In 1992 I was 7 months pregnant when my appendix rupture and I went into thyroid storm. After everything was said and done I was the happy mother of 1 cute little preemie baby boy and minus one very unhappy appendix. Since I was so young (19) my physicians suggested the I go through RAI therapy for my extremely overactive thyroid. My mother and I was told that it is easier to treat an under-active thyroid and that this would be a better long term treatment. I was not told that my body would totally change...I went from being able to eat anything and not gaining weight to looking at anything and gaining a ton. In 2000 while working as a nurses aide I injured my back...I did not start having issues until a couple of years ago. I can not stand or walk for long periods of time. I have tried countless diets...slim-fast for 9 years, that keep my weight from going over 200. Then I meet the love of my life (my current husband) and I got happy and comfortable....the weight poured on. In 2006 I went on a low-carb diet with the help of adipex and lost over a 100 pounds during that year. I went from a size 26 to a size 20 and everything was great but, I grew tired of the inconvenience and slowly went back to eating normal. The pounds came back and now it is 2009 and I am 312 and growing. I have done my Internet research and with the help of my physician we decided on the lap-band.
