I used Nioxin but it only stopped my hair from falling, didnt help with the hair that I had already lost. I'm looking into the Biotin. I've heard a lot of people talking about that. We'll see if it works.

Need Support From Sleevers 1 Year Or More. Help!
gordatoflaca posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I started the process for VSG surgery in August of 2010. I was able to lose 28lbs pre-surgery but I've only lost 45lbs after surgery (3/17/11). Total weight loss 73lbs. I'm stuck. I feel like a failure. So much has changed in my life and it wasnt in a good way. I really need some support from people who understand. The pre-surgery cheerleaders arent there anymore or are a bit hurtful with their tactics (almost a sense of jealousy). My marriage has become a rollercoaster since. And for those who assume it's because I got some super ego or major confidence boost, no that's not it. Quite the contrary, I feel like my husband became less attractive to me. I need to work on me and my confidence. But I also need to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Your support and advice is greatly appreciated. I havent kept up with this website because to be honest with you it's a little overwhelming and I'm not a blogger/internet wizzard. lol Start weight 8/28/10 = 260lbs Todays weight = 187 -

Thank You Cheri & PDXman, sorry I didnt respond sooner. I dont get on here much. Time for me is limited. I'm still stuck at 187 but since I last posted I had surgery again. I'd been dealing with Gallstones for over a year and doctors kept treating it as Acid Reflux I was also taken off any exercise for 2 months. I had bursitis in both of my legs. But I'm not starting to work out again and I feel great. I'm looking forward to losing more weight. Thanks for the tips and advice. -

Awe man, I guess everyone thinks that I need to see a therapist. lol. Yes, I agree that it contributes to stress. And I have been seeing someone since last summer. And maybe I made the mistake of mentioning my marriage in my post because I dont want the comments/focus of your responses to be about that. I havent been on this thing for several months and I'm already getting freaked out. J/K. Please please please disregard that part and give me tips such as the ones that Globetrotter & MSanti have provided. I would also appreciate recipe's that you may know of that the whole family would enjoy. I've hate making seperate meals (it's exhausting) because I've ran out of ideas that they would like. Snack options. Exercise video suggestions are great to. Way to many products/gimmicks out there and I dont want to spend on unecessary things. Thanks to all of you for your comments, i honestly do appreciate them. -

I got that part. Thanks lol. But what I want from others on this page is support with the weight loss process. I'm sure that many people out there have lot's of tips on what's worked for them in regards to exercise & eating habits. The support I'm looking for is not in regards to my marriage. -

OMG your weight loss is awesome. Based on your profile picture you would never imgaine that you needed it. Anyway, I'll admit that I have alot going on in my life. Although things have gotten better with my husband, they arent the best. I work 10 hour shifts and when I get home I am a single mother (hubby works nights) of 3 trying to get things done in 1 1/2 hours (before bedtime for kids). By the time they are out, I'm burned out. However, I do walk/run on the treadmill (2-3 miles a day). I also have a few medical conditions that I think may be contributing to my pause in weight loss (Thyroid & Hormone problems). Grrrrr, honestly I just wish that I had someone that I can talk to about this whole experience that can provide input. My family is a hispanic family that loves to eat (with no weight gain) and always call you out in front of others about your weight, pant size etc. Tried to post profile picture but something seems to go wrong each time. SMH.... lol -
Hi Lisa, Thanks for adding me as a friend. I look forward to sharing my experience with you and asking about yours for support. Wishing you the best in your journey.

What to expect 7 months after surgery
gordatoflaca posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm happy and dissapointed at the same time. I have lost a total of 67 pounds (includes pre-surgery weightloss) but I'm wondering if it is not enough considering the time that has passed. I feel great physically but emotionally it has been a rollercoaster. Especially when it pertains to my marriage. People have been supportive and others have just been MEAN. This experience was alot harder than I thought but when I think about the energy I have gotten back, and the activities that I can do with my kids, it is so worth it. Although I never considered myself extremely obese, under medical standards, I guess I was. I am learning everyday about the changes I need to make and keep in order to succeed. Please if anyone is 7 months out, tell me about your weight loss. I want to see if I am doing ok . P.S. my confidence has changed so much that I take more time in getting ready. I feel great. I feel beautiful. I've gone from a size 20 to a size 14. Sad part is that I lost my friends (boobs) lol. When I lose my goal weight, I plan on having surgery to remove excesssssssss skin and to make my boobs happy again. Good Luck Everyone -
What to expect 7 months after surgery
gordatoflaca replied to gordatoflaca's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks Everyone, I really need this type of support. My after surgery was not quite what I expected. I wish you all strenght and great success. Not trying to be "Debbie Downer" but this experience didnt work out the way I imagined. The truth is that I did it in the hopes of helping my marriage out (or so I thought). It seems that the opposite has happened. And before anyone jumps to conclusions, No, it's not cause of I'm being unfaithful or even wanting to be. It seems like my husband has lost complete interest in me and that devastates me. I've received MANY great compliments but instead of feeling flattered, I feel angry that it's not coming from my husband. Everyday I work on my self esteem. It's funny though cause I really do feel better but for some reason I let his actions (or lack of) take over. I love my husband so much and I really thought that I would have his support. I have been blessed with wonderful co-workers that have had other bariatric surgeries and offer me advice. I am learning a lesson and that lesson is that I have to make myself happy and not depend on anyone else for it. GOOD LUCK ALL, and thanks again for your comments. -

lol. Felt the exact way 2 days into it. You will be fine. I have lost over 30lbs in 2 months and I feel great. This website helps because you can speak to people in the same stages of this journey. Good Luck, it is totally worth it. -
I am 10 weeks out since surgery. I am 34 yrs old and of course child bearing age. Although, I would love to have more children, right now is not the time. It's kind of ironic because prior to surgery (last 10 years) I've dealt with infertility issues and other medical issues. I used to be on birth control for hormones but now I am being advised that it wont be effective for preventing pregnancy. Sex is very important in my marriage  but I'm very paranoid even with a condom. Can any of you tell me what you are using?

Reality really does set in the day of the surgery. I started my pre-surgery diet in Aug. 2010 and lost 22 lbs by the suregery date of 3/17/11. The day after the surgery I realized that this was all about me. If you have the support around you GREAT, if you don't, then get prepared to be your own support. This is so hard but soooooo rewarding. I got sick 10 years ago and started gaining weight every year after that . I am proud to be 51 lbs lighter today. I feel great. I am healthier. and everyday I look forward to losing more weight.**I LOOK GREAT TOO**. There will be negative people out there that will try to bring you down, it is up to you to put all that aside an focus on your goal. I wish you the best of luck. This website has been a great source of support for me. I've been able to ask questions that any other person would not relate too or understand.

Contraception After Surgery
gordatoflaca replied to gordatoflaca's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Because of the other Gynecological medical issues I suffer from, It was recommended that I get the Mirena IUD. This is such a conflicting situation. Because on one hand you dont want to get pregnant and on the other you dont want anything to get in your way of losing it. Regarding the birth control. I was given 2 reasons for it not working. One is the malabsorbtion but the other was because of the sudden weight loss has thrown all of the hormones out of wack. lol. Well I am really enjoying sex even more after the weight loss, I'm hoping that getting the IUD will take away the worry that comes into mind during the act. Good Luck to all of you on your weight loss journey. I am thankful to all of you for your advice and responses. -
3 weeks into it and I don't know what to expect
gordatoflaca posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
3 weeks ago yesterday I had the Laparascopic Sleeve Gastrectomy at Kaiser Hospital. I weighed 260lbs at referral time. Prior to surgery I lost 22 lbs with weight watchers. Since having the surgery (3/17/11) I've lost 16 lbs. I dont know if this is normal weight loss. I knew this wasn't going to be easy but it seems harder now that that surgery has been done. All those people that offered me support seem to have disappeared and those that are around dont understand how hard it is. I can barely eat a portion of the sample menu and I have started walking 2 miles a day. So I am kind of concerned that I am not losing the weight like I should. I am really hoping to lose at least 100 lbs. -

Wow, thanks to all of you for your kind words. I am doing better. Today I hit my total 50lb loss and after surgery 28lb loss. I spoke to a doctor and she told me that the average weight loss is 30 lbs in 3 months. I'm just completeing 2.5 monts so it seems that I am right on track. I wish you all a journey filled with support and success. -
Thank You for posting this. I thought I was the only one feeling like this. I have lost 24 lbs since my surgery (3/17/11). I follow the diet and I am walking too but it just seems so slow. I am still very proud of the total weight loss that I have accomplished though (45lbs total). I will continue to work hard and hopefully not get discouraged. Keep up the good work.
