  1. I was banded on 12/21/11. I lost 40 pounds the first 5 months and had many fills and nothing. Somewhere along the way I lost 4ccs. They said I should be at 10 but when I went the other day she was only able to pull about 6ccs out. She put in 2 1/2 more cc's and had to take a 1/2 out because i couldn't keep down any water. Now two days later I am able to eat Greek Yogurt, about 3 tablespoons of Chili, and I chopped up some broccoli and chicken in my chopper and ate about 4 or 5 spoonfulls. I have a pain when I swallow right where the band is and the first night it hurt to even swallow. However, it seems to be getting better each day and the little bit of food I eat is staying down. Is my band too tight? Should I be able to eat more than a few forkfulls two days after the fill with no pressure. I am going for a fill adjustment with fluroscopy next week to see if my band is leaking, however I feel so much restriction now I think they were missing my port.

Is this normal after a fill?

Thanks, water is going down but I feel it and any food I eat and I get a pain in my band after I swallow. I have also had terrible heartburn in my band area that wakes me up at night.
  3. I was banded on Dec. 21st. By April I had lost about 40 pounds. I have no pretty much stayed the same give or take 3 pounds up or down for the past 4 months. I walk 10-15 miles a week and I try to eat right, however, I don't always make the right choices. I have 7cc's in my band and go for a fill on Oct. 2. Since my last fill I can finally feel some restriction. If I don't chew well or eat something I shouldn't, it gets stuck and it is very painful. Sometimes it comes back up, but more often then not I just have to wait out the pain. I have this fear that I won't lose anymore weight now that I have stayed the same for 4 months. The only thing I am guilty of is I do not take my vitamins and drink enough water. Any suggestions or similiar experiences would help. Thanks!

40 Pounds In 8 Months And Frustrated

I eat about 1200 calories a day. Sometimes less.

I Feel As No Band Is There.

It took me 4 fills until I felt any restriction. I was able to eat almost anything and a lot of it. Now I have 7cc's and I finally feel some restriction. Things get stuck and really hurt if I dont chew well, and there are many foods I can't eat anymore. I feel like it is relearning all over again. Hang in there, it will come.
  6. My origanal surgery date was 8/24 but as an unemployed teacher I was offered a job 5 days before and accepted although bitter sweet. My new surgery date is 12/21 and I wish it was sooner but atleast I will have 14 days over Christmas Break to rest and heal. I am still nervous and having so much time to wait yet again I read some of the horror stories people post and get second thoughts. However I know I will be a happier and healthier me in the long run. Anyone else in the same boat? Having the support system of others has really helped me through.
  7. I just got my fourth fill and I am at 7cc's. I had no restriction before and now I finally have some. I thought my band was broken before. I was banded in December, lost 38 pounds and then stopped. In the two weeks since my fill, I have to watch everything I eat, chew, chew, chew, and get full much quicker. I have never thrown up,however I do get stuck feeling with horrible pain if I don't chew well or eat something I shouldn't. I have heard that it takes some people many fills to reach restriction. I can now say I believe this is true. Good luck.

    Green Zone

Last week I got a 2cc fill making it a total of 7cc's. Before that I could eat almost anything, as much as I wanted. Since the fill if I don't chew well things really hurt going down like they are stuck. I can't eat as much, and some things get stuck and really hurt. It puts the fear in me like in the beginning to watch everything I put in my mouth, and chew chew chew.

    No Restriction Yet!

I was banded on 12/21 have had 3 fills since. I think I ave 5cc's in my and. I have very little restriction and can eat almost anything. I try and stay away from bread for the most part and have not tried steak or pork, but everything I have tried has gone down just fine. I am also eating too much at one sitting and find myself still starving at times. I know I have to have control of my eating but I really thought I would get sick if I eat to much or have trouble eating certain foods and besides from scars on my belly I don't even know I have a band. Will it get better with another fill? I have set a goal go to the gym daily and eat better starting Monday, so maybe this will jump start the weight loss again.
  10. Got my third fill last week and now have 5cc's in my band. Things I was eating with no problem like angel hair pasta now feel stuck and it hurts like crazy for a few minutes. Will this go away or should I avoid the foods that hurt all together?
  11. The pain feels like something is stuck right above my band forcing its way down. It only lasted a few minutes but i bunched over in pain and it was terrible. Today I was fine and had no problems. I have had no restriction before this fill and could basically eat anything and did not pay much attention to chewing. Now I guess I have a bit of restriction which is great but I have to pay more attention to the chewing and when a food gets stuck I think I will just avoid it. I do not eat bread but had no problem with angel hair pasta before this fill. I guess it is hard to chew because it is so fine. Thanks for all the input.

    3 Yrs 8 Months Out

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I needed to hear something like this. I was banded on 12/21 and have had two fills the next one is 5/8. I have little or no restriction. I have lost 36 out of the 75 pounds I need to loose and I am off my diabetes meds, however, I know I can eat too much. Maybe like you it will take one or two more fills. Thanks again!

    I'm So Happy

Thats wonderful! How many fills did it take for you to feel restiction? I was baned on 12/21 and have 5cc's and have no restriction at all. I can eat two slices of pizza if I want to. I am usually pretty good about eating but hope my fill on 5/8 does the trick. I have lost about 35 pounds in the 4 month.

    Tipped Port!

Good job, and good luck with you port.
  16. After my shower tonight a lot of hair was coming out in my hand. I mean have a lot of hair so I don't think I will go bald or anything but is this normal? I am banded 3 1/2 months now.
  17. I had my band on 12/21, the first fill was 2cc's and had no restriction. The second fill was 3 cc's and now I have minimal restriction. I eat well all day but I eat too much at dinner. I didn't think I would be able to eat that much without getting sick. For instance I had two small pieces of pizza tonight. I know i shouldn't have ate that much but my last meal was 6 hours before. I do not eat bread except for an occasional pizza or wrap, I drink no soda. I don't even know how much I should be able to eat. I have never been stuck. Every now and then I will eat something and lay down and when I get up I feel like someone kicked me in the stomache.
  18. Hi, I would love to be a buddy too! i had my band on 12/21 and struggling a bit too. I don't have barely any restriction and I had two fills so far, next one isn't till 5/8. I eat right most of the time but can eat too much. I have 3 teenagers and find very little time to exercise after getting home from work and running them around to sports and such. I have lost about 33 pounds so far but the last two months only about 3-5 pounds per month. Message me if you need to talk! Good luck.

    Noodles Or Pasta

I had my band 12/21 and now have not found any food that I get eat, although I don't eat bread or drink soda. During the liqued stage I did add a little cream soup strained and it helped but I would not try noodles just yet. I can eat angel hair pasta now, in small amounts. You will get through it, and then you won't even remember how tough it was. I love my band and feel great. I know I need a bit more restriction, but in time it will come. Good luck.
  22. I am 3 months post op and still having problems with BM's. If I don't take something I can go all week without going. I found milk of magnesia works well. Also, pain meds will back you up. Good luck!

    It's Been 4 Years Now...

Congrats on your weight loss. Your story is very uplifting and you sound like a very strong person. I feel the same way although I have been banded only about 3 months now. I love it and I can eat a little of almost anything. I don't eat bread and don't drink anything except water and hot tea, and will never try steak, but I haven't had any problems. I don't know if that will change with fills, I only have 5cc's in now. My life has only gotten better, no more diabetes meds and much more energy, and even though I chose to eat the not best things once in awhile I am constantly thinking about what I am eating and much more aware of just how much everyone around me eats. Thank you so much for sharing your story I will pray for your continued success.
  25. My surgery was 12/21 and I am down 6 bags of sugar and proud of it!
