The more I think about itthe more I am not happy with her reply. I wrote her back giving a little more detail (just a little), but she sent me 2 emails after that without one follow up question or comment- WTH! Sreiously-she couls at least say something. Okay so I am guessing I'll get no support from her but at least she knows. On a happier no she asked if I was going to our grade school reunion in August and I said yes! I don't like to go normally but it will be 2 1/2 months post surgery date bythen so I should be thinner. I will tell my hubby and I will probably ease into it. His birthday is this weekend so I wantto wait until after this weekend.

1st date in a long time --- TERRIFIED!!!
NJGirl32 replied to Pammy S Lewis's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
How Exciting!! I met my hubby on match.com but I had to go on A Lot of dud dates-but it was worth it! We will be waiting for details!! -
Okay - I previously wrote that I wasn't sure if I wanted to tell my husband or not. So far I have not told ANYONE - only the woman I work with who recommended the doctor. Today I get a call and they can move my surgery to May 25th - which is SO much better then the end of June for me. I Have a lot going on work-wise the end of June and all of July. So the date is changed to next month and I still haven't told my husband, daughters, or my best friend. Why am I so chicken?!! I know at the very least I should tell my husband. My daughters and best friend can wait until after the surgery. You know we were out to eat at a restuarant and we heard a rock band-awesome time. He told me I was the best looking woman in the room and that I am always the best looking woman in the room and he said I would say that even if I wsn't your husband. Now that was SO sweet. I think my real issue is that I am a vrey independent person and extremely private -especially which such personal things. When I wentthrough my divorce (first marriage) I was very private as well and didn't tell my parents much at all. It's just who I am. But a lot of people on this board are right about how I should share something like this with my husband- I am just not there yet. Part of me still thinks I can do this on my own-really-but the other part says I should tell him ASAP. My best friend and I email everyday and I still haven't told her ( we have been BF for over 40 yrs.). I am glad it's moved to May because I can get a jump start on looking good for summer-but I need to tell him! His birthday is coming up and I am planning a big party for him-maybe I will tell him after all that is over with -which would be May 1st! Why do I complicate things so much?!!

I was nervously awaiting her reply-really anixious and then she sent an email and about halfwaythrough she wrote: "I don’t know anything about the lapband. What is it? I know it has to do with weight loss. What kind of surgery is involved? Don’t worry I wouldn’t say anything." So all my worrying and panicing and she doesn't even know anything about the band. She knows friends that have had Gastoc By pass though. I wrote her a reply expaining a little about it. I was really surprized that she didn't know more about it. She is not heavy and never battled with weight so maybe she just doesn't know? What if my husband doesn't know either? I never complipated havingto explain what it is.

I can't believe you went to Home Depot the day after surgery- that makes me feel reassured that I won't be in severe pain for a few days afterwards! Congrats on your exciting journey!!

What an awesome topic!! I am smiling just readingthem all! I love the couples resort idea and pole dancing! lol 1. Buy leather boots 2. Belly Dancing Lessons ( great exercise) 3. Parasaling 4. Hoeseback Riding 5. Take more trips on the back of my Hubby's bike or get myself an automatic motorcycle-I already have the license but I hate all the clutch/shifting 6. Sit in an airplane seat and not stress about the belt or who will sit nextto me 7. Go to New Orleans and dance, dance, dance! 8. Get monthly nails, pedi, and waxings-indulge in a better way! Maybe even spa treatments a few times a year 9. Sunbath topless at some island resort! lol

My Gastro said I will need to have the scope done at the hospital and I need someone to drive me home afterwards-is this true? I live pretty far and would rather drive home myself if I am able. I heard that you really should be fine to drive home after the scope -please share your experiences! Thanks so much!

It's my understanding that there will be 3-4 small incisions on the belly - are they big? Do they leave a scar? Does anyone have a picture of there after surgery scars? I am just trying to prepare myself for what it will look like - I have stretch mark from being pregnant so I am not worried about bikini wear-just curious!

Okay-how messed up is this...I am on this forum eating 2 pieces of white pizza pie! I find myself eating more because I know I am getting the surgery in 2 months! WTH? Did this happen to anyone else>

I read a lot about certain foods getting stuck -what the heck does that mean exactly? Does that mean you have to throw up, burp, or simple cough?? My nurtitionist also mention food getting stuck in the opening of the pouch? Am I committing myself to a lifetime of getting sick?

:)Wow! What an inspiring story!! Congratualtions on all your hard work! It gives me inspiration!

Okay, I think I am ready for this procedure...but I really don't wantto tell anyone-not even my husband. My friend at work knows but I am thinking of doing this on my own. I am afraid my husband will tell people and truthfully it's embarassingthat I got to this weight. After the surgery I was just going to stay at a nearby hotel for the first night. I might tell my best friend, but that's it. Has anyone not told their children or their husband? Thanks!

Thanks for all the replies about foofing! lol Okay-one more question -when food gets stuck and you need to vomit does that mean you need to force yourself to vomit (fingers down throat) or that you suddenly feel like you have to vomit? Is it just a quick vomit or are you over the toilet barfing. I know it's a gross question, but I need to know what I'm in store for! Thanks again everyone!

How unsightly are the incisions?
NJGirl32 replied to NJGirl32's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can I ask everyone whatthe long scar is? I thought originally that was the port-but now I don't think it is. Thanks for sharing everyone! -
Looks like I'll need someone to drive me home : ( I was really hoping it wouldn't be that bad!
-
I love this site! You guys are awesome! Thanks for being there to vent and for all the reassurance...it really means more than you know!

It's good to hear that someone else was terrified o tell their husband! Thanks for sharing that : ) Thanks to all the people on this board I am realizing that this is something I need to tell him. I really wish I could have loss the weight on my own, but that's not happening and I am not getting any younger. I want to enjoy my midlife years being healthy and fit. All of the success stories are so inspiring!! I can't imagine being a 100 lbs thinner by this time next year- I would be thrilled just to be 60 pounds thinner!
-
I mean "food-not foof" lol Eating is a chore??? Really?? I still wantto enjoy some foods (in moderation of course). It's such a social act. I am not a chewer and that's something I'll need to do.

Hello! Dr. STorm is doing my band in June-please let me know how you guys make out in May!! Good luck to you!
-
Well, I can't tell you how many times I have read the replies to this topic and thank you all! I still haven't told my life long best friend or my husband. I am schedule for the end of June and have had 2 doctor's appoints thus far (nutritionist and Pum.). I am still noy a 100% about telling him but I am definitely leaning heavily towards it (nopun intended! lol). I wreally do wonder what he'll say or think? I definitely will let you all know what I decide. This forum has been a godsend to me since I am alone in it for now-onlt the girl I work with knows. I keep thinkingthat this time next year I'll be thin-wow-that's an awesome thought! Again, a great big thank you from this Jersey Girl!

I read over my brochure from the doctors and it mentions that some people experience dumping-what exactly does that mean? I am not going to not make it to the fr*ggen bathroom??? I hope it doesn't mean that. Can anyone shed some light on this and did it happen to you? I am worried-I travel far to work each day.

W@W!!! This band really works!
NJGirl32 replied to brbm6's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great!! Do you think about food or are you completely full and can't even think about having another thing?
