Cosmetic Surgery Consult Today - Now Confused!
ttny007 replied to ev1988's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
What state are you in? I had just the tummy tuck self pay and I paid 8500.00 my dr is ranked in the top 3 in the country. My dr refuses to do arms until they perfect the surgery since the scar goes Dow to the elbow. Everyone has opinions but also check with the plastic surgery boards and see what. They have to say. -
Cosmetic Surgery Consult Today - Now Confused!
ttny007 replied to ev1988's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I went to many consultations before I picked which dr I decided to use and I will tell you it was worth the investment. Everyone i saw said they don't like to do the upper body at the same time as the lower body, it's physically hard. Not saying they wouldn't but they preferred not to. Don't jump at the first dr and research it to death. You have to do what is best for you and remember you want a dr that has done many band patients. Go with a list of questions because when you get in there it can be overwhelming and you don't want to miss anything. After I got my band I started Pilates on the reformer, my dr was shocked at how quick my TT healed and how I was in target shopping the first week! If you need some questions to ask just let me know I would be more than happy to send you a list. -
Nobody Prepares you for this part...

I think I'm a little of both lol. I look in the mirror and can't believe I'm this thin and I love that I can put on a size 6 where I used to be a tight 22, however I am finding that the clothes are really ugly. I'm 54 and I don't want to look like rainbow sherbet! I find I'm more frustrated now I think because I have more options which I didn't have before. -

Great news letter! Summer time is a more social time, which could be a food disaster, but making good choices and being prepared helps. Thanks Alex -
Friday I had my TT. Was not bad and I believe doing Pilates 3 days a week is why. So today I was able to take all the bandages off and shower with the special soap he gave me. All I could do was stand there and stare at myself in the mirror. My stomach is Flat, I know it's suppose to be but I just guess I wasn't really believing it was going to be flat. I have a new belly button that's kind of cute lol. I'm swollen in the legs but that will go down. I just can't stop smiling. I've never had a flat tummy and to think it only took me 54 years! I'm thank all of you for your advice, it really helped with the journey. My dr doesn't use drains and the nurse had me get maxi pads and after my shower she said I should attach them to my panties in case there was leakage. This works great the only thing I would add is maybe crotchless panties so that you don't have to take the binder off all the time. I will keep you posted as time goes by.

I paid out of pocket. This surgery wasn't bad at all. In a week I was out shopping. Everyone is different but I will tell you I do Pilates which I started right after my band surgery (June 2011). Had my TT march 1. It made all the difference in the world. My Dr said doing Pilates made his job easier and my healing easier. Make sure you do everything the dr says, get your protein in and Walk. The more you move the quicker you'll heal. I'm back at the gym I just do what ever doesn't hurt. Sneezing hurts so hold a pillow and sneeze with your mouth open. This is a life changing surgery, more than the band, the band helped me change my lifestyle to a healthy one but this surgery is a very visual one. I had a hanging lower abdomen for 29 years and I can tell you when he took off the bandages I cried, not from pain but from being able to see my feet and my other parts with out bending forward, stepping out of the shower and not lifting the skin to dry off, putting on a pair of pants with out smashing the skin in to zip up, all the things that were normal for me were gone and in place of that was a whole new world. Not only will this change your body but it will change your emotional look at your body.

Ok so I'm 4 1/2 weeks post op from my TT and I notice when ever I wear my spanx I can't eat as much. Did anyone else experience this sensation?
-
I'm still swollen which will take time but my scar looks great. The recovery was not bad at all, the worst part is sneezing! I have been doing Pilates for 2 years and my dr said that's what made all the difference. I would tell anyone getting a TT to do Pilates for about 6 months prior.

Ok that's an up close picture of my scar 4 weeks post op
-
My dr gave me some scar stuff that he wants me to start at 6 weeks. My scar is a faint red line which I really thought would be much more noticeable than it is. Once the scabs came off I've been putting organic coconut oil on my belly just to keep it soft, but don't know if that did anything. Saw the dr at 4 weeks and he was amazed at how good everything looks. I will attempt to put pictures.

I had no drains I just found it strange but not complaining surgery was not bad at all, I only hope the next one goes as well. I love my Dr. And that has a lot to do with it. I had so my consultations from different ones and it is amazing what some of them will tell you.

soreness after tt near the new port site
ttny007 replied to latisha_wilson2002's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I'm only a month post op TT but maybe your getting feeling back in the area, I would call the dr just to be on the safe side. -
Ok so I just finished week 2 after my TT and things are great except I caught my husbands cold so sneezing is a OMG moment. Other than that no more pain meds and cutting back on the Advil. The brushing is almost gone, I have been massaging them daily. The swelling is going down and as that does so is the weight. If I get brave enough ill put up pictures lol.

How much did the extra skin weigh for a TT?
ttny007 replied to khath0620's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I didn't ask him how much the skin weighed that he took off. If your trying to get your insurance to pay, you have to jump through hoops, document monthly with the dr the rashes and they said you have to maintain a hundred pound weight loss for a year. I suggest you call your insurance company and ask they since every one is different. I self paid and my band surgery was June 2011. I lost 110 pounds I am 10 pounds from my goal which is 145. Hope this helps -

I also had the no drain method and love it! I'm one week post op and my PS was shocked to see how great I'm doing. Pilates is what helped me so much, not just leading up to the surgery but afterwards to. My arms and core are stronger for lifting myself. One week out an PS said I look like someone 3 weeks out. I'm down to only one pain pill and on day 6 I went to target! Walk walk walk and lots of water it really helps speed up recovery, I'm already standing up straight! -
One week check up today and the dr was shocked! Said I look like I'm 3 weeks out not one. I'm only taking one pain pill at night. Last night I spent an hour at target and tonight went out to dinner with friends. Lots of walking and drinking water. Doctor said he was very pleased and I'm just too excited lol.

Surgery went great! He said the Pilates really helped my abs and he had less work to do. Do Pilates it works
-
Try and do lots of AB work before your surgery, it made such a difference for me. If you have any questions just ask me good luck
-
I'm feeling really good, not that much pain I'm just amazed when I look at my flat tummy and my curved waist! I'm standing up straight and walking a lot. The worst part is the bruising on my thighs
