Guess who I found lurking in the mirror!!
sunnyd replied to cludgie's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Yay you! I loved that you took a picture! Sometimes I think it is better if we don't worry about the scale and focus on how we feel. Yes I know- much easier said than done! -
So I decided to go through all my bins of clothes from previous sizes that I had stacked in the back of my closet. When I put them away they were are thrown in together. So I went through and organized them by sizes- thinking that will be helpful as I go down in sizes. While I was sorting so many clothes brought back memories. They made me think of specific events and people I was with. Amazing how clothes could do this. It was almost like looking at old photographs. It was kind of fun! Also as I was looking at the clothes I realized how tiny many of them were and yet at the time I wore them I still felt HUGE. I'm hoping that this time I will appreciate getting down to those sizes and have a better frame of mind than I did in the past. I know that will be easier said than done. Anyone been through this? Have you lost your weight and felt better than you did at that size before? I think it will definitely be a mental game and I hope I will be able to win! That is a long time away for me but the clothes got me thinking about the future. It will definitely be fun to go clothes shopping in my own closet (not to mention saving a bunch of $$$) and I can't wait to wear the clothes again! Some of them are just so darn cute- now I have a goal! I'm thinking of grabbing a couple pieces of clothing and hanging them up in front of my elliptical machine for motivation while I'm exercising!

If there's one thing you think pre-surgery members should know...
sunnyd replied to NewPath4Me's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I agree with Stacy- that would be the most important! I also think immediatley post-op take the SIP-WALK-REST approach seriously. Walking really helps you feel better! Good luck with your surgery! -
Woo Hoo! That's fabulous! I understand about the pics- I'm in the same dilemma. I was thinking of posting but just from the neck down- but will wait awhile for that. Congrats on your success!

Girl- you can totally see a difference!!! I think we are always the last ones to see it on ourselves! If it wasn't for the clothes getting loose I wouldn't believe I was changing either. You're looking great!

I DIVORCED MY SCALE AND MARRIED MY TAPE MEASURE!!!
sunnyd replied to savedbythesleeve's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Love that you DIVORCED your scale! SO funny! Good idea though. It is just a number but man oh man can it bring you down and make you feel defeated! I try to only weigh myself once a week but sometimes thats easier said than done! Inches really do count more and change even when the scale doesn't. Happy measuring to you! -
YAY YOU! That must've felt great! Love those little NSV's!!! Smiles to you!!!

Last time I lost over a hundred pounds I had A LOT of loose skin. I worked really hard to tone up and get rid of it but nope it stayed around. The skin was stretched and basically my only option was surgery. I kept telling myself just work harder but the sagging skin didn't change. Unfortunately I gained the weight back but am hopeful to keep it of now with the sleeve. I know that once at goal I will have loose skin again from the losing/gaining cycles I've put my body through. However this time I will say hello to the knife and good-bye to the flab! By that time I will have went through a lot to get to goal and will not let loose skin keep me down or self-conscious!

WTH did I do to myself
sunnyd replied to USMCwifeandTEACHER's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i was like you pre and post surgery. All i wanted was chicken parmesan. It was weird since I hadn't had that for a few years- nothing i usually craved before. But my cravings were bad and I too thought what the hell did I do to myself??? I can tell you it does get better. I hardly ever have cravings and I never did have chicken parmesan- that craving too went away! Good luck to you! Hang in there it gets better!
