    heartburn after two years?

I get heartburn every now and then, always have done -- not noticed any increase lately. Though now you mention it, Georgia, I do have a bit more acid the day after a fast day. I chew Gaviscon from time to time, and I also take Protonix (PPI) as needed as well. I don't take it every day like I did first six months post-op (was required by my doctor), but even every now and then it seems to be effective.

How was your 5:2 day today?

LOL...no, never! He's extremely supportive and also eats very healthy most of the time. He was just texting me a photo of some gifts we got. But fast is done today, ended up at 560 -- that seems to be my number for some reason. But that's good enough!!

How was your 5:2 day today?

OMG, I LOVE chopped liver. I could eat it every day...! Momma mia. They have Schmaltz available in my grocery store... I just haven't done it yet (I like to have hard cooked eggs chopped up in there too). I like liver in most formats...

How was your 5:2 day today?

No, it's still today, my fasting day -- my husband only texted me the photo of all the yumminess on the table at home, just a few minutes ago. I'm still just thinking about it, haven't actually faced the temptation yet. Here's to BEING STRONG BEING STRONG BEING STRONG lol... I dig pizza toppings a lot actually. Right, I have to stop thinking about food today LOL...my mouth is watering and my tummy's a rumblin...

How was your 5:2 day today?

Y'all can call me whatever suits! I just wanted to offer an easier alternative LOL. Cheri -- VERY happy to hear your husband gets to stick around a bit longer. That has got to feel awesome that you're not last-minute scrambling and no mental preparation etc. GT -- glad to hear your energy has come up a bit? Hope that is the case! Are you a civilian or a member of the military? I'm wondering how you ended up where you are after losing a job. Your story sounds fascinating, but you can just ignore me or tell me to butt out for being so nosy!! Also, meant to add that I'm fasting today and am at 264 cals with the rest left for dinner, yay! But we got a gift from some friends of some bottles of wine and other goodies including foie gras. DAMN. Why did it come today?!? I will be strong...I will be strong...

Ate 1660 cals yesterday, am in full panic mode

Totally, me too -- it's why I brought it up. My mom was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis a few years ago and it's been rough. My Grandmother also has Celiac and Sjogren's (and Glaucoma...and...and.). Hope you are doing okay, GT!!

How was your 5:2 day today?

Pizza doesn't faze me anymore since I don't eat the crust. I eat the toppings off and enjoy it very much!! (Probably not on a fast day tho...go LV!!)

How was your 5:2 day today?

Yes, THIS. Totally!! This is what keeps me going!! It would be nice to lose down to my ultimate 65kg goal, but in the meantime, all my clothes fit and all is well. But the fasting benefits are what I'm in it for, for now. Thanks!!

    Surprisingly easy to gain weight..!

You know, Quest bars claim to have pre-biotic fibre in them, and I used to be addicted to those! But they were causing me so many issues that I had to give them up. I take loads of probiotics and eat a pretty varied diet, I'm an omnivore...but I won't go back to the supplemented pre-biotics cos they were a nightmare for me. I do take high doses of probiotics, cos years of antibiotics, especially a week of a hardcore broadspectrum after salmonella poisoning, did my gut in!!

GT -- did you say what your diagnosis was? I don't know if you'd rather not say, or if you posted it somewhere else and I missed it. Anyhow, sorry it is causing you fatigue and ill-feelings. Many hugs to you from far away.

How was your 5:2 day today?

I can't even think about pork scratchings ('rinds' auf Amerikanisch LOL) without gacking. I ate them once as a kid and got violently ill from them. That's me done. I wish I liked them cos they are totally primal... Anyhoo. The onesie thing totally cracked me up, coops!! NICE!! That is certainly an unprecedented NSV! Yesterday following my indiscretion with the pistachios, I ended up at about 650 for the day. I'LL TAKE IT!! Eating normally today...though that has already included Amaretti (sp?) and choccies. Oopsie. Right...onward! (I wonder why I don't lose weight on 5:2?? ) PS: Just wanted to add...my name's Dee (it's in my sig line), so you don't have to call me swizzly if you don't like, it's kind of a dumb nickname actually and reflects mostly my own paranoia.

LOL!! GT, DUDE...callllllllmmmmm doooooowwwwwwnnnn....!! Do you realise that 1600 calories is totally normal?? I eat more than that on a regular basis...on purpose! You'll be just fine, missus. I would like to add for the record that 1600 cals is 'deficient' enough to be a diet already, for any adult woman with or without an awesome metabolism...

    Surprisingly easy to gain weight..!

Sorry...I shoulda said, I am totally reading all the articles, love the MoJo one, fascinating! Thanks for linking these. I just can't tell what the probiotics are doing for ME personally. I am sure they are beneficial, they just don't have any obvious benefits that I can feel. But the science is convincing enough that I take them anyhow. And having had prebiotics (the inulin one specifically I think?) in food before, which has totally messed up my system, I wonder what is going on in there. Not ready for a poo transplant yet tho.

    Surprisingly easy to gain weight..!

Interesting. I have been taking a lot of probiotics since about a year post-op. I'm not sure entirely what they do, but they seem to sorta help somehow...?

How was your 5:2 day today?

Cheri -- do you like how you feel doing 5:2? That's enough to keep me going most of the time. I hope to eventually see a loss, but hey -- in the meantime, I am convinced that fasting is helping me in other ways. I'm fasting today except I just ate a crapload of pistachios that were not intended to be on the plan today... I think I need to get all the food out of my desk area, full stop. I used to (pre-sleeve) have a self-imposed rule against having or eating any food at my desk (eg, drawer of snacks or so). The SLEEVE actually changed this cos I had to have three snacks per day at first, and the (now-bad) habit has remained... So I think to help myself on fasting days, I will get rid of the nuts and dry fruit (and chocolate sigh) in my cupboard and just make it harder to grab something when I'm hungry and have low will power LOL. So I'm going to pretend I did NOT eat the pistachios calorie-wise -- meaning, I'll log them, but not take them into account for overall calories today so that I can have my proper dinner when I get home. C'est la vie, an extra 175 calories isn't a crime or anything.

How was your 5:2 day today?

Well, good on you for the week of relatives not causing a gain! I'm in fear for spending two weeks in the US soon...I'm going to have to really watch out... I agree about fasting in work instead of at home -- it's so much easier in the office especially on a quite busy day. At home I'm thinking, oh what could I have for lunch, dinner, snack, etc...

Coops -- did you start eating gluten again? If you go off it for a bit and then eat it again, it seems to cause worse tummy troubles for some than they were having to begin with. ?

How was your 5:2 day today?

That's one of the weird things about this particular episode -- I'm not a huge chocolate eater anyhow, and I never ate six pieces at a go most of my life, that I can remember. It was just a very weird situation. I reckon I might have had too much caffeine and/or had a low blood sugar hit me right about the time those chocolates presented themselves. Just a one-off I figure. I didn't go over the deep end once my fast was done in by that, though, so that's good. Had a delicious taco salad for dinner. Yum. Now I want another one...for Breakfast.
