or so after. I did and that was what helped me realize I had an infection that luckily was caught early enough to only need antibiotics....I averaged about 99.2-3 before the infection and it spiked to 100.9 when I began to feel something was wrong. -
Made it thru Eater dinner!!
Ms Lady in NC replied to SpiceyMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Any Easter Bunnies Cheating?
Ms Lady in NC replied to PrincessFluffy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Does popcorn count? Hubby took me to the movies for my bday yesterday and I had probably a handful during the movie. But I stopped and let him finish the bag and said that was my bday cake -
Chocolate Milk
Ms Lady in NC replied to mandems mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like Tiff said, the sugar may upset you more than you want. If I drank more than the allowed 4 oz of juice I was running to the bathroom the first few days. But everyone is different. I would be more concerned with the extra cals so maybe the Silk or low-carb version would be better than plain chocolate milk. I still have a prob with lactose products so I am gonna wait a few more weeks before trying again. But my doc did tell me skim milk only was preferred. -
Just said yes to couple's retreat in August
Ms Lady in NC posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
II know we all lose weight differently but was trying to see what my chances are to drop another 4 sizes by August. I just FINALLY fit into a size smaller this week (22W) after losing almost 40 lbs and would love to be in a 16W by then. I am now 292 and 6 feet tall if that makes a difference. So I wanted to see what everyone's average was 3 months after the initial month post-op? Also, I would love to know what your exercise routine (if any) was after the 1st month? I am going to my doc in the morn and am gonna ask if I can do some light cardio or something to keep my loss moving. I feel like I am ready to do more than the 2 hours a day I am walking. Any input would be greatly appreciated and Happy Easter everyone! -
You're gonna look horrible for a while...
Ms Lady in NC replied to samantha209's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Girl I have been home a couple weeks now and already had many similar statements. At first it was bothering me, not because of what people think, but because I did not prepare myself for the attention. They know I did something to better myself and like always, a lot of people I know are "partypoopers". They are the ones that always talk but never act aqnd once again, Gina is doing something she said she would. I am not a hip hopper but am now using the term "HATER" more than ever. Don't even waste your time replying to the drama. I now smile and say if I get too small or never lose another pound, it is my biz and nobody else's. -
We are all cheaters and taking the easy way out
Ms Lady in NC posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
About 4 of my close friends who were against me initially having surgery have now begun asking questions about the sleeve so they can possibly join me as a loser. The heaviest is a size 16 and now instead of just dieting, wants to go the "easy route" like me as she calls it. I spent over 2 hours on the phone explaining what info I learned in my 2 years of researching all wls procedures. But it kinda annoys me and made me wonder if anyone else had people say they were losinng the easy way or cheating? I feel like this is anything but that and really hate people thinking having major surgery, eating like a bird for months if not years, and having to constantly monitor themselves medically for defenciencies is easy! She is a best friend so I know she didn't mean to totally insult me but the next person that calls wls easy or cheating will get a real good piece of my mind -
We are all cheaters and taking the easy way out
Ms Lady in NC replied to Ms Lady in NC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I showed her today just how easy I am having it when I was with her 1/2 the day and she saw my routine of sipping every 10-15 minutes. Then I showed her exactly how much I could eat and she retracted her statement! She said she didn't know it was that time consuming to have to do all that I do and said she never meant it that way. Yeah right. But I took other's advice and just stop trying to prove my point because ultimately, I am the only one that truly knows how easy or hard it is. She is a friend but not even best friends understand everything we do. I gave her info and websites she asked for to research the surgery and left it at that. She will be the 1st and last person I do that to. From now on I will say I am losing from eating and exercising as I should and that's it. -

Hungry, or not...after surgery
Ms Lady in NC replied to SpiceyMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Talking about fighting temptation...my little girl came home yesterday with a Wendy's frosty saying it was my reward for doing so good and boy did I want to taste it along with whatever she had in the bag for herself but instead I said thanks but I couldn't. The soft cals will be what does me in I know so I am staying away from all dairy including yogurt. I instead keep sf Jello and popsicles on hand to fill my sweet tooth as needed. -
still not feeling well
Ms Lady in NC replied to Jen Jen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Awww, I was thinking about you and was about to send you a message when I saw your post. I think you are doing the right thing by going and getting checked out in the morn. I do agree we all heal diff at diff rates so hopefully that is all it is. As for comparison, I too have back pain that comes and goes. I even get little twinges in my lower left side. I think it will really take a good month before we are back closer to what was normal for us. But please do see a doc because a fever is a sign of infection sometimes and the sooner they catch it the easier it will be to deal with. -
Hungry, or not...after surgery
Ms Lady in NC replied to SpiceyMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think like Foxbins said, you will find everyone is different. I have no hunger but notice more acid induced grumbling but like Tiffykins said, take my meds and feel fine. It will all depend on you and how you are as a eater. Emotional eaters or those addicted to food will of course have a harder time mentally than those that aren't. I myself have no problem watching someone eat or smelling food. But seeing the new Hershey's commercial of the minis that look like M&M's really messes with me lol. I think the same way we were determined to have this surgery is the same way we will and do overcome whatever issue we have with it. But I do not think it is hard as the 100's of diets I have been on. The pre-op diet I placed myself on really helped prepare me for what was to come. Being a week and a half out is nothing I know but in that time I have learned my sleeve is now in charge no matter what my eyes or mind wants and that is exactly what I need. -
Quick question about drinking
Ms Lady in NC posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will be 10 days post-op Sunday and today I noticed that I can drink my liquids a lot and I do mean LOT more. In the last few days it took all I had to drink 16 ounces yet today I wake up and immediately drink almost 6 oz. then a few mins later another 4-5 oz. This evening I drank almost 8 oz. of broth and got scared because my pouch is supposed to only hold 4 oz.. All together today I have drank 38 oz almost double and am beginning to worry if something is wrong. I do notice my shakes cause less intake than clears but is it okay to be able to drink so much clear?
