  1. Hi Cee, I can totally relate to the never losing weight aspect! I have had major thyroid issues since I was 18 and have always worked out at least 4x a week, but as I got older was never able to lose more than a few pounds. One of the main reasons besides weight loss that I had this surgery is that there were times that I seemed to have raging hunger pain, even after having just finished a meal. For the most part that has diminished. I had plication surgery with Dr. Watkins on March 11th of 2011 so I'm just one year shy of my anniversary date. I had a fantastic experience with him, his staff and the surgery center and do not regret it for a second. I knew that for me the challenge would be that I have a lower BMI than a lot of people having the surgery so for the weight loss would be slow going. At first to be honest, I was a little discouraged that it seemed that I would only lose a half pound here, a half pound there, but as of last week I've finally lost 30 lbs, with 15 to go to put me into a healthy BMI. I realize that even though it may take me another 6 months, I will get there. I've switched up my exercise routine and have dropped some cardio and added TRX which has helped considerably, so while the pounds aren't flying off, I'm shaping up quite nicely - good thing because I'm sure they will ask for some progress pics next week.......
  2. I had plication surgery 4 weeks ago. I lost 3 pounds pre-surgery, 6 pounds the first week of surgery and 2 pounds the second week. I have not lost an ounce since then and I've been militant about my diet and exercising 6x a week. I know that I need to take my lower starting BMI into consideration and the fact that my clothes are fitting much more loosley but really, a stall after week 2? I'm not sure what I can do differently. The doctors office hasn't followed up in over 3 weeks. Any suggestions?

    A NEW ME!

Hello, I have been on this board reading everything for months and now it's my turn to add something! I had Gastric Plication on Friday, March 11th with Dr. Brad Watkins. I flew across the country on a redeye to make it by 12:30pm for an afternoon surgery and arrived early as planned and wouldn't you know it, I was moved up on the schedule to 10:30am. Dr. Watkins spent some time with me before I went in and answered all my questions before we went in to surgery. Amazing bedside manor and the people in his office and in the surgery center and the anesthsiologist were first rate. I was out 2 minutes after entering the surgical suite and he repaired a large hernia and worked his magic on my stomach. I didn't even have time to get nervous if I was heading in that direction. He made sure that when I woke up any pain was managed immediately and I was very comfortable while at the facility. I truly felt like the only patient in the facility I was so well taken care of. I'm feeling so much better I'm heading back to the office tomorrow AND nothing short of a miracle for me - I've already lost 4 lbs! I can't say enough about Dr Watkins and the care his office shows and I'm looking forward to my weight loss journey with new hope. (50 lbs to go!)
