Yahoo...the sleeve is awesome!
sickofrollercoaster replied to longhorn's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Although I DO NOT LIKE your screen name (heehee, I am a Texas Aggie!), I will tell you that you have done a great job and congrats on your success! And it is obviously not just the sleeve, you are working out and that takes a huge commitment and lifestyle change for some of us! Enjoy your success for years to come! -
I cried tonight ...
sickofrollercoaster replied to MINI-Me's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congrats Mini Me! I understand the crying thing, tends to hit you when you least expect it but tears of joy!!! -
Stacey, I agree with TexasT. I have 40 more to lose, I know the shape I was in high school at 110 pounds but who knows what my shape will be once I reach goal this time around. I have had three kids and this body has been through alot. I do hope that my bottom half gets much smaller to match my top half though!!!

What was I thinking ??!!
sickofrollercoaster replied to Lookinupin2010's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Great post! I am still dealing with the aftermath of fixing myself physically and working on the mental part to catch up! I have found that sugary stuff actually makes me physically ill now! I say that is a blessing cause I have always had a sweet tooth! Keep up the great work, I have learned to take this journey one day at a time! I think we all experience that buyer's remorse but it passes when we realize this is a blessing, not a curse! -

8 wks post opt. update (2 weeks late)
sickofrollercoaster replied to agives130's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My surgeon said my calorie intake should be 600-800, in that range and the focus is on the amount of Protein that I take in each day. I think we will all get different advice from our doctors but just want to make sure that we don't make any general assumptions cause we all are different. At this point, 800 calories would make me pop! Or if I could get 800 calories in, it would be from foods that are high in calories and probably high in fat and carbs. -
Well, I set a goal to be at 150 by this Sunday when I left for vacation and I am at 150.1, I would say close enough! To date I have lost 30.5 pounds and this coming Monday will be 9 weeks post op. I continue to follow low carb, low fat, high Protein and it is working for me. Weight loss is slow and steady and I am fine with that. My Mom, who has not seen me since we said goodbye in the DFW airport when she went home and I still had to fly back to Dulles after surgery, has been asking me to send her pictures of my progress but I told her she will have to wait until I see her in Orlando on Monday! My babysitter came over last night to watch the kids so I could go to dinner with a friend and she screamed when she saw me! Said I looked so much smaller! That was so awesome to hear!!! Like I told a girlfriend at dinner last night, if anyone ever accuses me or anyone who has had WLS that we took the easy way out I think I would come unglued on them. This is not EASY! I watch what I eat everyday. Do I regret having to follow this healthy lifestyle, ABSOLUTELY NOT! This is what I needed to get control of my eating and my life. It is a blessing in disguise because I was feeding my face and drinking alcohol to deal with emotions. Now, I can't do that. I have moments where I want to grab food or a beer and I know I cannot. This has given me the push I needed to start dealing with some very deep routed issues in my life and I am so grateful! It will be a long process but well worth it all! TGIF!

8 wks post opt. update (2 weeks late)
sickofrollercoaster replied to agives130's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
On the 800 calorie per day comment, I do not think that applies across the board, I am 5' tall and don't need as much as someone who is 5'5" or 6'. I average about 650 calories a day and I get plenty of protein (at least 70 g a day). So I am not starving my muscles in the least. -
DOWN 30.5 pounds!!!
sickofrollercoaster replied to sickofrollercoaster's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I had a sirloin steak from Texas Steakhouse. It was a 7 ounce steak, I ate about half that evening and ate the other half the next day for lunch. The meal came with a baked potato with butter and sour cream. I was able to take about 2 bites of the potato. So different from what I would have had before surgery. I would have had a big salad and would have eaten the dinner rolls before the salad and the salad would be loaded with dressing. I weighed this morning and was 147.7, I am going to weigh again tomorrow morning before believing it, I just can't believe my own eyes anymore. It is from all the times I did work so hard to lose weight and I didn't seem to have any luck, but this negative attitude is slowly changing since my Sleeve has really made my dreams come true. I work hard and I get results, that is all I ever wanted. -

need a chin up....
sickofrollercoaster replied to heygale's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Just my 2 cents also, looks like your calorie intake may be ok but what are you consuming in carbs and fat? Also, do you drink enough fluids throughout the day (64 ounces minimum)? I am only 8 weeks post-op so can only go from limited experience but i know my loss has slowed to about 2 pounds a week and I am sure it will get slower as I get closer. -

To weigh or not to weigh....that is the question!
sickofrollercoaster replied to SarahD.'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I weigh every morning. I too used to say it was wrong however it is the right thing for me. Even if I am not seeing a loss it reminds me every morning that I have made a great choice and that my efforts will continue to be rewarded! I think that everyone has their own way to motivate themself, whatever works! -

How many calories should I be taking in???
sickofrollercoaster replied to nikkib's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dr. Aceves gave a very detailed guideline on how many calories, carbs, fat, Protein we should be taking in each day. Calorie guideline was 600-800 per day. Most days I am in the 550 range. His guideline on carbs and fat was no more than 60 g a day and on protein a minimum of 60 g per day. I limit my fat and carbs to 30 g a day. I hope this helps! -
It's Friday and I am Overweight!!!
sickofrollercoaster replied to sickofrollercoaster's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
It truly is! The only thing I dread these days is the weekends cause things are just not as consistent and planned as my work weeks are so I tend to gain back a little after the weekends and funny thing is that it is not like I am pigging out! I will have a few chips or a few bites of ice cream. I do hope that my ability to have a little tiny bit of the bad stuff does get better, I don't mind only having a few bites of something that I love but I got sleeved so that I could control portion size which I am doing and then some but still seeing it affect my weight. I still have not tried any breads at all, only the Special K crackers and then I am only eating 5 or 6 of those tiny little things. I have 7.9 pounds until I have lost 50% of my weight, that will feel great too! -
Folks - I am really scared of VACATION!!!
sickofrollercoaster posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Ok, so during the week I am like a machine, I follow my food plan to a T. I am not tempted at all. On the weekends though, I allow myself to have a few small bite tortilla chips (a few is all I can do), or a few m&ms, or a few bites of the kid's ice cream, by NO MEANS do I pig out! Of course, these are all Carbs and as I have said before Carbs are what make me fat. During the week I follow 30g or less of carbs and fat and 60+ of Protein. I go on vacation July 11th and I am petrified that I will not be able to stick to my plan. I do not WANT to go off my plan, I have no desire to have a vacation from my eating plan. I will be staying at a vacation home and my Mom (who is also an 18 year bariatric surgery veteran) will be cooking for the family for every meal. The difference with my Mom is that she can eat whatever she wants, just very little and does not gain weight. I need some major good vibes that week! I have a goal to weigh 150 or less by the time i leave, that is 4 more pounds! I want to continue losing while on vacation, I do NOT want to see a gain AT ALL. I have to write this down, my goal is to follow the plan and I want everyone to ask me how I am doing while I am on vacation. I weigh daily so this will also be a test for me as I will not have a scale. It is a blessing that I will have all meals prepared at home, just need to come armed with my Protein shakes and all my good protein and stay on top of my game even while on vacation. Oh, also, I would not mind having a few cocktails while relaxing at the pool IF I can find some that do not screw up my weight loss, I understand there are some low calorie, zero carb options. Anyone have any ideas? Alcohol is not a must, only a luxury if I can do a 100 calorie drink that does not impact me... Thanks everyone! Sorry, anxiety is kicking in. Right now I hate getting out of my routine cause I know my routine WORKS for me.:001_unsure: -

Folks - I am really scared of VACATION!!!
sickofrollercoaster replied to sickofrollercoaster's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks! Didn't mean to scare anyone! I should mention I am a "lightweight" so my weightloss is slower than some but I am working to avoid the huge stalls. I do consume carbs, it is just in very small quantity and only through other foods I get like the carbs in a Protein I am eating. I rarely have fruit right now and I occassionally have a few Special K crackers. I just know my body, I get fat on carbs. I know I cannot lose weight eating large amounts of carbs or fat. I am also being strict because I do want to set good habits for myself and so far, this is really working! I am 7 weeks post op today and I can tell you that I do not crave any of the stuff I used to. I still fight head hunger and dont want to fall off the wagon so for now, it may sound severe to some. Everyone will have their own way of doing things and we will all have something different that works! -
I bought the tone-up flip flops (I like to free my toes from any kind of shoe during the summer) and I love them, I can really feel my calves and butt working overtime when I wear them. I bought them in black.

"C" you later
sickofrollercoaster replied to citygal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I always had a big chest, even at 110 in my teen years. I had a reduction in 2002 after my twins were born. Now when I lose weight, I have nothing left so I am slowly watching them deflate! I am back to a comfortable C but I know by the time the next 40 pounds fall off I will be in a B cup and that is something I have not seen since my early teens during the training bra era which did not last too long! Can I take part of my backside and move it on up to the top, just for some firmness? Lord knows I am not lacking in that area!!! -
Dieting - its my battle!
sickofrollercoaster replied to SParkle's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think someone said it so well above... Take the face comment as a compliment, especially while in the meantime you are working on getting trim and healthy. See, you are becoming a triple threat! Pretty face, fit body and great attitude! I tell some people but someone like that, I will take joy in letting them wonder how it is I was able to slowly lose the weight and maintain. -
