Second fast day of week, done. 592 cals. Good enough!
-
I'll show you mine... (LBD's)
swizzly replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
FYE, FAB!!!!! You look just wonderful! -
I only realized quite recently that I was taking less than I thought! I did mean to at least take the RDA amount, I'm below that even!
-
I will take more calcium now I think, thanks!
-
I do the same pan frying technique with several vegetables, esp halved Brussels sprouts or asparagus. I use ghee tho, yummy and good for you!! I <3 fat lol.
-
BtB - I like fasted workouts too, mine are always such cos I work out early in the morning. But also in fast days per se sometimes as well. I don't find it to be a problem at all, and it helps curb the unconscious eating of more calories that is possible after a workout, according to research I've read.
-
Georgia, THAT is interesting about your face. I didn't really twig at the time, but now I realize that two people have asked me if I've lost weight...cos my face looks thinner to them. I can't see a difference but all this fasting must be doing SOMETHING if not moving the scales!! Lol As to fasting, I'm semi doing the 16/8 thing anyhow, as long as coffee with cream doesn't count as eating...? I am not a Breakfast person anyhow.

12 week Transformation challenge for vets
swizzly replied to Fiddleman's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
FM, you are awesome!! I wish I had access to some of the workouts you're doing, most of which I've never heard of before. The trainers at my gym are good, so is my physio, but I think all are more old school, not sure if cross fit is a thing here yet. If it becomes available at the 'big' gym (my work gym is an outpost of one in town) I might add on the weekend upgrade option and try to do at least one of those per week. But it's another 500 to add the weekend gym option, not sure if crossfit would be included. Things is crazy expensive here. Anyhoo, I am the world's worst tracker and can barely keep track of weight never mind measurements. But I have kept up with my new HIIT approach to cardio and also added more weights and abs (and higher weights) as well as push-ups and planks. Seems to be a great workout for me, but my body is a bit stubborn about showing changes... That said, I am wearing my smallest clothes much more than I was, so I assume some changes have occurred. Thanks for all your great ideas!! I'm also considering to add a Pilates session once a week if I can find a good one that doesn't cost a bomb and is reasonably near work. -
Georgia, I'm just slightly shorter than you I think. About 5' 6.5 or so. My scans were included in my overall program which all gets somehow billed to insurance differently to a one off scan at a clinic or so. So I didn't have out of pocket cost for mine, but do have 1500 annual deductible which I've usually already reached by like April each year lol. Lynda, do you already belong to a gym or is the doc anyhow sending you to physio? Meaning, will the treatment be covered by insurance too? Did s/he prescribe calcium so you can get that covered too?
-
PS, I know walking is for sure a weight-bearing exercise, but might not be enough weight to bear as you are so tiny? Have you considered to walk with ankle weights or weighted backpack?
-
I also had pre op dexa scan and two year follow up scan. I hadn't lost any density and am still in the normal to high normal range for my perimenopausal age (46). I take only one calcium citrate cap per day, which I'd thought was 500 but now believe is only 250. However, I do a lot of strength training in the gym and I eat dairy nonstop cos its my favorite food group lol. But...that all said, I'm a pretty big boned girl and the docs have always said that is an advantage vis a vis bone density, so I think genetics play a big role in this. But yes, do some weight lifting with a trainer who knows bone issues, I'm betting it would help a lot!
-
Y'all's dogs look just like my smaller rat terrier. <3 Cheri, can't believe your doc gave you guff about weight!!?! That's crazy! You look great! And also? Are they really going after people who are SLIGHTLY outside the normal bmi range now?? I thought that was considered as fine these days...?? I'm kind of super annoyed on your behalf lol. Coops, Turkey sounds fab. Mid 40s is a bit too hot for me lol, we hit like 38-39 in the last couple weeks and that was hot enough for me!! :-) I've never met a Brit yet, tho, who wasn't mad about sunshine and hot weather! Lol, and always with a much better tan than I'll ever have! Have a great time!! Another fast day for me tomorrow and I should be asleep right now... You all must stop being so interesting! Gt, hope you're feeling better!! Daisy, congrats on the new grand baby! And welcome Cowgirl Jane!
-
Ohhhh no. !!! That is awful! Are you getting time off work to rest?? That is very bad stuff. I hope you are feeling a bit better? I was hospitalised for a week with something similar a couple of years ago and I never want to be that sick again in my life. UGH!! Here's to a speedy recovery! Drink a ton of water!! xo

hair loss and im little over 12 months post op
swizzly replied to lowe1961's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I'm 2.5 years out and my hair started coming out again recently. Very frustrating!! But my blood work is all stellar, so I don't think it's anything to do with vsg in my case. The first time my hair did this was a few years back, prior to wls. I agree with Lynda that in my case it's hormonal. Good luck! -
Just finished fast one for this week -- 490 cals, probably my lowest yet. Still weigh the same LOL.
-
Ha, me and you both LV!!! I never, seriously -- okay for one day when I had the dry heaves post-op -- ever lost my appetite, my sense of taste, my desire to eat yummy stuff. Not for a moment!! LOL. Figures!! That said, in my case it was absolutely perfect that it worked out like that, I feel really good to have a normal appetite and that things taste good and that I don't barf or slime or anything. This means I still enjoy my life!! And restricted food/eating too little is a bad place for me to be in, so I'm happy to have my appetite and taste buds!!

Well, I'm 2.5 years out and I never worry about a leak anymore. Seriously, it is mostly from the first three months I think?

Ate 1660 cals yesterday, am in full panic mode
swizzly replied to Globetrotter's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Oh there was a time I would have thought I was on the very verge of DISASTER AND DESPAIR over eating that much in one day. I spent years and years of obsessive calorie-counting and fretting and being a complete neurotic freak about it. I just can't sweat the little stuff anymore, life is too short and too precious to spend worrying about things like that. I generally try to 'be good' about eating reasonably and healthily, and I've become quite good at being grain-free/low-carb and about fasting two days a week without being obsessive about it (!!!), which is amazing in itself. So yeah, a one-off here and there? Just means I'm enjoying life and not getting wound up about the calories all the time. For me? This is a Good Thing. -
Ate 1660 cals yesterday, am in full panic mode
swizzly replied to Globetrotter's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
It was, it was Awesome! I am trying to pretend I feel bad for being so off the rails eating-wise, but I don't feel bad in the slightest. It was a great day...and life is short, so you gotta grab the great days when they come along. I enjoyed it all thoroughly. -
We finally got some sun back here, it's been rainy all week! Happy to see the sun again... Now that I was so bad yesterday (see: GT's OMG 1660 cals thread cos I can't confess twice LOL), I'm trying to be good today. Even though it's an eating day, I've been practically angelic. I'm only at 681 cals for the day so far, and upcoming is just dinner and some wine, so I'll likely end up in my usual 1400-ish range. Being good is hard and also a bit boring LOL. Cheri, I love your new photo, that is TOO cute!! Nice cleavage too, hubba hubba!! Is that the cute wee Elisheva? That name is brilliant. ETA: One of my BFFs, called Cherie, just died suddenly a couple of weeks ago, so I like to type your name and see your name in the threads, it's somehow soothing. <3

No, it happens all the time -- content is not licensed to play outside the US. Thanks for the summary!!

Ate 1660 cals yesterday, am in full panic mode
swizzly replied to Globetrotter's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I had to come back to this thread, GT, and post my confession for I have been v. v. bad... Yesterday? I ate about 2500 calories -- though I admit it could be more than that as I may have lost count... LOL. Seriously! It was a day full of naughty one-offs, such as full-fat, full-sugar chocolate jogurt, a packet of peanut M&Ms, steak tartare and fries, copious white wine, ice cream with whip cream... I mean, I am talking B-A-D!!! Just wanted you to know you're not the only naughty girl here... I'm not fasting today, but I am trying to be more virtuous to make up for that bit of wildness. It was my monthly "book club" meeting with three of my local besties...we sometimes actually read a book and talk about it too. ETA: MFP has already well chided me, telling me if I keep eating like that, I'll weigh half kilo more six weeks from now. Oy, THAT is probably true, even though their predictions of my STARVING TO DEATH and weighing 62 in six weeks are never even remotely accurate... -
Crap, those videos are never available "in my area" for viewing. What was the general finding of the program? Was he in favor of it?

What to do with the negAtive nellies and Nay sayers
swizzly replied to catobird1225's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just didn't tell anyone cos I don't need a bunch of "helpful opinions" and "good advice" LOL. I just wouldn't argue with anyone about it, it's really no one's business but your own. You certainly don't owe them an explanation and you don't have to convince them about your rationale. If it were me in your situation, I would just nod and smile and change the subject asap. -
I've had elevated liver enzymes (idiopathic, disappeared the next time round) elevated vitamin D (fine, just take it every other day) and slightly high iron (WTF YAY!! I've been anemic in the past) and other odd results. Thing is, my GP keeps pointing out, if we did these kinds of full panels all the time we'd find all sorts of weird shite, but because of WLS we get more blood panels and more slightly weird one-offs. But really? WE ARE GOOD!!!
