Women Only Question
sasicas replied to legnarevocrednu's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was never blessed in that dept, well except when pregnant and nursing. I went from a 30-40B down to a 34-36 A, I'm inbetween sizes right now. I told my husband I might as well just start shopping in the training bra section lol. -
It is frustrating having to still use that stupid machine. It makes me crazy. I really thought I would be able to get rid of it because it has started to bother my throat but nope, still need the same settings. The ENT did look to see if anything looked off and if having adnoids and tonsils removed would stop it but he said all looked good and he said only a 50/50 chance of it actually working, he assumed that it would not and claimed it was all my weight, which I didn't believe anyways since my family all told me I had been snoring like crazy since birth. I opted to not go through with the surgery because I was told how painful it is as an adult and with the ENT thinking it wouldn't really work. I might give in and go through with it though. I really am sick of the CPAP.

When did you buy new bras?? - Ladies
sasicas replied to Sunny702's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh and I should mention that I tried on nearly every bra I could at VS and not one of them fit me right. I ended up back over at JC Pennys where I found some great Ambrielle bras. -
When did you buy new bras?? - Ladies
sasicas replied to Sunny702's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I finally gave in at goal when I would raise my arms and my bra would raise up and my boobs would fall underneath it and I was tired of it First I got on the JC Penny site and started looking up bras and found they have a video that shows exactly how to size yourself. So I sized myself and wanted to cry so after being nearly in tears to my husband he sent me off to Victorias Secret to get sized. Uh yeah, they told me the same size. Now that I am in the right size, in such a small 36A, it does make me feel better to have a bra fit right. -
YES! I have been dealing with this the last few months. My surgeons were unconcerned as my lab work all looked fine. It happens every day, doesn't matter how much I get in, how fast I get up, it just happens Someone here suggested needing more salt, I'm working on it but I do not like salt so it's been difficult.

Yay for getting rid of your CPAP! Unfortunately for me, my sleep apnea is just as bad now as it was pre-op and I am below goal *sniff sniff*. My settings haven't even changed The surgeons told me that 90% are cured of their apnea. They were actually really surprised that I still have it since I am in my 20s and have lost all my excess weight

Getting protein from food
sasicas replied to dramagirl28's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My sleeve has not tolerated any protein shakes since surgery, even when I tried to add some to smoothies and such. I am 7 months out and do not track my food but I just make sure to start with protein first. Rarely is their room for anything else since I still eat so little, at this point I just got to where I can eat a whole egg LOL! I do have a snack every few hours and generally eat something like pumpkin seeds or string cheese, both high in protein. -
I'm gonna turn into WHAT???
sasicas replied to favoredone's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Boy do I know about this one! A few things can be behind the comments, fear, jealousy, self-consciousness, etc. I have not changed, other than not being as self-conscious as I was. However that has not changed who I am. Yes I am working on me, but only in deciding what style I like to wear I have lost friends. THe person I thought was my best friend walked a few weeks after my surgery. She saw me as competition and even went so far as to start dieting, basically starving herself, so I wouldn't weigh less than her. I started to see her true colors pretty quickly especially after she found out she was going to see her sister. Now her sister was nearly 300 lbs. My "friend" was around 175 and she said she needed to quickly lose weight to "show" her sister. Uh hello! She was nearly half her sisters size already and all she wanted to do was make her sister feel even more like crap! Who does that?! Anyways, as I lost weight, she started to make more comments and to move away. Then she started ignoring me all together and I have not spoken to her since. Apparently I was just the fat friend that made her feel better about herself. I'm better off without her. There has been quite a few making comments about needing to lose because I was close to or smaller than them. And that hurts every single time. Why can't they just be happy for me?! Anyways, sorry to go off on that one, you could see some friendship changes but it will be because of them, not likely because of you changing. And hopefully your friends really love you for you and will eventually just be happy for you -

You look great! My face has gotten so much smaller, I still have a bit of a double chin but it seems I am the only one who really notices it lol. -
not able to keep food down
sasicas replied to April D Wierzbicki-Robledo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would see if you could bump your appt up to tomorrow. There could be something wrong and it is simply not worth the risk. Are you on a PPI? If you are, maybe you need a higher dose or a different med. I had issues in the beginning, I didn't vomit until I was hospitalized during the 6-7 week mark but I was constantly nauseous, I hardly got anything down, Water was even hard and Protein was a definite no-go for me. First I was switched to Nexium which began to help some, but then I got worse again and ended up in the hospital for nearly 2 weeks. Turns out I had a small hole at the top of my sleeve, a stricture, a kink in my sleeve, and increased swelling. The stricture was ballooned open during a scope and the hole was seen after that and was eventually glued shut. The swelling, per the surgeons, is seen in some patients and tends to get worse as the weeks go on until around the 7 week mark where it seems to finally go down for those of us with the increased swelling. I ended up unable to eat or drink anything at all during the whole hospital stay until the last day in, I had to have a PICC line put in too. Once I finally got well enough to go home I was put on Nexium twice a day and Zantac once a day. It is not worth waiting when dealing with issues! And there are medications you can be given if it is a matter of just dealing with excess swelling causing the vomiting. My situation, though very annoying, was nothing compared to some of the complications others have gone through. You need to get seen and make sure it is not something REALLY serious. -
I am 7 months out and still dealing with memory issues, still very forgetful, I have become a list maker now just to keep track of what I need to do.

need suggestions.....
sasicas replied to meggspeggs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat pumpkin seeds. Love the ones I found in the veggie area at Wal-mart, they are already out of the shells, not too much salty and high in protein. -
I've had that after each surgery.

Getting back on track
sasicas replied to LSUVetGirl10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
High protein ideas are string cheese, greek yogurt, tuna, egg salad, chicken salad, hard boiled eggs, meatballs, those are all my faves -
It has helped me many times. I started out with the Gas X strips and now use the pills.
-
I also take the costco adult gummies. The NUT said the same thing at our appts however they work great for me. My lab work has been great at the 3 and 6 month appts, the only thing off was Vit D and that has to do with where I live. And I should admit that I rarely remember to take them but it seems the food I am eating has done plenty.

Did your tastes change after surgery?
sasicas replied to suez383's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's totally normal. I am 7 months out and so many tastes have changed. I now like bacon, which I couldn't stand before and that is just the beginning of it. Then there are things like my favorite frappachino that I no longer can tolerate -
Yay! YOu look great!
