Congrats!! I'll save a spot for you in Bandster-land-I'm going in on the 25th! -
Great idea!!! You'll do it!

Today I tried the unjury mixed with Water and Crystal light- not too bad. I think I would like this as a smoothie with ice in a blender. I also think it would be good with one of my Carnation drinks and I would only need a half of a scoop since the carnation drinks have a good amount of protein-I'll try that one when I get home. The pre-op diet is going to be tough! lol I had 1/2 cup of oatmeal, 1 cup of V8, and a Protein water-based drink. My delcious lunch consists of a Atkins shake and yogurt. My body is goingto go into shock every allthe food I have beenpiling in it these last few weeks!!

That gives me such hope!!! I looked at your ticker and thought that could be me next year-we were/are about the same weight. I can't even ever imagine wearing a size 2!!!!!!!! How great that must feel!! Can you share any secrets to your success? Did you have restriction right away?

Reverie - did you really reach Onerland after 1 month??!! Is that even possible?

Had the last supper today...well the last Breakfast, lunch, and dinner too! ACtually I have been pigging out like I'll never eat again! lol Today I was SO bad-egg mc muffin. tacos, cinnabon, and hubby took me out for king crab legs..oh plus cheese cake and Sangria! I know, I know...I shouldn't have done it...but now I am offically disgusted with my eating habits and ready for the pre-op diet. I'll probably be straving for the next week but it will be worth it I also bought some Protein power at GNC and my unjury came in today. I picked up a vitiam packet at GNC (on sale). Also the best thing was a bottle that looks like a Water bottle but it has a wire in it so when you add protein power and water it's shakes it up good-perfect!! Only $9.95 and I'll get a lot of use out of it-it's called the Blender (but you just shake it). I I told the guy at GNC that I was having the Lapband so he could direct me to the right powders-he was super helpful and very knowledgable! He said if I don't like the punch flavored powder I could return it .

Jonathan from New York City!
NJGirl32 replied to JonathanNY's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks for the updates!!! Speedy recovery to you and I hope you feel better soon-sounds like you are making a smooth transition -
I read that if you eat until you are full that's is not good for the band process. Eating till you are full stretches the pouch slowly over time. And just like a baloon that gets blown up repeatly it tends to stretch-likewise with the pouch. The researcj I read suggest measuring food and eatingthat amount only-basically eating right before the full feeling. PS- Thanks for allthe wonderful insights!! I am feeling hopeful!

I would suggest you talk to your doctor about this and see what he/she says. Are you under a lot of stress or is anything happening in your life that is different (you need to ask yourself these questions). Sometimes therapy can help. I wish you continued success!

How do I tell friends about surgery w/out disclosing type of surgery?
NJGirl32 replied to vucarre's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I vote for hernia repair - they do that a lot while doing the surgery anyway. You've got enough to worry about without having the burden of needing to explain yourself to everyone. Good luck! -
Please don't take this personally but I don't wantto hear about not feeling full-I am looking for hope here!!! lol

Well, you guys know that I finally told my hubby Monday night-thanks to all your support and nudging...wel tonight his work tried to book him on an important business trip the week of my surgery. He told them he has a personal situation to attend too (plus on Monday he already blocked that time out of his schdeule). If I had waited any longer he would have had to go on this trip!!! I am SO glad I told him when I did or else I would have been left home by myself that week!!

Okay so I bought a few Protein shakes so I cam prepare for my pre-op diet and post op diet. I bought Muscle Milk Light (choc-30 grams of protein 200 calories for entire shake)-took a few sips and it has a nasty after taste. Could I drink it? Yes. But I wouldn't look forward to it. I realize if I blend it with ice and a banana it would taste better-but also has more calories. Has anyone tried adding Splenda to their shakes? I also bought the Atkins shakes-only 15 grams of protein-but the price was good.. Bought GNC's Totally Lean Swiss Choc. -haven't tried it yet. Order Unflavored unjury (hate that same for some reason) I am wondering if all the shakes are going to be nasty tasting.

Not feeling as full a month after lap band and before first fill
NJGirl32 replied to TaniaG's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
http://drsimpson.net/fills/Lap-band-eating/lap-band-not-restriction/lap-band-and-restriction.html Read this article because it talks about the "Honeymoon" stage -that first month. I find some things in the article interesting-like not eating until you are full (stopping right before that feeling). -
Muscle Milk Light (choc)
NJGirl32 replied to NJGirl32's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for all the suggestions! I think I need to throw out the Muscle Milk Light Chocolate-it is just too nasty. I wonder if I can put the unflavored Unjury into SF pudding? -

Are Bandsters like Brides???
NJGirl32 replied to NJGirl32's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone- it's nice to know that I am not the only one totally obessed with the band Renne-thanks for sharing your journey with your husband. I hope I get lots more hugs and more affection too! Last night we wentto dinner - I told him this was my last meal for about 4-6 weeks (restuarant). We talked all about the band over dinner-it was really nice. He asked questions and was surprised at some things. He really didn't understand how the band worked so I explained itto him and said it's just a tool and I have to do my part too. He was really listening and it was a great night. I told him I won't be able to lift heavy things like food shopping and maybe laundry-he said for how long..3 years? LOL I said "Yep that's sounds about right!" So we had some serious discussions and a few laughs. But I am still a Bandzilla- -

Thanks Dave! You are probably right-all the interest will come once the weight starts to come off.
