    In Mourning

I am just starting the process and I have already had this thought cross my mind numerous times. I realize this will definitely change my outlook on food and eating. Good Luck to you! One day at a time.
  5. Tomorrow is my consult... It feels as though it is in my grasps but am waiting for the next shoe to fall...

  6. Thank you Adriana and Manu for the encouraging words. Good luck to you too as well with your continuing success. :)

  7. You will do fine. I was very scared as well but I'm one month post op and doing great.

  8. Bienvenida, don't be nervous, we are here for support.

    Getting nervous...

I am going for my consult on Friday, am so excited and nervous and the same time. I keep envisioning my new self and can't wait to see her. I have been heavy most of my life. I am tall and have been able to "hide" my true weight pretty well, but there is no doubt that I am heavier than I should be. I have always felt like the ugly duckling with my friends, being the tallest and biggest, I always stood out. Yes, this has made me self conscious and a lil' shy. I have struggled with being the center of attention and speaking in public. I worry about what people say and think of me. So I try to lay low (as much as I can) and be a wall flower. So, with this new journey approaching soon, I can't wait. I am nervous about the surgery and the whole liquid diet ( does this actually keep you feeling full?) Does the band actually make you feel full with less food and continue to make you feel full longer? These are the things I worry about... Thank you to all who have read this and good luck to everyone.

    This is HARD!!!!

Hi everyone! I am new to the forum but have read a lot of your stories and am so inspired by all of you. This website is a God sent for all of us going through the Lap Band journey. It is so important to have support that understands and can relate to each others triumphs and struggles. I look forward to reading more and getting more insight into my new life. I go for my consult this Friday, I am excited and nervous at the same time. I can relate to so many of you on your own personal journeys to this point. I wish you all lots of luck and much congrats to those that have lost and are doing awesome. I am also wondering how long it usually takes from first consult (with pre-authorization) to surgery date? I know there are a lot of pre-procedures to go through, but wonder what the average length of time is. I would love to hear from any of you regarding this. Thanks again!
  11. Anxious about going for my consult. Anxious about starting my new life. :)

Lap Band fueled by disabling injury?

Hi Everyone! I have reading through a lot of great posts with some great information from all of you, but I didn't see any relating directly to weight loss for injury relief. I was advised to have the Lap Band done do to severe back problems. I have tried many, many diets and have lost but then gained back and in some cases, more than I lost. Because of my injury I am limited to exercise and battle creeping weight that has been added since the injury. I was curious how many others are having or have had the same experience that I have had. How many of you have chosen Lap Band as a weight loss alternative to help alleviate pain and or help with it? How many have already had it done and have already started seeing good results on your problem areas? I would love for any of you to write in and share your experiences (good or bad) with me on this topic. Thanks for you support.
