Do I Tell My Current Surgeon?
sickofrollercoaster replied to Ready4change's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I am not sure about the insurance portion, I was self pay and went to Aceves, you are correct in being drawn to him, he is excellent! Best of luck to you and in your decision! -
When did you stall?
sickofrollercoaster replied to SParkle's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I seemed to stall out a little when I went from full liquids to mushies. But I am steadily losing. I am a daily scale jumper too, hey it keeps me motivated to log my food everyday! About every 4 or 5 days the scale is either the same or will jump up a little and i simply do not record weight on those days cause it always goes down the next day. I am following a very low carb plan although I allow myself some flexibility on Saturday due to the weekend and trying to take a break but I am back on my strict plan Sunday through Friday. I also noticed during my period I do gain so again, I don't record weight at that time. I am averaging a 2.5 to 3 pound loss each week. I consider that safe and great! My immediate goal is to be below 150 in time for my trip to Disney that is in 14 days. I have 4 pounds to go! My next challenge will be to stay on my plan during that week of vacation with my family. Although walking around Disney and the Water park should help with weight loss! I also notice, if I am religious about getting my fluids in, my weight loss is consistent and good. -
Uncharted waters-letting go and moving on
sickofrollercoaster replied to citygal's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Amen! I second Maddie's thank you, this is a great reminder of perspective. I certainly did not gain this weight JUST because I love food! I gained it due to the stress I have in my marriage. I am separated now and have been since February. I am working to heal myself first before worrying about the marriage. My main priorities are me and my children. But I know because of this surgery, I will be strong enough physically and mentally to tackle the issues in my marriage once I choose to go there. Yes, this sleeve is just a tool but it is the one I needed! No, it did not cure all that troubles me but it is greatly helping me dig myself out of one of the deepest, depressing parts of my life and that is the unhealthy weight and lifestyle I have been living. Happy Sunday everyone, God Bless... -
popcorn....how long did you wait to eat it?
sickofrollercoaster replied to mommytoethan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
With the way most foods feel just trying to eat right now, I imagine it will take me a long time to try popcorn. I have never been a big fan of buttery popcorn, I like the caramel type! So since I am doing very low carb and it is working for me so I will wait until probably maintenance period to consider popcorn. -

I give up!!!!
sickofrollercoaster replied to newfor2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hate tracking too but it brings a calm to me now since being sleeved that i have never felt before, really! I feel lost when I can't log my meal plan in the morning. I am very schedule oriented and now having targets for all of my nutrition each day is just like me and checklists, something else I can say "Yep, I accomplished that today!" Sounds silly but I actually feel more accomplished when I have worked hard at my job, kept my kids fed and cared for AND logged my food each day. Great job! I too am keeping my carbs under 30 g per day! And today I got off my buttocks and walked 2 miles, I finally had the energy AND the want to do so! -

First Procedure
sickofrollercoaster replied to Elisabethsew's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I am wondering about my inner thighs. I think the skin is so stretched and with the stretch marks, it will never go back. I get rashes from rubbing, wonder if my PCP documents that, if insurance would cover to have that skin removed/lifted? I have federal employee blue cross/blue shield. Anyone know if that could possibly be covered? -
How soon were you able to exercise?
sickofrollercoaster replied to Syry180's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 6 weeks post op and so far the only activity I get is chasing my kids. I still do not have the energy level back but I think I am going to bite the bullet and start something, even if it is just walking the neighborhood while kids ride bikes. It is in the mid 90s here so that would be the only reason we do not make it a very long time outside! PS Stacey, congrats on the weight loss! PPS Melisa! Only 29 more to go!!! Great job! -
Monday Morning Weigh In
sickofrollercoaster replied to Chancie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
OK, it is Wednesday and I am back to my low weight from last week so bring on the weight loss for this week, finally! Water weight is a real pain once a month! And I am started to feel more restriction so I am scared that I will not get all my protein in each day, hope that does not slow me down! Until next Monday... Have a great week everyone! -
I am tracking everything, carbs, fat, Protein, calories and Water. My weight loss has slowed way down but is consistently .2 to .4 pounds per day (except for this week during monthly visitor I put on water weight). I do not go over 30 g of carbs or fat each day and stay around 600 calories. I get at least 65-70 g of protein a day. My next challenge will be to add in some physical activity although I am still very tired and worn out, especially at the end of the day. I might start exercising in the morning, seems to be the best time for me, I have the most energy then. I am 6 weeks post op. In 3 weeks I go to Disney World, hoping to be under 150 which would be about another 7 pounds, pray for me!!! PS The reason I track carbs is because I have always been a carb eater and that is what makes me fat, I just know my body, so following the golden rule of protein and water first, that has really helped me take focus OFF any carbs at all. Somedays I am under 20 g of carbs and I remember when I first started this journey, I could not for the life of me think how I would ever get under 30 g of carbs but I know now, with planning and research it is very possible!

sickofrollercoaster replied to Chancie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Starting Weight: 180.6 Current Weight: 158.4 (but was down to 156.8 earlier in week before monthly visitor!!!) Goal #1: 160.6 (met on Sunday, 6 June 2010) Goal #2: 150 Goal #3: 140 Goal #4: 130 Goal #5: 120 Goal Weight: 110 (I am 5' tall) Total Lost: 22.3 Hope to show double loss next week since water weight is affecting my numbers today! -
We had recital rehearsal all week, Monday thru Wednesday was regular rehearsals, Thursday night was dress rehearsal until about 11:30, Friday night was our first performance followed by two more on Saturday so I have been living at the auditorium all week. I made sure I had beef Jerky around and tried to make the best choices I could thru the weekend. I did try to eat a few pringles and those seem to be too dense, I might have gotten two down. I am sure I have gained a little cause my Fluid intake was down the past three days, I worked in the dressing room and backstage and just never slowed down. Having a down day today trying to get back in my routine of eating and drinking. I can honestly say that I truly missed my schedule of eating, I did not like not feeling prepared. I also did not like the limited choices I had when I just had to pack something in a bag, most stuff I eat now is prepared so fast food was not an option. All in all, it was a great recital, I cried watching my girls dance... We are taking a year off of dance and just doing one tumbling class a week starting in September. Three weeks until we go to Disney! Next adventure to get ready for!

I know the 10 days seems like a lifetime but just keep pushing thru and it will be over soon! Time really starts flying post op! Hang in there!

What does your doctor say? You need to go by the guidelines given by your doctor. For me, at 31 days out I was released to eat anything so I am allowed to try breads. The only problem with that being a month out is that if you are following the Protein first rule, there is no room for bread, at least for me at almost 6 weeks out, that is the case. I have had some special K crackers with laughing cow cheese. I tried a few pringles the other day and I was only able to eat two and I was full. I pretty much try to avoid breads and most carbs right now. Here recently, I noticed that I feel more restriction than a few weeks ago so it is getting harder for me to get all of my protein in thru the day. If I aded something so heavy like bread, it would be impossible.

discomfort in chest while drinking....
sickofrollercoaster replied to mommytoethan's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't know of many sleevers here that are not taking a PPI of some kind for reflux. I take Zantac twice a day and I know it when I forget to take it. Also, it took me quite a while to work up to getting all my fluids and Protein in, you have to just keep working at it slowly. Best of luck! -
Average monthly weight loss?
sickofrollercoaster replied to ninaboo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The stretch marks are my issue, if not for those my skin would be rebounding. If I feel I can't live with the skin on my inner thighs and arms after losing all of my weight then I will just save up for one more procedure. Wow Ninaboo, I have had three children, twins and a single and i had stretch marks from my boobs to my knees! Awesome for you!!! Some of us are not so lucky! -
Hey Anna, have not seen you on chat in a while! See by your ticker you are doing great! We need to catch up!

Nature's Best Isopure Protein Drinks
sickofrollercoaster replied to sickofrollercoaster's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
60 grams is the minimum recommended daily intake of protein. If you are newly sleeved, you will not get this much in but this is something to work towards. I am 5 weeks post op and have no problem getting in 60 grams and most days I exceed that. It is about managing your meals daily and eating your protein first at every meal and then if you have room, you can eat other things. You can get at least half of the 60 grams in one protein drink and then choose your proteins wisely to get the most protein in the least amount of food (ie tuna, talipia, turkey, some cheeses, etc...). -

Went great! I am down 22.3 pounds in 5 weeks and doing really good. Finally got the hang of my new way of eating. I am still a little weak but I think in another couple of weeks I will regain some strength. I certainly feel much better, moved down a pant size already! You can PM me if you want to chat more. Where are you going for your surgery?
