  1. Im only a day ahead of you in recovery and I LOVE my sugar free popsicles! They do taste far sweeter than they did pre-op but its a nice break from water Oh and yesterday I tried the punch (i think thats the flavor it was) Isopure, it was very dull and needed something sugary so I took some of an orange sugar free popsicle and added it to the Isopure, sooooo much better after that, gave it some sugary flavor and acted as ice in the drink

    I'm sleeved!

Thanks everyone! Things are still going well tonight, so ready to go home though.
  3. can't believe I am finally sleeved! Surgery was yesterday and took approximately 4 hours. My dr. said all went well. Last night was such a blur from the anesthesia and the morphine pump. Because my surgery ended so late in the day I had doctors and nurses in my room every hour last night. So I'm pretty tired. The pain hadn't been too terrible as long as I used the morphine pump and the nausea meds. I also have sea bands on and this cool little tube that smellls good and helps relieve nausea. I did spike a fever and my heart rate is a little fast. Labs this morning showed I was pretty low on magnesium this morning so they took care of that through the iv as well as a few different antibiotics. Had a ct to look for any leaks this morning and all was fine. So they finally took out the catheter and unhooked the IV, yay! I was also finally allowed to start drinking Water too and broth and Jello are on their way to my room. I'm finally getting around now too, able to go for walks which I couldn't do this morning because I was still too wiped out. All in all things are ok

    I need to Vent...

I know its so hard! I have people in my local support group that outweighed me by 100 or more lbs and they did not have a liquid diet. I have two people that I have spoken with that had the same surgeon in the last few months and no liquids for them either. It's annoying, but for whatever reason my doctor put me on a 2 week liquid diet too Its been hard but I am down 12 lbs as of today and surgery is tomorrow so Im doing only clears today (though he didn't say I had to) Anyways, hang in there, we are almost ready to be sleeved!!

I fell off the pre-op diet wagon last night.

Like others have said, today is a new day to start fresh. I have cheated as well on my 2 week pre-op liquid diet. Once on pizza and salad at the Cheesecake Factory and then on a footlong from Subway. I've also had a taquito one night and a croissant roll. The pre-op diet is hard. Its been beyond difficult for me to stick to liquids only but its worth it. Just think, soon enough your surgery date will be here
  7. My surgery is next week and that is what I am struggling with right now. I know its surgery and a major one at that, but this part of me keeps asking why I am taking this route instead of losing the weight on my own. I sometimes feel like I'm cheating but then I remind myself how many times I've tried and failed and the statistics of how many people that lose it without surgery and gain it back. *sigh* and of course it doesn't help that I know people who think I am taking the easy way out.

    Chickening out

So its been a few days and thought I would give another update. I am doing much better. I found a unflavored Protein at Vitamin World and am mixing it in with my sugar free pudding and Jello and its made all the difference in the world, Im getting enough protein to not need to drink the shakes which is great. I also ordered some of the unjury unflavored and the chicken Soup, excited to get those to try next So at a week into my liquid diet I am down 9 lbs!! I know its Water weight but man its nice to see some lbs coming off with all this. I do have to admit I totally cheated this weekend though. I had recieved a Cheesecake Factory giftcard and gave in to the temptation. I didnt even want cheesecake, just the pizza and salad from there. I had nothing else that day other than water and have been doing pretty good since. Getting excited to finally fit in some cute clothes, less than a week to go!
  11. I am really, really struggling today. Ive gone through this whole process since August, Ive completed everything, I have my surgery date and Im on day 3 of this 2 week pre-op liquid diet. Ive been so sure about this process the whole time. And now Im thinking Im crazy for doing this. I know the first few days are the hardest on the liquid diet but this Protein thing is killing me. Ive tried chocolate and its just grossing me out! I normally love chocolate and it doesnt taste bad but its just the thought of it is seriously making me gag. Ive tried two different brands. THen I tried vanilla and oh my goodness! I had to spit it out. Tried it in just a Protein Drink to start with, then today tried a smoothie ICK ICK ICK! Im going to return the 4 jugs of protein Ive bought, thats for sure. So now Im just drinking a smoothie with fat free milk, low fat yogurt, blueberries and strawberries. Not a lot of protein but I just cant stomach the stuff. I cant even drink the Carnation Instant Breakfast and I normally like those I just dont know what to do, Ive invested all this time and been so sure of it and Im so stinkin close and ready to quit I know I need help to lose this weight. My starting weight is 240 and Ive lost and regained so much over the years. I need it, but I dont know if I can do it

    Pre-op Diet

It will get better! I am on day 7 of the full liquid diet. Make sure you are drinking enough. I finally found some good unflavored Protein at Vitamin World and its made such a difference. Of course the cravings are there, especially when I am cooking for the family, gee its hard to not just eat it all lol. Other Protein drinks make me feel sick to my stomach so the unflavored is awesome. I mix it in with the sugar free Jello and pudding. It totally changed the color of the jello which made it look seriously creepy but I cant taste it in there. Just make sure to mxi it in good. With the pudding, I mix the protein in with the milk, then add the pudding mix. With the jello, I mix the protein in with the cold Water, then add it to the hot water mix. Im drinking tons of Soup broth and drinking lots of water. Ohh and sugar free popsicles.
  13. My diet is just full liquids. Ive been living on jello and pudding mixed with unflavored protein, soups, chicken broth, yogurt, popsicles and lots of water

    Chickening out

You all are just amazing. Its so great to know I have this site to help me get my head on straight. Most of the ladies at our support group are in their 50s and 60s and all so encouraging me to get it done now and not struggle during these years with my weight. I am excited to have more energy to do stuff with my kids and not be worried that I am embarrassing them or myself. I keep reminding myself of a situation I had in the last few months. We took our teen youth group from Church to the skating rink. I LOVE skating and even with the weight can do so pretty easily without getting too out of breathe. Well one of my girls needed help with something and pulled me to the ground. in the middle of the skating rink. With nothing around to help my fat butt up on rollar blades. I was mortified. And its not like I was just out with a bunch of strangers. My husband was there, my friends were there, the teens from our group were there and my fat butt had to do everything I could to get up off the floor with nothing to grab on to You all are so right, I have to do this for myself, I need to give my fears to the Lord and just keep on moving toward this surgery. I have to do it for me and I have to do it for my family. I want my husband to look at me as his hot wife ♥ and I need my kids to look at me as a mom who would get out there and play them. Thank you all sooooooo much!!

    Chickening out

Being able to eat small portions and being satisfied is absolutely one thing I am excited for. What a blessing that would be! cwalker, thank you for that encouragement too! It would be so amazing to not need a tummy tuck afterwards. Also puts my mind at ease at this surgery being easier than the c-sections! So, I really want to thank everyone so much for getting me back on track. Thankfully tonight was support group too, they really brought me back down to earth and helped calm my nerves, everyone laughed saying they remember being at the exact place Im at right now with starting to panic and second guessing my decision. A few of the ladies plan to come visit when Im in the hospital too so thats nice to know how much they really care and will be there for support post op. Again, thank you everyone for your help. I will be heading out tomorrow to hopefully find some more Proteins to try out

    Chickening out

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the advice. Its not just the Protein drinks, its being scared of yet another surgery. Ive had 5 so far in my life and Im only in my 20s. Then of course I think of needing a tummy tuck (which I already need from having 3 c-sections), and possibly more surgery to fix what I have done to myself. I try not to be a worrier but I worry about what would happen to my family if something were to happen to me. My children are so young. Its just pre-surgery jitters I guess. It annoys me that Ive allowed myself to get to 240 lbs. I have friends who eat so much worse than I do, who exercize less than I do and still dont gain. Its annoying. I am going to return the protein I did buy and keep looking, I just cannot see myself drinking something that makes me want to vomit. Im just scared.

    pre-op liquid diet & exercise

I don't know if you can or not but I know from my experience on only day 2 of the liquid diet, there is no way I can actually exercize, Im wiped out and starving.
  18. I think Im going to starve to death lol. Ok, well maybe not starve to death but IM HUNGRY! I have no idea what all to eat, my doctor gave no guidelines on the pre-op diet other than saying it was full liquids for 2 weeks prior to surgery. Guess I need to go find my after surgery book for some ideas on what to eat. I've had a Carnation Instant Breakfast made with fat free milk and some decaf coffee with vanilla creamer. Not much in the way of calories or substance at all. I'm also using regular stuff, the sugar free stuff makes me gag so Im saving that until I HAVE to switch. Whats really confusing for me is that I know 2 people who had the same surgeon *1 sleeve, 1 RNY* and neither one had any kind of pre-op diet. I am starting out smaller and quite a bit younger than them too so I dont know what the deal is. Anyways, I will do whatever he wants me to do so I am sucking it up. So far Ive had to make breakfast and lunch for the family and soon up making my all time favorite meatloaf for dinner. *sigh* I want meatloaf too but I know this is only for a time that I have to starve. Gee it will be nice post-op when *hopefully* I wont be hungry anymore. The worst part is having to pee every 5 minutes Oh and having to document my weight and measurements was not a fun thing either. I did have to laugh earlier today, I got a giftcard in the mail for my upcoming birthday for the Cheesecake Factory hehe. One day I will be able to use it Well, I guess thats enough complaining, maybe a nap wil help with the hunger pains.
  19. Well I made it through the first day. I woke up with a headache this morning though *sigh* I did go out and buy some Optimum protein and its better than the AMP I had bought but seriously, I dont think I can handle all the chocolate YUCK! I normally like chocolate but its just too much. I am going to try out some new recipes for smoothies today.
  20. Ive been told that getting a timer and setting it between each bite has helped others to slow down.
  21. Thank you!! THose look amazing!!
  22. WOW! Thank you so much for these, started my pre-op liquid diet today and this will help tremendously!
  23. Thank you for the list! I didn't even think about yogurt and I have some of that in the fridge right now Getting ready to try out some of these Protein drinks for dinner tonight too, really hoping its good, Ive found some great sounding Protein shake recipes on a blog. Thanks!
