Coops at last i can put a face to the name, you are very pretty! I did do a 2 week preop diet, mainly to reduce the size of the iver to make the procedure a bit easier. I was on yoghurts, fruit, milk coffee tea and that was about it. Having said that only lost a couple of pounds even though I starved to death, now I'm hardly even hungry! -

I got it done privately, my BMI wasn't that high and I would have to wait ages(more than a year, my GP did refere me though but even to see the consultant i would have to wait months), so we went self-pay (i say we cause hubby is the one paying). I've been on Xenical, and any other drugs available, lost a bit and then went right up and more. It is very emotional but worth it in the end. What is druthers?? -
Sorry for butting in, I live in the UK, got sleeved 7 weeks agohere, but was born and lived in Pittsburgh PA(Upper St Clair) til I was 9 years old. I'm 41 now, have been living in Paraguay South America and for the last 10 years in England. Just thought I would say hello to you and wish you good luck in your journey! Rose Marie

Good luck to you, I'm sorry you don't have the support of your wife. You should explain that 1) This is NOT an easy way out, it takes a lot of strenghth and will power and "balls" to do this and 2) You NEED to do this for the sake of your health, while she might be a bit overweight (is she?) your obesity will lead you to an early grave if you don't do something about it now, she wouldn't want that, I know I wouldn't. The best of luck, you will be in my prayers.

Hi I'm in the UK! Got sleeved nearly 7 weeks ago and I highly recommend it. Where and when are you planning to get sleeved? -
I had real bad back pain, my muscles kind of wwent into spasm as well, my husband who's a doctor said it was because I was standing in a "weird" position because of my incisions. I took just the painkillers I was given at hospital as well, had trouble sleeping, I also had very bad pain between my shoulder blades because of the laparoscopic gas they use during surgery that affects nerves in that area (again explained by my surgeon hubby!) My pain wasn't as bad as yours seems to be, it lasted for a couple of weeks. If you don't get any better I would ring your suergeon just in case, hope you get better soon!

Well done, you look great!

OMG Globetrotter, I admire you, you are very brave in many ways! I'm 7 weeks out and have been eating cooked veggies for a while: brocoli, cauliflower, carrots, peas. I just make sure I chew really well and never have any issues, sometime I'll have a few tiny sips of water to get it down, even though I take vitamin supplements I wouldn't want to have some kind of deficiency that would affect my health, and even more so in you case.

My own "What have I done?" moment has come.. please help
chilo1 replied to TwoStepsBack's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with every single thing you're saying! I'm 41, have been on a diet since I was 9, yes 9 yrs old! Scientific evidence show us that diets do not work, and from my own experience I know they don't, only temporarily and then most people put on all the weight and more! I feel very proud of my self and of all you guys who have gone/are going through the same as me. I have 3 lovely girls, 12yrs, 10yrs and 10 months and a lovely husband who supports me and I thank God for that! Best luck to all of you, all those feelings are normal, I think every morning I wake up I can only get better and move forwards in every aspect of my life, and I'm loving it:001_wub: -
Nausea heighten by smells
chilo1 replied to ncbludvl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The same happened with my taste, smells don't make me nauseous though. My hubby even said surgery changed my taste sense, before I used to love sweet stuff(biscuits, chocolate)now I find most things too sweet! -
Sweet taste in my mouth?
chilo1 replied to mp8btpc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been having a soury taste in my mouth, I guess it's acid, I dont take PPI's any more, 7 weeks out, but it doesn't really bother me (the starnge taste) and since I stopped taking them I'm hardly hungry anymore! Will ask my surgeon on thursday if i still need tto take them cause i ran out -

Despondent over apparent gain, please help
chilo1 replied to Globetrotter's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think i'm a slow loser but to be quite honest i'm fine with, iim still on 800-900 cal, getting enough proteins, getting in veg and some fruit, and some days too much carbs (need to work at that) Bowels since surgery a mess, very lazy, i'm still waiting for that lovely diarrhea that people talk about, never happened in 7 weeks though! -
That's brilliant, you'll be there in no time!
-
sorry 2 stone is 25,4 pounds
-
Coops fatsecret.com is really easy to use and gives you a good general idea of what you're eating. I don't obsess about it though, I just want to get roughly about 900 cal in a day and round 50 gr proteins. It may sound weird but I don't mind not losing that quickley because of the hair loss, saggy skin and all that, I'm fine losing at a slower pace but keeping it off for good this time! I lost large amounts of weight very quickley in the past only to put it all back on and then some (a stone or 2 more!) For those of you who aren't familiar with "stone" it's a measurement used for bodyweight in the UK 2 stone is about 28 pounds`

Remind me of why I shouldn't get on the scale
chilo1 replied to Lisalu's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Dave you always write lovely things on this forum, if you get bored when you get near to goal you should write a book! Lisalu I agree with all he's saying, good luck with you new you! -
Coops, I do the same about my weight, make jokes and make people laugh about my weight. I think I'm gonna be a slow loser as well, haven't lost much in the last couple of weeks, but am intending to take it as it comes, try my best, I started exercising, and I too am feeling just relaxed about everything. It's best not to compare ourselves with others, we all lose at our own pace, let see what our fellow sleevers have to say, and the ones who have been sleeved for a while.

to tell or not to tell ????? yes or no
chilo1 replied to sel1944's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only told my family and a few very close friends. I still avoid going out with people who don't know for meals and stuff, but I know that now I can eat bits I'm going to start going out a bit more again, and as Peatie said just telling people I'm on a supervised diet. If you don't feel comfortable don't tell.
