My dad's visiting from South America today, haven't seen in in a year and 7 months when I was 44 pounds heavier, he knows I've had the sleeve, he's the one who's suggested it, he's seen me on webcam after losing the weight, but I'm still a bit nervous of his reaction, I have that funny butterflies in my tummy feeling!

Great news, congratulations!! I'm expecting to get to a BMI of 29 any day now, so I'll be overweight and not obese anymore!

I'm 11 weeks out now and I've felt the same way for the first month or so, I once even had tears in my eyes cause I wasn't even hungry but i missed my best friend, FOOD. I thought it wouldn't go away but it has and I don't miss food at all, cause I can enjoy food again, and still lose weight, loving it

Go on 800, that was obviously working for you!!

How do I get in 1000-1200 Calories?
chilo1 replied to sickofrollercoaster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Spot on BBJuice, I couldn't agree more, that's exactly what I'm doing (and around 900-1000 cal) exercising and the weight is coming off, a balanced diet is the key! -
I eat around 60 -90 grs of carbs a day, my nut said it's fine and the weight is coming off

Food Servers seemed annoyed
chilo1 replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today I went for breakfast to a cafe with a friend, had a bowl of natural yogurt with granola and some fresh berries on the top. Ate half of it then asked the waitress to take it away because or else I find myself eating when I'm already full, (my friend was still eating) The waitress looked so upset, she said do you maybe want some milk on top? She thought I didn't like it. I just said no I'm watching my weight and if it's on the table I'll just pick at it! She just smiled -
All I can say is that I don't know if I could of survived without this forum, when you realise it's not just YOU have whatever issue/problem it makes things a bit easier!

Even though i did get support from my husband I know that deep down he wasn't sure it would work. He's seen me go through all sorts of diets to just put the weight back on, I've even had a gastric balloon in and gained all the weight back and more. The truth is, if you haven't had serious weight issues you cannot completely understand what it's like. I can understand your daughter saying WHEN you've put the weight back on, that's what my girls have seen me do as well, lose weight and then put it all back on. Needless to say my family are amazed now with my results, and I'm only halfway to goal. My mum and dad were very supportive, they know I've struggled with my weight my whole life (I'm 41 now). The advice my mum gave me was spot on, just don't say anything, do what you've got to do and they will see for themselves, so I say the same to you! All the best, you won't regret it

I've certainly had dreams with food pre-op and even the first couple of post op weeks, thank God they stopped! One dream I can remember is eating a yummy healthy sanwich, brown bread avocado etc. The good thing w this op is that eventually you will be able to eat all the things you love but in much smaller anounts!

1 1) I want to be around for a long time for my children and hubby 2)I want to outlive my parents, they would be devastated if I had a stroke or something that could by avoided by losing weight 2)I want my husband to "fancy" me again (I know/think? he loves me regardless) 3)I want to feel pretty again 4)I want to be able to shop for clothes that I actually like and not just buy whatever fits me and covers me up (I've already started doing this!) 5)I love being able to cross my legs again in a ladylike way 6)Very vain, i know, but I like people who haven't seen me in a while saying "Rose Marie you're looking really well!" 7)I want to, and already started having more energy and even enjoying exercise more now! 8)I can't wait to start buying sexy underwear again! 9) I want to look forward to having to dress up for going out instead of dreading it 10)I want to feel at peace with myself, and look on the outside like I feel on the inside.

Praying for you, I'm I'm sure you will be fine. Complications are not common but they happen, the good thing is that it was spotted on time and they're doing something about it , be strong

You're not in the UK are you??

Hi there, I had my surgery here in England 10 weeks ago. When I started the whole process I weighed 102 kilos. Now I'm down to 81 kilos, around 8 kilos lost gradually in 3 months before suregery. I do have excess skin now, especially round my tummy and bingo wings, but it's notTHAT bad at least yet! There's not much to do about it, i would just recomMend to start a healthy lower calorie diet and exercise now,to lose a bit before surgery, so the weight loss is a bit more gradual. Are you having your surgery on the NHS? Good luck in your journey

18lbs gone FOREVER! 2 weeks out!!!
chilo1 replied to sleeveorbust's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Well done, isn't it a fantastic feeling?!!!I too got myself mentaly prepared for a stall thanks to everything I'd been reading on this wonderful forum, and it hepled so much, because round week 3-4 when i realised i wasn't losing I just didn't weigh myself for a couple of weeks and just continued to do as my Dr indicated. I know I had a stall but basically ignored it, thank God I started losing again and now even before my 3 month suriversary I'm a bit more than halfway to goal! -
What is your "absolutely not" food?
chilo1 replied to TankGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 10 weeks out and can eat literally anythink, in very small amounts. Went to my nutritionist yesterday and she said that was the idea of the surgery, being able to eat a normal balanced diet but in less amounts, with the odd treat/junk,in tiny amounts, but every body/stomach reacts differently. I obviously have a very resistant stomach -
I would say do a couple of days round 600 and then a couple round 800 and continue doing that, your losing steadily so your doing smthng right i guess

I went to see my nut today, I've lost 8.8 pounds in 3 weeks, which is really good for me, she said. She also said I should continue on 900-1000 cal/day, and have a balanced diet including all the food groups. She didin't mind that my carbs are quite high, 60 and sometimes 90 (once even 100!!) as long as I'm still eating protein, similar to what Julie's nut said. I intend to continue doing the same till i reach near goal. In total I've lost 46 pounds, including pre-op diet, and I couldn't be happier. I agree that shocking the body (some days doing lower calories) helps with weight loss for some reason.

Love the link, very useful, thanks for sharing! GT I can't believe you nut ignored what you are saying, can you not find another one??

I graze but i still track every single calorie of what I've been snacking on. My Dr told me not to graze or snack, but if i don't i just don't eat enough. I did go over the limit for a few days but I am back on track, just grazing on chicken ,the ocassional piece of fruit or cheese.

Just a little encouragement
chilo1 replied to Tiffykins's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thanks Tiff, we have to believe in ourselves! Today I was feeling a bit overwhelmed, hubby and children ill, I tried on a pair of black pants that I used to wear preop everytime i neede to dress up. I fit my 10 month old baby in the space between me and the waist of my pants! I need to take a pic cause it was so cute and it felt great! -
As a southamerican myself (as well as my hubby), i totally understand how you feel, and the mentality your husband probably has, macho man The thing is you have to do this for yourself, it's very difficult for someone who has never been fat to understand the ins and outs and the complicated issues that we go through. My husband did support me (he paid for it!) But a few years ago I went to a therapist about my obesity and my feelings, and my husband went to one of the app w me. Th Dr explained that I wasn't fat because I wanted to, that there isn't one only reason for a person being fat, I think he kind of understood it then. Now he is AMAZED of my control, lack of hunger and weight loss, so it was all worth it, and I'm only halfway there

I'm glad I've had my tubes tied when I had my "last" baby

Inspirational Video
chilo1 replied to BZButterfly79's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Really inspirational and a good explanation of surgery, what to expect and what we can accomplish, very down to earth, love it! I too am thankful even though I'm only halfway there!
