    I'm hungry!

I agree with all the above, about your body going into starvation mode ( I did a lot of research on body going into starvation mode a few years ago, I could dig out the research articles if anybody's interested) about adding more lean protein, the other thing to consider is that the "fat" you are losing is turning into muscle with your workouts, so according to the scales you are not losing. If you measured your total body fat before the surgery and now, I'm sure you will have a less % of total body fat. Keep up the good work!
  2. Thanks globetrotter, I didn't any of the other ones but i loved fatsecret, really easy to use!

    Favorite Transition Foods

sorry: 1 teaspoon self rise flour,in the oven for 10-165 min, calorie and protein count is per 1/4 of the souffle

    Favorite Transition Foods

I made a yumy breakfast today and I'd like to share it with you-Spinich and cottage cheese soufle: Beat 2 eggs, mix in about 100 gr low fat cottage cheese, a cup of frozen spinach (just cause i found it in the freezer today), i teaspoon of self rise flour, salt, pepper, nutmeg, and I topped it with 20 grs of grated low fat cheese. I was able to eat about 1/4 of the souffle (my daughters loved it as well) so I came up with roughly: 100 calories, 10 grs protein, 3 gr fat and 1.5 gr carb.
  5. I knew that pizza would be one of the things I would miss, so I am hoping that in a few months I will be able to. I am craving the homemade pizza that we usually make on a saturday night with a lot of vegetables and mozzarella cheese! Saturday nights aren't the same anymore I have to admit :001_smile:
  6. I'm 4 weeks out too and am a bit worried as well that I will stall cause I'm eating more now (haven't weighed myself in 2 weeks). I find low fat foods like fish (which is protein) goes down well, lentils cooked till they are really soft with vegetables like tomatoes, butternut squash. I still have a protein shake once a day, to keep up my proteins, but as BBJuice says your body does need fat to function, and at some point we do have to eat normally. I never thought of melon and watermelon I will give those a try, good luck!
  7. Well done Dansha, keep up the good work!!!!!!
  8. I only take mine once a day (usually in the morning)sometimes I forget though and take it at any time, and some days forget to take it all together and I'm still ok
  9. I agree with pumpkin, if you really don't have your heart and soul into this maybe you should just get your band removed and heal and then see what happens.
  10. I can relate to all of this as well, thank God my dad was the one who told me about the sleeve, so him and my mum were a great support, as well as muy husband (and they are surgeons as well so they actually read a lot about the sleeve) I only told my 2 best friends here in the UK, and they didn't try to talk me out of it, they knew I would still go ahead with it! I too tried doing it the proper way about a thousand times, only to loose weight and then when the diet finished put on more and more. I even had the gastric balloon in a few years ago, I lost quite a bit but as usual put it all back on and some more! I'm glad I did this, even though I know that there are a few issues I have to address (snacking), but I'm happy with what I've lost so far. Good luck to you all!

    Don't want to eat!!!

I felt that way until today, for some reason I really feel like eating, i think it's just head hunger though, i've been snacking during the day, thank God that with a little bit of chicken or one rice cake i fill up. I think I'm starting to mourn food, so I can't wait to be able to get back to the gym to start seeing more results! Good luck to you!

anything that my doc didn't mention?

Heparin is used as a blood thinner, in VSG as in most other surgeries as a blood thinner to reduce the risk of deep vein thrombosis, that's why getting up and walking ASAP after surgery is important as well.
  13. I was just wondering how people are managing to cook for the rest of the family when you've been sleeved? I am 3 and a half weeks out, and as a stay at home mum/wife do all the cooking. I find that when I've finished cooking I'm already full, just with trying and tasting in what i think are tiny proportions. I used to taste loads while cooking and then eat with the family, I guess that's one of the reasons I put on so much weight! Any thoughts, advice or experiences with this???

    Cooking with your sleeve

God I am struggling today, have been grazing all day, I wish I could leave it to my husband and children to sort themselves out but my husband comes home really late from work and the girls are too little to cook for themselves! I'm gonna have to make some drastic changes, or else I'm not gonna the the weight I was expecting. I lost mor weight than it says on my ticker, haven't weighed myself though so it's not updated. Sighhhhhhhh
  15. Praying for you all the way from England!
  16. Carrie I am sure everything will be OK for you but you MUST go in to surgery with a very positive attitude, that will make any pain more bearable and any complications less likely! I had 3 C-sections, and after my sleeve came back home to be a full time mum of 3 (including a 9 month baby), wife cook, etc. I was in pain after the operation, but to be honest you forget all about the pain after a few days, I expect in the kind of way labour pain is forgotten once you have your beautiful baby in your arms!.Good luck in any desicion you make, but remember, be positive!

What the heck is this now?

i feel the same sometimes and tommorrow it's only 4 weeks since i went in for my sleeve. I had and urge for tortilla chips today (leftover from my baby's christening party) I had about a handful, no dips or anything, chewed them reall well, didn't feel sick afterwards but couldn't have any more than 3 or 4. At least I got over the craving, and it was only about 40 calories. I don't recommend doing this all the time though cause it could mess up w weight loss. It's just that I know that if you depriveyourself from something at some point you're bound to binge on it! But if you feel well enough i would go for the picke, just chew thoroughly before swallowing it!
  18. Hi bonbon, i think thats a bit strange, i've been an overeater all my life as well, tried all sorts of diets, even had a gastric balloon in a few years ago (i lost a bit but then i put on even more weight) and the sleeve is working wonders, for my hunger (don't get me wrong i do get hungry but after some soup or a a rice cake i'm full), and physically cause i simply can't get more than a few ounces of food in (that for me was the whole idea of the sleeve in the first place!) I would ring the surgeon just to make sure everything is in place. Good luck for you!
  19. I'm sorry you had complications, but at least they found out what was happening straight away and sorted out the leak. I'm sure you'll be fine now, just look after yourself a lot. I was in pain after my surgery, more than i had ever expected. I'm ussually really good with pain, had 3 C-sections and even those weren't as painful as my sleeve! So I can only imagine the pain if they had to go in twice! Don't worry about the weight loss for the time being, i was about 5 lbs heavier 3 days after surgery, it's just all the fluids and the general edema after surgery. Look after yourself and do exactly what the doctors tell you to do, that would be my advice. Good luck!

  21. just found these messages, so glad i found this place to discuss my sleeve as hubby and friends are probably sick of me going on about it! thanks tiffy for adding me your pics are amazing! i said somewhere before it feels a bit lonely here in England, not many sleeved people yet, so great to be able to share with you guys!

  22. Hi Tiffykins, I've been sleeved on the 29th of july in the UK. Lost around 22 pounds (haven't weighed myself last weeks because I didn't want to loose faith- I read a lot of people stall at this stage) I still have around 40 pounds to go (20 kilos). I've been reading youyr posts and I'm amazed at the amount of research you've done for this, and I thought I'd done loads! I'd love to see your photos but can't for some reason, I'm quite new here, can't even put up mu profile picture yet. Are you on facebook by any chance. Well, good luck to you, I believe you've lost more than what you had planned, how does that feel, amazing I suposse!!

i think I might cahange my mind

Hi, I live in Engand and got the sleeve and not the band because the band is very high maintanance. I'm happy with my desicion, and even though it hasn't been a month yet I think I'm making good progress. I've been told that the initial weight loss with the sleeve is much greater than with the band, because with the sleeve the restriction starts straight away. Good luck in whatever you choose to do!
  24. I used to love mashed potatoes, now I hate the stuff!!!

how do you see fat people now?

I have only lost about 22 lbs and have about 30 to go, and I feel like running up to fat people to tell them about this wonderful op and that they CAN loose weight, but of course I just mind my own business as people above were saying. Today was my 1st real challenge, we went to the seaside and hubby and the children had fish and chips, a MUST when we go to the beach, and I just sat there having a minestrone soup  I am proud of myself though, and I just hope I can keep up with this behaviour until i reach my target weight!
