I'm so glad this helped you! It's not easy going through this alone but know that the outcome is so worth it! I do hope your husband is able to be there for you. I hope your surgery goes well and the recovery is quick for you! You won't believe how great you are going to feel in a rather short period!!!

I felt exactly the same way that you are feeling now. I didn't tell anyone but my husband that I was having the surgery and had to drive 6 hrs. away to have my surgery...ALONE!!! My husband wasn't able to go with me for the initial surgery so I spent the day and night before the surgery in my hotel room crying and having panic attacks. I was terrified thast something was going to go wrong and also that something would go wrong and I would have to tell my crazy parents(whom I love with all my heart). Well nothing went wrong what so ever and I am 1 year and one month out and have lost 80 glorious pounds and would do it again in a heartbeat to have this outcome! I still want to lose another 50 lbs but if I don't lose another pound I will be satisifed!!! My whole life has changed, not to mention my attitude. Please look past the surgery and the recovery right after the surgery and try to focus on you and who you will be after the healing is over. Good luck and God bless!

Breast Reduction and Lift Before Sleeve
cherrybell replied to EnjoyingWhoIAmBecoming's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a reduction 2 years ago. I didn't even know about the sleeve at that time. I would have waited had I known what was in my near future. I was a 42 LL before the reduction and was a 40 C before the sleeve. I am now in a 38 and somewhere between a B and a C cup and the ladies are shrinking before my eyes. I never thought I would miss my larger breasts (I don't miss my gargantuan breasts) but sometimes I look at myself and wonder what did I do. Don't get me wrong, I love that they reach high instead of slopping to the floor now but a lot of my femininity was from those girls and it's hard to know how to feel with them getting so much smaller. I, unfortunately, lost all feeling in my nipples so that is my biggest regret. I do, however, love being able to buy "regular" size bras and my tops are never too tight in the bust. I would wait if you haven't had the reduction and if you have had it then buy some great push up, padded bras. -
I have just returned from a 15 night cruise to Hawaii and I did NOT gain a pound! I did not eat like I should but thanks to having lost 65 pounds, one of those pounds was during the cruise, I was able to take the stairs and run around the ports like crazy. My weight loss has not been at warp speed like so many others but it has been at a slow steady pace that I am so thankful for! I am one of those people that chose not to tell anyone what I had done, other than hubby, and with my slower weight loss I have not had to explain myself. I eat normal food, I'm not following a low anything diet. I eat what I want but thankfully most of what I crave has been healthier choices. I had dessert every night but just ate about a third and half on a few nights. I was terribly afraid that I was gonna' come home heavier and was so pleased and thankful that I was spared the guilt pounds. I am posting this for those who are newly sleeved to see that life goes on and can in fact be better than ever!!!

throwing up after i take my vitamin!
cherrybell replied to PJ713's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was fine the first 5 days taking the multi they gave me at the hospital, but days 6 and 7 I threw them right up. I bought a new brand of the chewables and no problems after that. I spoke with many people that had the same experience with the brand from the hospital but did just fine with the store bought brand. -
After eating too fast
cherrybell replied to FishingNurse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't get the sneezing or runny nose, mine is hiccups. I have read others on here that do the sneezing bit though. -

I am 3 months out and had pizza today for lunch. I can eat a small slice of thin crust but it fills me up too much and I find that I am hungry again within the next hour to hour and a half. I do have pizza once a month and just try to have some nuts on hand for the hungries after. So enjoy!

What is satisfied?
cherrybell replied to bleelawry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had this exact same question when I was early out. I never felt satisfied on liquids or mushies but now I feel full but not quiet satisfied on real foods. I think my head is still in full on eat mode sometimes but my stomach/chest feels tight and as if it were expanded. I don't ever throw up but I do wish I could turn my head off while I'm eating so that I wouldn't stuff myself. Lately I have been eating slower and this has made a huge difference. I notice myself take a big breath or sigh and I know I am full...this works great as long as I'm not eating Mexican because I just ignore that sign all together . You'll get it figured out before too long. -
I had my "drive" back and then some within 7 days of surgery. I didn't partake but on day 15 the games began and haven't stopped except during my period. Part of the excitement for me was that I just felt so much better with just 15 pounds off me. I am almost 3 months out and my sex life just like it was when I weighed just 125 . GOOD!!!

Need some good come back tips for the neg. people
cherrybell replied to Was a humpty dumpty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Who says you HAVE to tell anyone? It's no ones business but yours! I wouldn't have even told my husband if he didn't have to see the bill. I am 2 months out and I just explain to those who ask that I spoke with a Dr that recommended a certain way of eating and I chose to follow his advice and have been fortunate enough to lose a few pounds and feel so much better. My Mother has asked a lot of questions but not because she suspects I've had surgery but because she would like to lose 20 pounds herself. My mother-in-law is suspicious but she knows that if I wanted her to know then I would tell her. Tell who you want but not because you feel guilty by not telling them. Good luck to you! -
Sex After Surgery?
cherrybell replied to thinkingboutVSG's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to wait 2 weeks, and I did ...to the minute! I can't say that my sex drive is up but I now love morning sex and absolutely hated it before! I too feel much more confidant and I still have 94lbs to go! It's amazing how good you feel when you make positive changes in yourself! -
Whats the worst
cherrybell replied to Dadams2102008's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too had a great recovery. I did have slight gas pain in my left shoulder the second day in the hospital but I just walked as much as I could stand. The part that was most unpleasant for me was the slight fever and overall ache of my whole body from the fever, that only lasted about 2 hours. When I started drinking they gave me some Isopure and that was truley the worst part of the post op for me, not because of the actual ingesting but the taste was gawd awful!!! I was where you are in terms of nerves and I too began this journey by researching the band but when I started my research I discovered the sleeve and I am so glad I did. I went through this whole process. surgery and all, by myself didn't tell a soul, other than my husband. My husband was unable to come with me to Dallas (we're 6 hours away) for the surgery and I bawled all the way there as well as all night in the hotel the night before, I was terrified something would happen to me and that would devastate my older parents and then something would happen to them. To this day no one else knows, my MIL thinks that I had gastric bypass and keeps trying to get my husband to tell her...none of her darn business. If you do decide to take this journey I bet you will be thrilled with the outcome. Good luck to you! -
It's Medicinal Chocolate....Honest
cherrybell replied to apple-saucy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too did not have an early period and I am now a week late and unreal emotional! I have craved food like a mad woman, luckily I am satisfied quickly but am hungry two hours later. You are doing great on your weight loss. I have watched your posts for a while because you had your surgery just a few days before me. I saw one time that you posted your sparkspeople daily menu, could you do that again that was interesting. Good luck to you!! -

Multivitamin equals vomitting
cherrybell replied to StacyS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too vomited immediately after taking the Bariatric Advantage that the hospital gave me, so I threw those in the trash and stated takin Centrum chewable and have had zero problems since (about 2 weeks). I have not been sick on anything else. -
I was on clears for 3 days then full liquids up to day 14, I was actually supposed to do that up to 21 days but I just couldn't so I started the blended portion 1 week early and will remain on that up to day 24 and then on to soft / mushie foods. I have tolerated everything , other than the chewable vit. that the hospital sent home with me, so I have felt confident with what I'm eating. I don't recommend following my example because I didn't follow my Dr.s guidelines like I should have, I've just been very fortunate that I have had no problems and am losing weight.

How much weight did you lose on the clear liquid pre-op diet?
cherrybell replied to sleevesmagoohowdoyoudo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on the pre-op diet for 14 days and lost 12 pounds total, I have lost 12 more since my 04/26/11 surgery. -
Don't heat the Unjury above their recommendation because it will curdle and the texture is gawd awful! I find the premixed stuff too sweet as well but I don't mind the Nectar powders and you can add as much or as little water as suits your taste, same with the protein shots. Good luck!

I am just 5 days out and wondering if anyone else didn't have problems drinking after surgery. I know I shouldn't complain but I can drink my fluids, eat my proteins and have a 1/2 C of broth and still want something else. I'm not over doing it other than taking bigger sips than I think I should be able to. This should be a Godsend, right? I am just terrified that this didn't take...I know that's physically impossible but I am a bit concerned. I know I'm having the normal mental cravings but I was expecting nausea and vomiting ( thankful not to have these) I had nausea from the Demerol they gave me in the hospital but none since. Seriously, I know that it is crazy to be this concerned, because I'm doing well, but so many on here seem to have had quiet a few issues. Just wondering if anyone else had this experience and what their long term outcome has been. Thanks all.

WTH is protein water????
cherrybell replied to ranchersdaughter's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Isopure is what I would consider protein water, FYI, the grape is awful. -
Thank you all. I guess your right that most don't post when there are no problems to speak of. I think this is my old fear of failing at another diet, I guess I need a new attitude huh! Good luck to us all!!

I so hope your surgery went well and you are up and about in no time!! Let us know how you are doing as soon as you feel up to it. cherrybell

Day 2 of pre-op liquid diet! Not a happy camper!!
cherrybell replied to happy2behere's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on day 4 and it is definitely easier today, still have some cravings but nothing that a bit of chicken broth hasn't cured .My gawd awful headache went completely away on the third day. I'm not looking forward to the next 10 days but I know I can do this, you can too!! I know all the rah rah in the world won't help you but we are, or were, all fat here and in the same boat your in now. Reading the success stories helped but what keeps me chuggin' along are the before and after pictures on obesityhelp.com. Keep going and remember what your gonna' look like thin!!!!
