Sorry to hear that stressful times are amongst us! Coops, you are so good at being sleeved, I don't have any doubt that you can do this too. I have always admired your will and attitude. I completely agree with thinoneday -- take everything one day, one hour, one minute at a time. Instead of worrying about the entire upcoming weeks, just get through each day and mentally pat yourself on the back for getting things done that you need to. And I believe a chocolate bar at this stage would make you ill...physically probably. Plus, think how much MORE stressed you would be by getting angry at yourself for turning to food for comfort and eating the sugary calories you don't want or need. You can do it!! {{HUGS}} to you and chilo both.

No way. Not a word. -

*gobsmacked* Seriously. How the eff do you respond to something like that?!? I would politely brush past it I'm sure, but omgwtf. Can not BELIEVE people didn't learn better manners than that. -
Day 16 -post-op Doctors Visit
swizzly replied to meggiep's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Alas, five more days. I hope you won't be gnawing on the furniture by then. It's great that you are doing so well, I'm very happy for you. -
Do you have any rather odd or unique goals?
swizzly replied to meggiep's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh man, that one is one of my biggest fears. I don't know what's wrong with me. -
Congrats! Well done.

The POSITIVITY thread:
swizzly replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I live in a country full of small, sporty, skinny people. Yesterday at a work meeting, I was not the biggest woman in the room. I was also not even the SECOND biggest woman in the room. THAT was absolutely astounding, in the best way. -
Those hiccups are a bitch. I get them also when I'm too full or drink too fast. They SUCK. I do very controlled deep breathing from my diaphragm (and also hold my breath in between) to try and get rid of them. Eventually it works. Potatoes have a way of growing bigger after I eat them, I have to be careful with them in any form. But I have had pieces of hot-dog-like sausages without a problem.

I would buy a piece of jewelry, especially like a short/delicate necklace or bracelet that wouldn't have worked before.

1 mo out...when will the sizes start to drop???
swizzly replied to StacyS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was out of my pre-op trousers very quickly, maybe a couple weeks post-op at most. However, I lose weight around my arms, shoulders, ribcage area much slower and it took almost two months before my shirts started getting too big. -
Do you have any rather odd or unique goals?
swizzly replied to meggiep's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so not goal-oriented, it's sad. I did want to weigh less than my husband, and I am now like 4 kg less than him. Right now, I would like to stop having anxiety attacks about what to wear to work. That would be just awesome. -
Low carb diet questions
swizzly replied to Sockmonkee38's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's a highly controversial topic for sure. I was just at my nutritionist today for my bi-monthly 'not eating enough carbs!' lecture. I am meant to be eating some carbs (whole grain is what I choose, but it's not required -- honestly, I am not sure there are even 'carb addicts' here) with every meal, or at least two meals each day. I kind of suck at it, but the whole program here is based on very balanced post-op diets. They are NOT Atkins or ultra high Protein fans. So it's still down to personal choice, within guidelines of your doctor/nut of course. But it's definitely possible to be on a program that is based on moderation and a balanced intake of protein, fruit/veg and carbs. -
Oh sweetie. First, {{HUGS}} This surgery is such a head game, it really does your head in if you let it. Not to mention the emotional roller-coaster it causes. I think you're probably doing just fine, sometimes stalls happen (not to everyone, but certainly to many, myself included) and you just have to push through it and have faith that it will work in the end. I think it's not productive to blame yourself and criticise yourself for a stall. You gotta take care of you! How many calories are you getting in each day? You need to make sure you're getting enough food in you to keep your mental, emotional and physical health. If you need Snacks, you need snacks, so find some that work for you. My plan has three meals and three snacks per day, to keep your blood sugar stable (which is personally quite helpful for my mental and emotional health, believe me). I also try for 1000 calories per day, because I don't want to be in starvation mode. Hang in there!! Some days just suck, but you'll feel better again in no time, and your scales will move again soon too.

I totally agree with the Tbsp of chunky peanut butter -- it's very satisfying and quite filling. I also eat yogurt for a snack, walnuts (just a few halves, they are great for fatty acids), beef jerky, or a hard-cooked egg.

In the hospital, ready for surgery tmw
swizzly replied to ahoy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad the surgery went well!! Hope you feel good to get up and walk around as well. -
Very cool, Congratulations!!

That is exactly what drew me to it as well. We may be the same age, but you are WAY skinnier than me. Oh well, just give me time and I'll hopefully catch you up! (I am in switzerland.)

Ooh, chilo, that is so cute!! I haven't got the t*ts for the strapless bandeau, but I love the look. I just got this one, but I have to say, things are spilling out all over the top part. It doesn't have cup size options, so I just got size 10 (top and bottom, when I should have gotten a 12 top)...which is still a bit tight on me of course lol, and I'm thinking I might have to take out the soft cups that are in there, as they just show up as outlines on my chest, like oversize nipples or something. Anyhow, it's hard to find good suits here, so I paid the outrageous shipping charges and I'm not sending it back, so I'll make it work. If all else fails, I will use the red pants and find another top to go with. Argh.

Possibly adjusting my goal weight
swizzly replied to Candace2314's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That HS pic is so cute!! You look really good at that height/weight (at that age, of course -- tho I am guessing you could be the same size now while being like 10 pounds heavier). -
I have to say, this is a meal that I LOVE now. All I need is one egg chopped up with a tsp of mayo and a dash of mustard, and then I eat it either with organic spelt crackers or one slice of thin whole wheat bread folded in half. I usually can't finish it all, but it's soooo good. My pre-op tummy did NOT like eggs, but my sleeve sure does. *shrug* (NB: Not trying to make you drool, just saying it's something to look forward to!!)

SO TRUE!!

How many of you 2 month or more out are still on a PPI?
swizzly replied to groovearmada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on 40mg twice a day of Protonix for the first month post-op, then I wasn't taking anything. But even though I didn't have an acid problem, my doctor wanted me to take 20mg Protonix every day, so I do. I haven't had any acid problems (my hunger was just hunger lol), so I guess we'll see over time if I need to stay on it. I'm not bothered if I do have to keep taking it, as I believe PPIs are pretty safe to take long term. -
Could be side effect of ketosis? Or maybe thrush? Hope you feel better quickly.
-
Good luck to you, see you on the other side.

Without telling a long story, I will just say that I think it is KEY to be conscious of this behavior and thought pattern, and to mindfully 'go around' or 'go through' it every time it rears its ugly head. Really, the focus I believe is to not let it get to the point where it's a mindless compulsion that you are no longer in control of. If you can see it and identify it, you can also be in the driver's seat. It's not easy and takes a lot of mental work and self-awareness...somehow I think both of you on this thread can absolutely manage this. Best of luck to you both.
