I think I'm gonna try to go under 1000 cal again, I desperatly want to start losing again. Do you want to join me Coops?? All my knowledge of nutrition and how the human body works has proved of no use at all after I've had my surgery, but what I did learn is that we are all different and there is no 1 rule that suits everbody!

How did you decide on your goal weight?
chilo1 replied to Amanda131's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
At first my goal was to be a healthy BMI, about 141 lbs (I'm 5 4) I changed it to around 150 which is still in the overweight range BMI wise, so I have 9 lbs to go and will re evaluate when I get there. Our bodies change so much with the years that it's imposible to what will be right until we get there. -
Still Deciding and Scared!
chilo1 replied to optasia's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think we all have/had fears before our surgery. I didn't tell my inlaws-in fact i told a very small group of people, the last thing I needed was people criticising me when I'd already made the desicion and had my fears and worries about it anyway. I went to a party last night and felt fantastic, had the food that was available (and drink!) but in moderation, enjoyed it thoroughly and was able to get up and dance, take my coat off and feel good about myself! Complications happen, but aren't very common. Complications from being obese are much more common and likely to kill us. Hope this helps, and believe me , you're not a big baby, it's a big step to take (and some people would even say drastic) but it's worth it -
You haven't been round for a while, so THAT was the reason! Good that your doing things to looke better after all the hard work, that's what I think, as long as you don't take it toofar_I'd rather be addicted to that that than to food I booked my TT, liposection and boobs for december (in Paraguay-we're going for Christmas to see our family) and I'm so excited. I haven't reached goal yet, but I'm exercising loads and hoping to lose it all by december. Good luck with your TT revision!

I understand how you feel, but believe me when the weight starts coming off and you can resume your normal activities/social life again you will so good and so liberated! Don't worry we all go through funny emotions, good luck with your sleeve, you'll love it! -
NO regrets, even though I haven't reached goal and put on hold buying our house to be able to afford surgery(self pay in the UK), worth every penny!!

I wish this had a like button like FB, you're the best Coops and I know you're doing the best with your sleeve as well !!!

WooHoo! Past half way and nearly 100 lbs GONE!
chilo1 replied to Rootman's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
First of all congratulations!!! What an achievement in such short time! You know about the photos I was/am the same, hardle any preop photos where I'm not hiding, and now even though I'm nearly 60lbs down I still hide without even realising! Good luck on the rest of your journey -

At one month out ( tomorrow), how many carbs did you bring in?
chilo1 replied to fern's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Carbs are also on my plan, my nut told me not to count them! -

chilo1 replied to fern's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had loads of skimmed milk from day 2 post surgery and my carbs are/were always a bit too high because that. I tried soya milk for a while to lower my carbs but I just hate it. So yeah I drink milk and I have to put up with the slower weight loss, but I don't think I could survive without it -
VSG compared to C-Section
chilo1 replied to kaygarr's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had 3 c-sections and the recovery from the VSG is much easier. Post surgery I was more uncomfortable with the sleeve (the first few hours) but mainly because of gases. I too had a fantastic and quick recovery with my C-sections, and as I say with VSG the first few hours are the worse. Hope this helps, good luck -
Isn't it great! I wax and I used to have to put a mirror there to see what I was doing, now a have a panoramic view!!

Thanks again guys,I feel so much more relaxed after seeing my surgeon and will start to enjoy the new me a bit more now
-
Once again thanks for the feedback! Just came back from seeing my surgeon and he's really happy with my "progress" I still find it difficult to call it progress because I only lost a couple of pounds in so many months, he says he's happy with what I achieved up to now and my goal (yep, only 9lbs to goal now)is a very realistic one. When I said that I will still not have a "normal" BMI he said it didn't matter, he doesn't have a "normal" one either (and he is VERY fit and goodlooking). SO I am happy and less stressed

First of all can I say well done you for deciding on the sleeve after everything you've been through! I know its not comparable to your situation but I just thought I would mention I've had breast surgery (reduction-for medical reasons) about 8 years ago. After that I had a 3rd child ,breast fed, put on loads of weight, had my sleeve almost 8 months ago and lost quite a lot of weight in the last year (about 65lbs) Needless to say my boobs are a mess, deflated, saggy, not a nice sight. I plan to have them done in december when I get my TT done, seeing as I've done all the hard work I might as well get everything sorted out! Good luck and keep us posted!

I don't think that's unreasonable, I think here in England its more expensive, around $10,000. I'm getting mine done in Paraguay (that's where I'm from) my mums lending me the money, I think it's around $5,000. So seeing as we're going anyway for Christmas I had to book it now, I'm so excited!! I agree that with liposuction the results won't be as good, especiaally because your problem is probably mostly skin. I will prob have TT+liposuction, I still have some fat around my middle are. I am exercising like mad though to try to get rid of most of it before my surgery! I hope you find those $$ laying around, you'll feel fantastic, keep us posted!!

OUR Opinions!
-
Sorry Swizzly about the hysterical comment, I honestly didn't mean that, I guess it just hit a nerve with me. I've had such a good experience with my surgeon (and as I said before my Dad and my husband are surgeons) that I seem to forget that there are a**holes in all fields! (I'm not saying that her particular surgeon is) We all have are opinions on things and I know we should respect them. (please rant whenever you feel the need, it's what keeps me sane-ish!)

You guys are the best! Now this is just silly but reading your replies brought tears to my eyes. Thank you all so much!
-
Thank you guys I feel a bit better about this now. Tommorrow I'm seeing my surgeon so I'm quite nervous!

Disapointed and venting...
chilo1 replied to FuriosMommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand how you feel but please don't beat yourself up about it. At least you admit that you had a few hiccups and you're doing the right thing now. 4-5 lbs isn't a big deal, it can be water weight. Just continue doing what you are doing and you'll continue with the weight loss! -
Good luck to you, I didn't mean to give you bad vibes posting the studies that stae the liver thing. I too believe alot in things happening for a reason, and contrary to what a lot of people think i think doctors/surgeons have ouer best interests at heart as Dive said (maybe because my dad and husband are surgeons??)

Daily Carb Intake for Sleevers
chilo1 replied to Can'tweight's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Different views on this but people tend to go for 70 gr protein, around 40 gr carbs and fat around 30-40 I think. There are loads of threads because of the different views of amount of carbs. If you track your food on fatsecret.com (there are other food trackers out there too) when you enter your food it works out the amount of carbs, protein, fats as well as the calories of course. Hope this helps
