  1. OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG, HOW BEAUTIFULLLLLL U LOOK WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! IM SORRY I HAVE TO SAY, AND I DONT MEAN ANYTHING BAD BY IT, BUT U LOOK SOOOOOO MUCH YOUNGER NOW. Im sorry I was using caps also, I was so excited, but I hope u dont mind me commenting, but honestly you've come a long way, and u look like a totally different person. Keep up the good work girl !!!!!!!!!!, and just think.....ur only 5 monthsssss post op. wowwwwwwwwwwwwww !!!
  2. I know I am driving myself crazy, let alone others!!!!!!!! lol By the time Im done with my surgery, i'll have no friends in this forum at all lol O m gosh!!! but it makes a lot of sense what ur saying, and more and more whats sinking in is.....after the surgery, I can actually get a sense of not having time to do or worry about anything else, other than getting in enough protein and liquid. I guess we all go through basically the same thing, on average. It's a terrible disease, and I guess this wls is the only way out for people like me. I know I will mourn food. That is what drives me crazy the most! See, I want this surgery, but at the same time, I need another major surgery....consisting of the repairing of 3 hernias, hiatal, and intestines, so I will be wide open anyway, and this is y the surgeons r practically insisting I get the wls at the same time. Anyway, thanks again for all the awsome info. I have no supporters of me in my family, so Im in on it alone!, but I put my mind to it, and just tell myself it has to be done once and for all. Im sure like others, I have lost 125-50 lbs 3 times in my life, and gave birth at 475 LBS, but Im up and down like a roller coaster, so , theres no other way. Omg, I can go on and on lolll Thanks again.....take care, and congrats to u big time !!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Thanks for the advice. The last 2 days for me hasn't been so bad. I actually bought myself a big container of the Isopure chocolate high Protein shake, and I have been sticking to that. I have been eating one plain yogurt and a already made sugar free Jello cup in between. The only thing Im not sure about, is how much of the Protein Shake I should have. I have been having one, but Im thinking of two. What would u suggest? Thanks again, and good luck on ur surgery in 5 days
  4. Lollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll, yes, we will soon be twins!!! and sooooo right u r bout the 2 week pre-op!!! only problem with me is......medicare dont require any pre-op, now do they require any more testing!!!!, but my primary DR is sending me for most Im glad ur not binging. I have always been a tremendous eater, but now knowing im going under June 13th....I been feasting everrrrry darn day !!! I have been eating worse than I have ever, and I just can't seem to control myself. I have every co-mobility on the list, so thats whats been buggin me really. I knowwwwww, by binging, it's not gonna make the surgery any better, only worse. I have got to get it together. I still have a few more days b4 I get on track, then i'll have no choice afterwards. Anyway, thx for responding. Good luck to u, and plz keep in touch!!! twin lol forget about ursieursie!
  5. Wowwwwwwww, congrats to u Thanks for responding. You're so right about the lifetime of gluttony, and in the end it doestn't matter. I like that!!! There is no pre-op diet for me, so thats scary, and... I have every co-mobility on the list, all jokes aside, which is scaring the hekkkkkkkkk out of me!!!! I mean, it's one thing if u have diabetes, and high blood pressure, and a few more, but when I went to the last seminar, the surgeon speaking was showing us all the co-mobilities, i literally have them all, plus....3 other hernias and a hiatal one now, that I wasn't even aware of! I have lupus. Iv'e had a total of 16 abdominal surgeries in the last 10-15 yrs, and have always had complications afterwards, so im dying over this~ They cant go in and repair the hernias/intestines unless I agreed to a wls this time around, which definitely makes sense... buttt I wasn't a candidate yrs ago, what makes me one now??? lol Anyway, again, congrats and keep up the good work Thx for listening
  6. Well, im glad ur back on track. I know it's very scary all the way around. Im sorry to hear u were denied at first. Actually, all I have is medicare myself, so I have to pay the extra 20 %, but the good thing with medicare is....they dont require any pre-op testing, nor do they require a pre-op diet! I am really scared that there is no pre-op, so every day I keep saying..today, today, today lol, and I get nowhere fast. Im eating to beat the band!!!!!!!! I have to get my head right too!!! Im scheduled for June 13th, it will be here sooner than I think! I went to a festival the other day, and saw live zumba exercise, and it looked so good, so I thought id maybe try that afterwards. Anyway, thanks for responding, and Good luck to u. Keep in touch. Thanks

    Milage does vary

Hi What r clear Proteins, if u dont mind me asking??? Is the Isopure chocolate, vanilla, strawberry ok for that? Im not aware there is a difference. I havn't been sleeved yet, obviously . My date is June 13th, but Im trying to prepare and learn as much as I can now. Thanks

    My Life Still Sucks

Erin, First, id like to say how sorry I am that u r feeling this way. Second, I didn't have my surgery yet. Im scheduled June 13th, so unfortunately I cannot relate to these exact surgical related issues with the sleeve, BUT....let me tell u where I am if u would....I have had 16 other abdominal surgeries (hernia repairs/bowel obstructions), and my life has changed drastically from the surgeries alone. I live my life in bed, and I have a 12 yr old boy. Since all my surgeries, I am a different person. I feel like crap, and never have energy. I walk around naseous 24/7. I have been on reglan for nausea for yrs now. The Dr's tell me it's from all my previous surgeries. They dont know the reason y I feel like I do... I am good one day, then feel like a total zombie/space cadet the next. I have 3 other hernias that need repair now, and a hiatal hernia. I have lupus, diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, osteo arthritis and every other co-mobility in the book. In addition, my intestines r hanging way down below my pelvis, and Im in a dangerous state right now. With all this going on, no surgeon will repair any more hernias unless I have a weight loss surgery too! So, here I sit, and will be sleeved in addition to all on the 13th of June, but I do understand where ur coming from, and I want u to know ur not alone, and it is a HORRIBLE FEELING, and IM SOOOOO SORRY U R GOING THROUGH ALL THIS. I know I will be experiencing the same afterwards, ..BUT ULTIMATELY, IF U EVER FEEL LIKE TALKING, PLZ FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ME here or ursiegirl2007@aol.com, and like many of ur responders said...try the gatorade....it does work. I have deficiencies too, and im always dizzy, light headed, ect....There r days I cant stop eating, and days where I have to stop for a week or so, just to calm the intestines. I have heard stories like yours, but I know that in the end, it all works out, and the wls ppl r all doing fine now. I hate to say it, but Hang in there, and just keep telling urself U R STRONG, AND THIS TOO SHALL PASS!!! It has helped me hang in there for yrs now. Good luck to ya, and THANK YOUUUUU FOR LISTENING LOL !!! Feel better Erin/many prayers ur way

    Pre Op Jitters

Iv'e been thinking exactly like u, but unlike u, I am feasting awayyyy, every day!!!! no good I know. Im a great worry ward too, and every one says to me....stayyyyyy awayyyyyy from these sites, cause they only put things in ur mind, but I feel, as one of ur other responders said, educate yourself, and read, read, read....in my opinion, the more u know....the better you'll feel, if god forbid u (not u in particular, but anyone) cant swallow the first few days or whatever, we'll know it's common, we will be prepared and say ohhhh yeah....I read that, it happened to sooo many ppl..... it's ok, it will get better.. That is how Im looking at it anyway. Im just so worried cause I have every co-morbility listed on the chart that I saw at the seminars, plus 4 additional hernia repairs that have to be fixed, so my hair is literally standing up, but at this point, the surgeons r saying.....I have no choice. My intestines r completely out of line,, hanging down below my pelvis, so they have to open me up anyway. I gave birth at 475 lbs, and after 12 yrsss lol, im only down 100 lbs, so Im freaking out!!!! but u will be fine, think positive, and read, read, read!!! now if I can only take my own advice lollll, i'll be ok too! Kidding....YOU WILL BE FINE, AND U WILL MAKE IT, LIKE EVERY ELSE!!!! KEEP IN TOUCH MY NAME IS URSULA
  11. lolllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll hahahahahahaha. That had to be the funniest thing I have ever heard, I kid u nottt!!! Anyway, ur good! have to give u credit, big time!!! Keep up the good work.......and keep in touch too!

Day 3 on my 2 week Pre Op Diet....

Awwwww, im with ya girl!!! It is sooooooo hard, I know. I just posted a newbie saying how bad I am feastinggggg every day! I am sooooo nervous, and everything in my mind is sleeve, sleeve, sleeve, so im eating totally out of control. I dont think I've eaten this bad in yearsssss, but I know the time is near, and it will come to having to choice but to do it even though there is no pre-op diet for me, according to my surgeon. But, thanks for the info bout the pre-op stuff. Im gonna keep trying. Im off to a good start again today. Good luck to ya, and plz keep in touch, and thank u again

Day 3 on my 2 week Pre Op Diet....

Hi Im not being sleeved till june 13th, so I have a way to go yet, but....my surgeon requires no pre-op diet, and with my 16 abdominal surgeries I've had in the past, some laporoscopic/some open, I have always had to do some type of pre-op to shrink the liver. Im curious to know....what u r eating for the pre-op, if u dont mind me asking? I would really like to do some sort of pre-op diet on my own. I have the Isopure Protein shakes, but I dont know how many to have a day, and...I dont know what else to eat I can't understand how there is no pre-op for me, so I def want to try something on my own. Thanks, and keep us posted......Good luck on ur surgery....ur almost there
  14. Hi I have not been sleeved yet, but my sister who had the gastric bypass 5 yrs ago, cannot eat bread at all, and a friend of mine (also bypass surgery), cannot have any breading, so I guess it is a common thing, but all depends on u. Hopefully it will get better. Good Luck to u. Keep up the good work
  15. Hi I have not been sleeved yet, but....I have had 16 abdominal surgeries, some laporoscopic, and most open. From what my surgeons have told me in the past, it all depends on the liver. If u have a fatty liver, and they have a hard time getting in, they may need to do it open. Some surgeons will tell u b4 hand that if the liver is not as required, they may have to do it open. My surgeon for the sleeve says I dont need a pre op diet. I will be open anyway, cause im having 4 hernia repairs and more, at the same time, but I know for sure....that pre-op diet does help shrink the size of the liver to make it easier for them. Good luck to u.
  16. CONGRATSSSSSSSSSSS APPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know all about that diabetes, thats for sure. I run sugars of 400 myself, and I was wondering if I will ever come off the meds, but Im hearing good things You look and sound soooooooooo happy, thats WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!! Oh my gosh.....major good luck and may all ur dreams and desires come true!!!! My sleeve is not till June 13th, but Im soooo excited reading all these great posts
  17. Hi , Congrats on ur sleeve first of all, and thanks for ur post. It kind of answered my question I am asking all over the site I am a person who eats all day long. The good thing is....Im not a sweet eater. My body craves protein. I need my whole chicken and a whole bag of salad for lunch!...but my question to sleevers is...after u eat, do u feel full like u would after a meal b4 surgery? or is it like...ok, I had my 4 oz and I need more...that crazy type of hunger as u put it. I eat very big once or twice a day, but crazily I can eat an 18 lb turkey. I know it sounds absolutely crazy, but that is y i am 330 lbs, coming down from 475 giving birth to my son! but in 1998 Anyway, thanks for ur post again, and good luck to u. May all ur dreams and wishes come true thx
  18. HI Congrats on ur new sleeve Im not being sleeved till June 13th, along with 4 hernia repairs and then some lol...but im wondering if u wouldnt mind answering this question...after u eat (being sleeved of course), do u feel full, and can u walk away as if u had a big meal, or is it like....ok, i had my 4 oz, and i need more!!!! I am not a sweet eater, but I can pack away the protein and salads. I mean, im never satisfied unless I have a whole chicken and a bag of salad for lunch alone ! and my body is alwayssss craving protein, I dont know y, and neither does my Dr lol I eat just about nothing else, other than proteins and salads, but tons of it...thats y i am 330 lbs. Anyway, good luck to u, and ur new sleeve. Ur right in time for the summer Thanks
  19. Hi Im not being sleeved till June 13th, along with 4 hernia repairs, and then some, but....that is my concern. I eat non stop, and always have very huge desires to eat. Im not a sweet eater, but I can pack away the chicken and salad. I guess that would be good if I were having the bypass, but Im not, but I feel like I cant live without my whole chicken for lunch I know it's all in the head with me, and am trying to find out if after u eat (already being sleeved that is), do u feel full??? if u dont mind me asking? and can u walk away as if u had a big meal ? or is it like.... ok, I had my 4 oz but I definitely need more, and of couse we cant eat that way anymore? I dont know if im explaining myself right. Anyway, good luck with ur new sleeve, and may all ur wishes and dreams come true! thanks quote name='Infernored' timestamp='1303481901' post='140843'] I am not necessarily hungry but it's more mental. Like when I would be sitting in the living room watching a movie or something, I would have a huge desire to be eating a whole bag of chips like I might have before surgery. I have found out, that my eyes are still, and even more so now, much bigger than my stomach. Just last night, I had an urge for softserve ice cream. I ordered a small, but the small is still really big. I barely made a dent in it and had to throw it out. In a way, I'm kinda grieving for the way I used to eat. It wasn't healthy for sure, but it definitely did satisfy an emotional part of me.
  20. Hello again , Thanks for the inspiring post. I not only ate the cold potatoes, but the raw chicken too!!! I want to wish u a wonderful and speedy recovery, and Many, Many good years to come for you. You will be in my prayers. I know you will do fine. Just get back here fast, we will all be waiting to hear from your skinny self afterwards !!! You gooooo girl !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. I CANT BELIEVE IT...I ONLY STARTED A NEW TOPIC TODAY, ASKING FOR ADVICE ON PRE-OPING B4 MY ACTUAL PRE-OP TIME, AND I CALLED MY SURGEONS OFFICE TODAY (DR HANS SCHMIDT NJ), AND I WAS TOLD NOOOOO PRE-OP DIET AT ALL!!!!!!!!!! ANYONE EVER HEAR OF THIS?>
  22. HI , IM REALLY SOOO HAPPY I FOUND THIS SITE. IM FINDING MORE AND MORE USEFUL TOOLS HERE. MY SURGERY IS NOT TILL JUNE 13TH, BUT IM TRYING SOOOO HARD TO DO LIKE A PRE-OP DIET TYPE THING B4 HAND, BUT IM EATING MORE THAN EVER!!! I THINK I MIGHT HAVE EVEN GAINED A FEW POUNDS (NOT GOOD I KNOW) IM THINKING TO EAT AS I WOULD NORMALLY, AND WORRY ABOUT THE PRE-OP WHEN IM SUPPOSED TO, RIGHT B4 SURGERY. ANY SUGGESTIONS/ADVICE ON THAT? I KNOW IT SOUNDS STUPID, BUT REALITY IS SETTING IN, AND ALTHOUGH I STILL HAVE LIKE 6 WEEKS, I WOULD LIKE TO BE DOWN AT LEAST 20 LBS.
  23. I understand how hard it is, but I understand what ur going through. I have not had the sleeve yet, but I am scheduled for june 13th. My husband is from another country. He is thin as a rail, and understands NOTHING about weight, health, and weight related issues. He works at a donut shop, and brings home stuff every day, even if I ask him not to. I love my husband dearly, but he just doesn't understand! I am sick of it all, with every ailment in the book, and have had 16 abdominal surgeries in the last 10 yrs due to complications with the weight (hernias/bowel obstructions, etc..). When I went to the seminar, I asked the surgeon who was speaking, if they ever did surgery on a person who had every co-mobility listed on the chart we were looking at. In any event, I personally decided. I will take one last chance, and u know what? I will do it all alone, and thats how u have to look at it in my opinion. If this is affecting u and ur family at this point, and u have had it, it's time to do something about it! Dont wait any longer like I did, till (god forbid), more things happen. You have a daughter that will be looking forward to having a father in her life for the rest of her life. I have a 12 yr old to continue raising, and I just have to be here for him, unless it's the will of the good man upstairs, then, i'll have no choice, but ultimately, u have to do whats good for u at this point, and hopefully after all is well and done, she will come around, and stand by ur side. Good luck to u, and be strong. Do what u have to do for yourself, cause ultimately it will benefit all of u. I never learned that lesson, and thats y im in the situation im in now. Prayers ur way Again Good Luck

    Tommorow morning!

I know im a little late wishing u luck and recovery a.s.a.p, but as they say...better late than never.....Yes, ur day has come!!! You're in my prayers. Good luck and I know ur doing well
  25. HI, Im sooo happpy i found this site, but I dont know where to post my story. I thought I did post when I first signed up, but cant seem to find it! Anyway, im wondering if there is anyone out there that has had the sleeve done with a bmi of 53 or so, with diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, osteo arth, copd, LUPUS, 4 previous hernia repairs, 5 bowel obstructions, and now i need 3 new hernias that need repair, a hiatal hernia, an erosive essophagus, erosive gastritis, and gastric reflux disease????? A bariatric surgeon in NJ referred me to a trauma surgeon who specializes in hernias, and he sent me to the surgeon who will sleeve me. Im scheduled for June 13, but am I crazy for undergoing all this with all these ailments? I am in pain now cause my intestines r completely out of place, hanging down very low, so that needs repair asap, and while in there and open, the surgeons r suggesting the sleeve big time. Any advice, suggestions, previous stories????? helpppppp and thx
