Need to get serious about exercise, AGAIN.
chilo1 replied to Tiffykins's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Hey! 1 1/2 hours cardio at the gym today, yesterday couldn't go so I shoveled snow for 20 min and then pulled my 12 year old daughter in the sledge running in the snow for 1/2 hour, that should count for something i guess!! -
Love the recipes, and they do sound yummy (and I'm not hungry-just ate) and different and good for party season! I'll definetly be trying them that apple and cream cheese dip thing sounds delish!!, Thanks for sharing with us:P

I find that at this stage 900-1000 cal does it for me, prob in a few months time (4 months out now) I will go to around 1200-1400
-
Well done!!!
-
I'm 4 months out and can easily have 1000-1200 cal/day. My nut is fine with this and I am losing weight , even though I slowed down. My carbs are high compared to people on this forum, but i try to have days where I eat lower calories/carbs higher Proteins, which shakes up my system a bit to continue losing at least a bit of weight. I think you have to do what works for you if your surgeon/nutritionist agree. You seem to be losing weight fine, but in time you'll be able to up your calories
-
Obviously that's to MAINTAIN the weight you have, and less1000 calories to lose weight in a normal situation, not after the operation(not a normal diet situation)
-
Well done,!! It's so hard for me , so much temptation at the supermarket!!

http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/harris-benedict-equation/calorie-intake-to-lose-weight.php Basically the formula for women is: Basal Metabolic Rate: 655+(4.3x weight in pounds)+(4.7x height in inches)-(4.7 x age) Times this result by 1.55 (fro moderate activity) this will give you your recommended daily amount of calories) Recommended daily calories minus 500 (to lose a pound a week) to 1000 (to lose 2 pouinds a week) This gives you the amount of calories you should be having a day to lose weight-hope this helps

Well I'm 167 pounds now and my height is 5 4 requirements to maintain this weight is around 2300 cal and to lose weight I should have up to 1000 cal less then my daily requirement, which is about 1300. Supposedly less then 1400 cal isn't recommended, but obviously our situation (having had the op) is different. There'sa formula that calculates your required calorie intake according to weight height age and level of activity. Oh and I'm 41:P

Body image changes after WLS
chilo1 replied to BlackBerryJuice's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 4 months out and my goal has changed, but for a higher BMI. As i lose weight i realise that my body shape has changed, I'm 41 now and in my head i had the image of me getting my body of 15 years ago back. I don't want to be too skinny, I don't think it looks nice at my age so I think that with a few more pounds and a tummy tuck I will have reached my higher goal and be happy with what I've achueved -
i get much colder now that i've lost weight, my husband going mad cause i put the heating up and he gets really hot!
-
I know that for my build, a diet of 1200-1400 cal/day plus exercise is recommended to lose weight
-
1000 calories is fine and yes exercising at least 3 times a week helps. I have been doing around 1000 calories but haven't been exercising (started again on friday) and lost 1 kilo, 2.2 pounds after a 3 week stall, which isn't very much but at least I haven't put on weight, had people visiting from South America so my eating hasn't been what it should've been I would recommend not to weigh very often, because fluctuations are so unpredictible, bloatness, water retention, lack of bowel movements, etc

OMG Julie, I hadn't seen this before, or else I would have given you some words of support. I'm kind of in that situation now, and even though it's been 10 years since we moved to England, I still miss Paraguay and my family and especially round Christmas time. Your post brought tears to my eyes, I'm supossing it was all OK in the end? Here it's snowing, I'm not going to Paraguay for christmas, and as you say I can not eat "over" it. I miss the hot sticky weather near christmas, i miss the smell of flor de coco that blossoms at my window every year near christmas, i miss my family and friends, i miss the messy traffic, but most of all i miss the blue skies, and the yellow lapachos which are probably starting to blossom! Oh well, i guess i'm just having a bad case of winter blues. Hope all is well for you, isee you ar losing steadily so well done! Give Asuncion a big hug from me!

Need to get serious about exercise, AGAIN.
chilo1 replied to Tiffykins's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Just back from gym,50 mins! If it weren't for this thread I would've probably has just sat at home nursing a cup of hot chocolate and watching the snow fall! For tomorrow a bit of weight lifting! -
Please talk some sense into me...
chilo1 replied to coops's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love Tiff's comparison, Hare and tortoise and I think it's very true. I'm a slow loser, but as I always say it's self inflicted. I eat 900-1000 cal a day and high carbs(my nut approves of this BTW). I havent lost anything in 3 weeks, but then again I don't weigh myself verfy often. I noticed that you haven't been updating you food diary, I had stopped but started again a few days ago. Has the snow got to you yet?? We have loads, my exercise for the last few days has been shovelling snow and playing out with the girls! DO NOT GIVE UP!!!! -
I did worry about this at some point but I don't anymore, as my weight loss has slowed down because I'm eating near 1000 cal a day. I would suggest you eat more high calorie foods that aren't that "heavy" on you tummy, like fruit smoothies add a bit of ice cream (sorbet), full fat milk as tiiffy suggested, and little higher calorie Snacks, like granola bars, avocado (again as Tiff suggested) have you ever tried avocado withbrown sugar or honey and lemon, makes a really nice sweet treat. Rice pudding with full fat milk and a bit of cream and cinammon also makes a nice little treat. In the past I've helped patients who struggled with keeping their weight up so feel free to ask for any other suggestions, will keep you in my prayers

Globetrotter you should get your thyroids tested, if your thyroids aren't working as they should that could slow down your weight loss big time
-
I tried the medium ones but realised that with the modest(smaller)implants the boobs look perkier, I'm definetly having tummy tuck and at least small boob implants in a years time in Paraguay, can't wait!!! Great link!

Need to get serious about exercise, AGAIN.
chilo1 replied to Tiffykins's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I'm in too! It's sooooo hard getting back into the exercise routine, I've had a month break, my dad was visiting from South America and then my inlaws, but for me any excuse is valid. Before that I'd been going to the gym 4 to 5 times a week. On friday I started again did 1 hour step classs and 1 hour zumba, which was fun! I'm planning to mix cardio with a bit of weights to tone up tummy area and arms especially, good luck for all of us! -
Awwwwwww I love it!!

Does VSG curb carb cravings!
chilo1 replied to IB150's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm nearly 4 months out, at first the I had no cravings for carbs (or anything else really) for the last month or so I do have the ocassional carb craving, the good thing is that with 2 weight watcher's cookies or a reeses snack (100 cal) the craving goes away and I still lose weight! -
I take benefiber and when that doesn't work my Dr said I could take other laxatives, like senoket. I suffer from really bad constipation now, and it's not nice at all! I think that other pain that went to you're back could be something else, do you still have a gallbladder? I would get checked just in case. Good luck!
