Calling all you apple shaped ladies
chilo1 replied to Griselda's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I used to be a pear shape, but in the last 7-8 years have been an apple. At first, when I started losing weight my body was exactly how you're describing yours. Now it's starting to change and I can't believe it! I do a lot of exercise, of all types and I'm quite excited to see what my final shape is gonna be like! Are you sleeved yet? -
Aww thanks for your comment, you're so sweet! Good luck in your journey, you'll be there in no time

HONESTY, GUILT AND SUBMISSION
chilo1 replied to TEXAS DIVA's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
Diva I did some cheating post-op as well. Atabout 2 weeks I ate a few bites of nachos, chewed to death and didn't even throw up afterwards. I also licked the icing off my baby's baptism cake. I felt like you after that, the guilt about all the money spent, etc etc and I stopped doing it! You will be able to eat all those things that you crave in small portions when you're a bit further out, so don't worry! The important thing is you realised what you were doing wrong and you are willing to change your behaviour, if I could do it so can you -
Why so few calories on maintenance?
chilo1 replied to Rainydayz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think that there is no scientific explanation, and that is why weight loss/obesity is not as straightfoorward as many people think (usually thin people who never have had a serious weight problem) it's not as simple as calories in calories out and that a negative balance unavoidably leads to weight loss is not true! Who knows what's in the environment as you say as well as our genetic makeup, how is it that some people (my brother who is adopted for example) eat loads of food and don't get fat and don't even exercise?? -
OK so today overall was a bad day. It started out well, went to the gym 1 hour cardio I felt really good after. I has a poached egg and 1/4 of o piece of wholemeal bread toast. Lunch about 1/2 a cup of chicken salad (with a teaspoon of low fat mayo and 1 of low fat greek yoghurt) After noon I had 1 chocolate chip cookie, and 12 mini carale slices,i know i know, i shouldn't have done that, still in losing stage. Was out with the childre all afternoon came home starving. Had a few flakes of smoked salmon and a few spoonfulls of mashed potatoes, way to quickly and it all came back up again and I was sick, a horrible feeling of chest oppression and nausea, not nice at all. It might be TMI but just so others don't make my same mistake, always have healthy snacks that you can tolerate when you're out and about so as to 1) not eat fattening junk 2) not arrive home starving and eat too quickly! I won't be doing that again for sure!

Why so few calories on maintenance?
chilo1 replied to Rainydayz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think what you say is true, we are all different an what applies to me might not apply to the next person. HAving said that, a lot of other issues may be: underreporting the calories we actually ingest, which is very common, especially in obese women, hypothyroidism or other hormonal/metabolic disbalances, starvation mode, which many people don't believe in, but their is a lot of literature out there that confirms that it is possible, age, activity (or lack of it). What I'm saying is that that is the norm, no less than 1200 calories for an extended period of time, it's possibly as unhealthy as being slightly overweight, especially if yo-yo dieting. -
Why so few calories on maintenance?
chilo1 replied to Rainydayz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Staying on long term under 1000 cal is dangerous, nobody should be under 1200 when maintaining whatever their height. I still have weight to lose, but am on around 1500 and maintaining, I know I need to go back to around 1000 to start losing again. I am very active though, so I am hoping that when I get down to 1200 and keep as active as I am I'll lose the pounds left to goal. -
Congratulations, you must be so proud of yourself!!

Same for me, don't need to use that much makeup and people also comment on my glowing complexion! Maybe our complexion reflects how we are feeling?
-
I'm so sorry you're going through this but at least you have the common sense to tell everbody what might happen to them. I hope you can eventually get the sleeve, in the meantime take care!

How interesting and true what you're all saying. The other thing I'd like to add that food is an addiction for most of us, but unlike other addictions (alcohol, drugs, gambling) we NEED to be in contact with our addiction in order to survive. So we can't give up completely on food, we have to live with it, prepare it, handle it, and try to avoid it at the same time! With alcohol, drugs you can stay away from it completely, and I'm not saying it's easy, but trust me to have the most difficult addiction to deal with

Well now WE don't know if she is actually getting the posts cause she never answered back after loads of posts, but a lot of good advice

Oh Coops I hadn't read this, but hang in there. To be honest I wouldn't mind having early menopause as I'm SICK of my periods and they already did their job in my life. I know the hormones and all that can drive you mad and it can make you very emotional. Just think that you'll be over and done with it and you'll still have your sleeve to help you in the process. If you weren't sleeved maybe you would drown your sorrows and emotions with food? Anyway goodluck and we're here for when you feel like screaming

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
I feel the same Irene, I already booked for TT and boob job for december so I hope to get to goal soon I can't wait!! Thanks to this I'm back to basics this week, and working out loads!! I think we deserve to treat ourselves!

8 months out and I can eat about 3/4 of a sandwich, but i always eat the inside first and leave at least half of the bread. It scares me that I can eat quite a bit more now than 2 months ago, so I'm back to basics this week, chicken breast for most meals because it fills me up and I only leave some space for a few pieces of tomatoe and lettuce ,for Breakfast 1 piece of wholemeal toast with organic no added sugar Peanut Butter before I go to the gym. I am doing loads of exercise though so I hope the scale starts moving again

Hi Shontel, I was looking at your pics and you look fab! Were those taken after your boobjob, because in the photos they look fantastic!

The surgery is technically very simpler, much simpler thaN ANY TYPE OF GASTRIC BYPASS OR OTHER GASTROintestinal surgeries, so I suposse if he's an experienced surgeon you should be fine, good luck in you choice

My baby was 9 months old when I had my op, my mum came over but she can't lift heavy things either, so I still had to lift the baby once in a while, I wouldn't recommend you do the same but everything was fine. To be honest the recuperation is so fast if you don't have any complications, after 3 days postop I was feeling OK, after a week I was near normal, after 2 weeks I was 100%, my baby was baptised when I was 2 weeks out and I managed to sort things out. Good luck to you!

Yep, I did the same nesting , just like when I was about to give birth! I agree with Tiff, make up, moisturiser, perfume, take things that will make you feel and smell nice! I also had a manicure and pedicure before going into hospital just like I did before giving birth, as well as waxing my waxable bits, call me weird but hey!
