  1. That's exactly what I mean-my husband hasn't brought it up either. Now maybe I just underplayed it when I told him about it. I said "Oh it's an outpatient surgery completely reversable, etc." But I am not sure if he realizes I will need help that first few days and I will be on liquids for a while. I am sure we'll go out to dinner tonight and I will bring it up again. I mean it's not like I decide djust to get a tooth pulled-this is life altering! Sometimes I think men just don't think! Really what does supportive mean anyway? Does supportive mean accepting it or actally taking a vested interest in it. I bet it will hit him when I am at the hospital!

You look amazing!! What a difference! Congratualtions!!! Okay, now you have a cute girlish figure you need to get rid of the baggy tops-your weight lost will be much more noticable. I know it's hard to rid ourselves of the oversized tops-but you have worked way too hard to hide that figure! You go girl!!
  3. Hello! I also live in Middlesex counrt NJ- how are you doing since you're surgery? Where did you go to get it done?

    A little sad

Don't let negativity stand in the way of your goals. The truth is if you keep doing what you've always done-you'll keep getting what you've always gotten. This is YOUR life-own it! Have you read the success stories on this forum? That should help inspire you. As far as your friend goes- well-they are her feelings but this is YOUR body. You probably have mixed emotions too-but you need to keep your eye on the prize (being skinny and getting healthy). I don'tthink my BFF (of over 40 yrs.) will be supportive at all so I am opting not to tell her my daily progress-and that's okay. She's still my friend but the focus of our friendship will not be my weight loss. You can do this-really you can! Remember you are the captain of this ship-not anyone else-it's your life girl-you've got this!
  5. I haven't gotten the band yet (11 more days!) but I would think that you don't have restriction in the band and need a fill. People that seem to have restriction feel full with very little. Also, don't set yourself up for failure-if you know a meal comes with fries or onion rings ask for a salad instead of the fries. Don't bring the crap home either-doggie bags are only for good stuff! You CAN do this- you own it,worked for it, and now you need to steer this is the right direction. Good luck to you !
  6. AWESOME!!! That is really encouraging! I have my surgery in 11 days and so often we heard the problems on this forum (which is understandable-people looking for help and support) but it's so nice to hear something positive and encouraging! Please continue to keep us posted!

I would so like to be a pre-op!

I voted for you too!! Good luck I hope you win!
  8. I think it's about time that Lapband gets out there and promoted on radio and TV-seriously it seems like such a hidden procedure. The more that people hear about the more accepting it becomes. Great commerial - howver I do agree that it sounds like they are saying Latband instead of Lapband.
  9. I am so glad to hear everything went so smoothly!! Speedy recovery to you!
  10. Hello Jersey girls! My surgery is May 25th. Just had my Endoscope- a little sore today from that.

    I FINALLY TOLD HUBBY!!!!!

Jona I am in the same boat as you. I am hoping that things "heat up" a little more when I lose the weight. Things have slowed down considerably since I put on the weight. I am looking forward to feeling sexy again!
  15. Okay-the house was emaply and I took down the newspaper advertisment for the Lapband seminar that my doctor advertises. I went down to his office and said do you have a minute I'd like to talk to you about something (I guess he thought it would be the fight). I handed him the newspaper and said I would like to get this. He studied it and said "I didn't know you were interested in this" and I said I am would you support me if I did it and he said sure. Then I told him the surgery was in 2 weeks and he blocked out the day from work. He was very calm and asked a few questions. I went over to him and pointed to the before and after pic in the newpaper ad and he said -they are going to want you to model for the doctor. I thought that was very sweet. 100% total support!! I went over and gave him a hug and a kiss on the cheek. I am SO happy!! I told him I wanted to keep it just between else for now and I would prefer to decide who I'd like to tell and he agreed to keep request private. Then he asked if I was going to tell my daughters and I said probably after the surgery and I'll tell my mom once I start losing some weight too. Thank you all for your support through all this drama-You all are AWESOME!!! I love this site

  21. I see Dr. Strom - he is suppose to be great! I am in Central Jersey but he is in North Jersey at Mountainside Hospital. How about you? Glad your appointments are working out so far!

  22. Congrats and good luck to you! My surgery is the 25th so we'll be pretty close! From my understanding you'll need loose fitting stretchy type pants, a robe, maybe an ipod with some music on it (that's more for me-lol), some things to read,, a defiitely a small pillow for the ride home-to put on your belly. I hope we both has lots of success with this!
