I was weighed at the hospital pre and post op (I gained about 4 pounds IV fluids, edema, etc) After that I waited 2 weeks to weigh and I had lost around 10 pounds from pre-op weight! BM were really hard with me, pun intended. After about a week I had the urge to go and it was so hard it got stuck TMI i know, so i had to remove it with gloves and glyceryn supositories, just telling you this so you make sure you get in enough fluids and bebfiber if your doctro allows you!

Thanks Tiff, the pics do actually help cause I can see the process, and it's stupid of me really cause I knew/know perfectly well the facts, and thayt there is nothing you can do to prevent it. My hair pre-op was like your hair was when you say you can see your scalp, now i don't want to take pictures even! But to be honest, i'd rather have hardly any hair than being as fat as I used to be, even though I haven't reached goal yet! Thanks for sharing your pics

I guess that even when we know it's gonna happen and that it is gonna regrow it's still scary, especially when you have such thin and little amount of hair to start with like I do, and as human beings we worry and try to find a cause and a way of preventing it

Am I really doing this? So scared...
chilo1 replied to steph025's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't be scared you'll be fine ,honestly. I got the numbing anaesthetic cream for my IV, but to be quite honest it doesn't hurt that much anyway (3 c- sections, ,boob job, nose job, gastric balloon in the past) I agree with Tiff though ask for Valium or anything they can offer to calm you down before going into surgery, it helps a lot. Positive thinking and attitude is very important as far as pain and recuperation goes, so relax, everything will be fine and you will absolutely love your sleeve, good luck! -
Body image changes after WLS
chilo1 replied to BlackBerryJuice's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I haven't even reached goal yet and a few people have already called me skinny, which I love!! The other day my neighbour, (who is a quite "fit" around 60 yr old grandad) said hey skinny winny, I didn't even look at him as I never dreamnt he was referring to me. Then he said yes, I'm talking to you, you've lost loads of weight, well done (he doesn't know I had surgery of course) As for plastic surgery all i can say is go for it, just do your research (no doubt you will). I'm definetely going for a tummy tuck and small boob implants (funny as a few years ago I had to have a boob reduction because my glands were proliferating as well as having huge dangly boobs) -
I've had a few major surgeries in my life and never had hair loss. I did have hair loss once when I was doing my masters dissertation and had 2 small kids and was stressed like never before, I also started piling on the pounds at that time. I believe the quick weight loss also contributess to the hair loss, at least that's what my surgeon and Nut said. Are you shedding any hair??

Same brown hair, short with a few grays and I get it highlighted blond religously every 2 1/2 to 3 months. I already got it highlighted once since surgery, when I was 2 months out. I'm still going to have to get it done, the roots are starting to grow, but this time I'm going to wait 3-4 months in between if i can

What the heck just happend to me?
chilo1 replied to lolli's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same happened to me when i put peanut once in a shake, never tried it again, having said that have been fine with peanut butter ever since, never tried it in a shake again! I think it might be like a dunping reaction:huh: -
Prepare one packet og sugar free jell(jelly for us in UK), put in blender when cooled down with 150 grs of cream cheese. Put some frozen berries (i put frozen blueberries and strawberries) in a bowl and pour mixture on top. Put in fridge for a few hours to set. Has about 300 cal (the whole thing) and about 10 grs of proteins and 10 grs of carbs, nice especially in the summer!

Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll
chilo1 replied to vickie6866's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was allowed alcohol (1 drink once in a while) after 2 months. I used to be a party girl myself, the first time I went out after surgery i managed 2 cocktails (cosmos I think) and I'll have a drink every now and again, mostly diet coke with rum or vodka (lower calories) but as Julie said beware, because they are empty calories! I completely lost mu taste for wine (red, white even rose which I used to love!) I do hope i get to love my wine again! -
When does the stitch line completely Heal?
chilo1 replied to Big_Mike's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I drink diet coke once in a while, when I go out with a bit of vodka or Malibu, or sometimeson it;s own when i just feel like it, especially now that I'm nearly 4 and a half months out. I do let it go quite flat though, just in case. I love those illustations Tiff, especially the 1st one, wher we can see perfectly well how reducing the size of the liver can make surgery a little bit easier by making the stomach more accesible, thanks for sharing! -
Frustrated - need some cheerleaders
chilo1 replied to Eureka-C's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think your calorie intake is too low somedays, I've been looking at yuor diet journal in myfatsecret.com. Also I wouldn't recommend weighing everyday, are you peeing all right? I had constipation (and still do), that will settle with time, plus if your not eating anything yet there's not too much to get rid of! Try and cheer up, you'll see that everything will start making sense and settling down -
Hair finally growing back in, but with a catch...
chilo1 replied to TexasT's topic in The Gals' Room
I don't mind what colour or type of hair I get as long as it comes back! I have very thin hair and it's falling out quite a bit, especially when I wash it, I am a slow loser so I guess it could've been worse! Great for those of you who are getting it back! -

The good thing about being a slow loser
chilo1 replied to coops's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well as you already said, giving time for skin to adjust, I'm not exercising that much but my bingo wings aren't as bad as I first thought they would be, and my face is still OK, I don't look like someone who lost loads of weight drastically (everbody compliments me on my face, those who know as well as those who don't) So as far as I'm concerned, it's all good (Like you coops, trying to see the glass half full rather than half empty:D ) -
Are there any SIZE Goal sleevers out there?
chilo1 replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have a goal size more than weight actually, I'm down from a size 18-20 (uk) to a size 14 UK, my goal initially is a size 12 (which a thinkk is an 8-10 US) So size-wise I'm nearly there!! -
Calories are the little monsters who get into your wardrobe at night and sew your clothes tighter while you're asleep. My wardrobe is infested with them.

My HUSBAND told me to ask YOU!!
chilo1 replied to hopeandfaith's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my inlaws visiting for 10 days and they don't know i've had the op. I just said I was on a diet (as i have all my life anyways) and was just really busy sorting them out serving food etc that i think they realised that I wasn't eating much but they didn't make a big deal of it! -
I'm so sorry this is happening, be strong and look after yourself, at the moemnt that's what you need to concentrate on, big hug!
-
I'm glad you're going to try doing near 1000 cal, that might shake things up. That formula that I mentioned in some other thread about your Basic Metabolic Rate minus 500 or 1000 cal to lose 1 or 2 pounds per week is supposedly for normal people on diets not post surgery, for us it's different because of the size of our stomach, etc.Plus these things don't always work mathematically as those of us who have had weight problems well know! I was diagnosed with insuline resistance a few years ago, which is a type of "pre-diabetes", it was when I was at one of my highest weights, the endocrinologist gave me a diet (low carbs high proteins) I didn't lose that much weight but most of the symptoms dissappeared, the doctor had said at the time that I might have to go on pills, so that was one of the reasons that I decided to have this surgery. Good luck for the next few days
