I lost 28 pounds in 7 weeks and am over the moon about it!! A total since preop diet of 37 pounds, nearly halfway there! So I thinks thats good!
-
I too had/have big issues in controling my eatiing when i'm stressed, upset. The good thing with the band (i'm only 7 weeks out) is that you can't do it! I will feel like eating still in these situations but it's getting better, cause i know that after putting 1 piece of cheese in my mouth I'm stuffed! Gonna have to find something else for these situations!

Congratulations, look after yourself, you'll do great! -
Tiffy, an honest question, not to offend you, don't know if it was raised before but, why do you smoke?? You just seem so health aware that you don't seem like the smoking type. Maybe you had to turn to something that wasn't food or did you smoke before weightloss? Just asking cause I know I have an addictive personality, and I'm not too sure yet what it's gonna be like out in the "real" world, as I'm only 7 weeks out, when I start socializing again. Am I gonna drink loads maybe? I hope not, because among other things drinking helped pile on the weight in the last 10 years. In a way I "know" I'm going to have to turn to something, I'm trying to make it exercise, let's hope, I know it won't be smoking though cause I tried to smoke so many times thinking it might make me lose weight but just makes me nauseous.

Almost 3 Months out - Switched to Atkins
chilo1 replied to Morgandobes's topic in Food and Nutrition
I feel great even though I am eating too many carbs, I'm losing very slowly though, I'm dreading my weigh in today. I might give Atkins a try, a change is always good, a shock to the system and more weight loss apparently! -
I started taking my sertraline again as soon as I could sip some water, no probs whatsoever!

oats if you're allowed, or some high fibre cereal like weetabix w milk

I eat around 900 cal a day, but I'm on the go all day long with 3 children (a 10 month baby included) and I work out 3-4 times a week, I feel quite comfortable with this amount of calories, the days that I eat less I feel like I'm gonna faint any minute, I'm 7 weeks out losing slowly but happy with my loss!

i'd like to hear from the smaller sleeve patients out there
chilo1 replied to selvester420's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a BMI of 36.1 and had a really speedy recovery. I don't work but I have 3 children (including 10 month old baby) and after a week I was feeling really well, out and about. I would take it easy though, for about 2 weeks, depending on what type of job you have. -
My mouth is watering as I read, I'm gonna have to look for those!

voice issues after surgery?
chilo1 replied to 6kiddos's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some people can get sore throats for a few days after surgery because of the tube that they put down the throat, I had no issues, not that I sing but i do talk a lot! Good luck! -
10 more days til Surgery!!! HELP!
chilo1 replied to sleeveorbust's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All Tiffy said plus: loose, comfy underwear, make up (tinted moisturizer and lipbalm/gloss)and toiletries, a nice refreshing perfume or cologne, make up wipes to refresh your face the first couple of hours. Good luck! -
Cristabel, I can completely relate to that behaviour and those feelings. I did seek professional help years before surgery, which helped a lot, but didn't stop me from stuffing my face when I was really anxious/upset ! This morning I was REALLY angry, an issue with my daughter who is only 12 and going through hormonal stuff anyway, in the past, I would have gone for a coffee and fatening junk w my friend, instead I went to the gym had half a bowl of porridge and then went for a 60 min work out, i couldn't believe it and felt good after! If you have the time try exercising!

How did I miss this thread! Congratulations on your weight loss Will, I'm jealous nearly 7 weeks out and lost a bit less than you, but I know men lose quicker than woman, my husband's losing weight and I'm the one with the sleeve! Just had to mention I LOVE GAY Guys, you're the best, my best friend is gay and I love him to bits! Good luck on the rest of your journey. -

Good luck to you, I'm sure you'll LOVE your sleeve!

When I was researching WLS and then went to my surgeon, apart from the high maintanace of the band the "good" thing was that it was reversible and the sleeve wasn't, or isn't shall I say. When I asked him why would I ever want to reverse my stomach back when it made my life a misery all these years? He just shrugged, I said worse case scenario, if I lose too much weight (which I doubt very much) I'll just add more fats and carbs (as oregondaisy said) and a nice milkshake a day! I am SO happy with my sleeve, so please do your research!!

I'm not even halfway to my goal and I am happier already! I feel healthier, I have more energy, I'm looking forward to going out to be able to wear nice clothes...I know it won't solve all my/our issues, and as you said GB it won't bring world peace, but it sure does make life easier!!

Top 10 reasons to have VSG surgery

being able to put on a pair of jeans and t-shirt to go out to the supermarket or pick the kids up from school and look all right!!!! -
I don't think it's about messing up the sleeve, but supossedly if you drink the food will go past the sleeve faster and you'll be able to get more food in and hence not lose th weight as quick, if that makes any sense. I still drink a few tiny sips sometimes while i'm eating, and I do hope I'm not messing my sleeve. I'm seeing my surgeon on thursday so I'll ask him
