Went back to work today. I have a desk job for the most part but I am sore!! I tried on pants today thinking they might be loose but they weren't, even though I lost weight. Maybe I am still swollen? I really shouldn't have worn pants with a zipper and button because it's digging into my incisions. I have my zipper half unzipped! Anyone going back to work remember to wear loose, stretchy, comforatble pants! I am so tired and sore..but the good part is that my office is nice and cold and it's hot outside!! Tomorrow I move onto mushies!! I can't wait to stop bythe supermarket to get some things in!

LOL! I know excatly what you mean! Good luck with going back to work!

25 yo Paraplegic being banded June 3rd
NJGirl32 replied to Wheelchair's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good Luck!! You will do great!! -
Food breaks down with stomache acids and I don't think gum would. I also think I read that gum causes unnecesary air to be swallowed. Just be careful...post surgery I am required to break up all my pills and I can't even take a capsule without breaking it apart.

Gum is a no-no. I remember a few days post op I bought some and I got so worried that I would accidently swallow it and it would cover the opening to my stomach!!! If you never swallow your gum I guess it shouldn't be a problem-but I am not taking the chance.

Wow Girl, you are kicking butt in losing the weight!! Congrats!!

Not having s good day
NJGirl32 replied to goosemommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did you have your 1 week appointment with your surgeon? I am 1 week out and I am still sore-I think the incision are tighening up and that's a good thing. I also have a couple of stiched that didn't 'fall out'" so he said if they don't he will take them out in 2 weeks. Pain relivers should help with the soreness and an ice pack. I also find that if I sit upright too long it hurts. Now if those are gas pains you're having you'll have to plan to go outside and take a short walk a few times a day. You'll feel better soon-really, you will! -
Yes, what's a body bugg? lol

How many incisions do you have?
NJGirl32 replied to NJGirl32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great I am glad you found it interesting! She writes in a funny way and it's a "go to" book when you have questions about something. -
How many incisions do you have?
NJGirl32 replied to NJGirl32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay, I don't feel so bad! I asked the doc what the larger one near my belly button was and he said that's where they inserted a camera. I have a sad looking belly button-it actually looks like a sad face-I can't wait until it looks like it's whistling a tune!! Dave-you really made me feel better!! Weesie, did your book come yet? -
I AM AN ISLAND
NJGirl32 replied to Bodacious Barbie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't think of yourself as an island...think of yourself as a trailblazer!! -
Funny because my bra seems tight too! I was thinking I can't wait to lose weight in my boobs! I wore stretchy pants today-much better! Belly is still tender though and all my bandages are still on. I look like a battered woman with the bruises from the IVs!! I bruise really easily! *Gordana - I use to have a classroom and I can't imagine going back 4 days post op! That's so sweet that the kids are concerned!

Thanks so much for the update!! So glad he was there for you! Wishing you a speedy recovery!!

I was banded a week ago too. This week I am allowed creamy soups, puddings, oatmeal, etc. I had Italian Wedding soup for dinner-I probably shouldn't have had the balls but I did chew them really good. I feel full now. I am not getting enough water in-have to work on that! I do 2 protein shakes (25 grams of protein a pice) and the shakes fill me up. I bough refried beans, hummus, and ricotta cheese-can't wait tii try them. Did you buy sugar free popcycles-they help a lot! I also bought decaf Chai Tea and that is something really nice to sip on. Good luck to you!

Totally Lean GNC Premade Protein drink. Lots of protein, vitamins and Lactose free. I like the Swiss Chocolate-it's the best I have found. They are about $2.25 a piece but very delicous. I would suggest buying individual bottles of various brands abd tryingthem out! I started out with thick shakes like Atkins but now I am sick of them!

1 Week Pre-op and haven't lost any weight! HELP!

Will I Be Dieting Forever!!??
NJGirl32 replied to GoMamaGo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would be very concerned about the fill process of your band. Discuss your concerns with your doctor and ask him why it doesn't seem to be acting as a too lto help you with your appetite. Something just doesn't sound right if that is all you lost. Be your own advocate and be proactive with your doctor and nutritionist. Plan your meals each day and keep a food journal for a couple of weeks. Bring that journal into to your doctor and nutritionist. With proper restriction I can't see why you aren't losing more. I wish you a successful journey! -
Post-Honeymoon but pre-first-fill phase
NJGirl32 replied to BandedKitten's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first fill is 5 weeks away. The first week post-op I had trouble getting anything down, but as I am approaching week 2 I can get thingss down a lot quicker and more of it! I am a little worried whatthe next 5 weeks will bring! I hear that it actually might take a few fils to get that just-right feeling. I guess these are the things to ask yourself: Am I getting all my Water in? I am planning my meals/snacks? Am I eating Protein first and avoid drinking prior to and after eating so food stays in the pouch longer? Have I started some form of exercise? Am I taking my Vitamins? Am I getting enough protein in? Am I liniting my caffine intake? We CAN do this!!! -
This was me before. 3
NJGirl32 replied to 54Shirley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Girl you have done Fantastic!!!!!!!!! Wow! Congratulations on losing all that weight! I can feel your frustration with your doctor. You'll get there!! You said you lost 152 pounds- when did you lose the rest? I see you have lost 27 pounds in 5 months (after surgery). The only other thing I could suggest it to find another doctor to do your fills? I would think the doctor would be okay with losing more than 1 pound per week? -
Tried Starting My Letter
NJGirl32 replied to NewStart95987's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMG! I know EXACTLY what you mean! I never told my daughters I was having the surgery so I really wanted to let them know something and thought about writing them letters too. All I wished for was to wake up from the surgery and when I was in recovery I said to myself "I'm alive!, Thank you God!" I think it's a natural fear. I think the change of anything going wrong with Lapband suregery is less than 1%-there great odds! People everyday get much , much, much more complicated surgies and do great , so you shouldn't worry! If a letter is too hard what about a voice recording or if you can tape yourself with a web cam? I opted not to write the letter and to just keep positive. -
Pain under rib cage?
NJGirl32 replied to goosemommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would say that sounds normal-I feel the same way (except I do not get shortness of breath). Remember they were in your tummy with all kinds of instruments so it's expected to be sore. I would be concerned about the shortness of breath. Do you have that breathing machine that you blow into? Try using that on a regular basis and see if it helps. Hope you feel better soon! -
Day 4 after surgery HELP
NJGirl32 replied to goosemommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't worry about a BM yet-I didn't get one until 4 days post surgery. Ice is good for your sore tummy! Drink, drink, drink!! Water should be with you at ALL times. If you are not a big water drinker try putting some Crystal LIght into it. The shakes you are drinking might not agree with you and give you gas. Can you tolerate milk? If not then maybe you need to switch it up. Hope you feel better!!!
