With due respect Katt, I'm not talking about people who pig out on holidays and therefore have an eating disorder. I am familiar with this criteria, but having done research and a Masters in Nutrition and Psychological Sciences you will find that in EDNOS, patients who don't meet all the criteria are still categorized as having an eating disorder. I am not saying that all fat people have an eating disorder, but in the same way they are a lot of "normal" weight people who have an eating disorder.

You look, happy, great and healthy, congratulations!

[ Trying to post a picture of what I ate for Christmas lunch(not sure if it will work), a bit of everything,(including a few glasses of sparkling rose) and that night I had the same again and a cupcake

All I can say is that as BBJ clearly said, most obese people have at some point of "our" lives some sort of eating disorder. Overeating, extreme dieting, binge eating, they are all types of eating disorders or "disored eating". I have had an eating disorder my whole life, my parents put me on a diet when I was 9 years old, so I have been on extreme diets and then binge eating for 30 years until 5 months ago, when I got sleeved. I am no longer on a diet, even though I'm a slow loser I'm fine with that, because I know too well the consequences of abstaining from certain desirable foods and the binging on them. My goal is to be able to enjoy food albeit in small quantities, and not starve myself anymore. After 30 years of dieting I can certainly say that diets don't work, and it is a scientific fact. I LOVE my sleeve!

I was told the same but as I am NOT a rule follower after a week or 2 of feeling really tired I started having 1 protein shake a day. Hope yoou're feeling better

Sorry you're feeling like this, I would go to the Doctors and see if your antidepressant needs adjusting. I guess a combination of everything you are experiencing contribute to you feeling depressed, are you getting enough nutrients in and take all your vitamins/ suplements? Hope it gets better

I still get hungry, not as much as presurgery, but i guess sometimes it is just headhunger. The good thing is that I do get full (physically and mentally) when I eat a small amount of something so I do eat small amounts but at least 6 times a day just like the guy of that book recommended. I try not to make a big deal of my hunger, or else I know that it will turn into an obsession as it used to be, so if I'm hungry I eat, a piece of cheese, chicken or some kind of protein

Do you think you could have done this on your own
chilo1 replied to Toyia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

No need for Reconstructive Surgeries
chilo1 replied to dimples509's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I'm 5 months out and I know that I'll definetely need a dermolipectomyas the skin of my tummy is very saggy and wrinkled. As for the rest My arms and legs aren't as bad as I was expecting. But as myturn just said it depends on genetics and a lot of other things like your age. Don't let this put you off surgery though, I don't really mind about my tummy that much but I will eventually get a tummy tuck because I'll feel more comfortable and it's been something that I always said I'd get done if/when I lost all my excess weight -
I heard about getting a temporary band on the sleeve if you haven't lost all the weight or if stomach stretches, I don't know how that would work though, cause after taking the band out you would gain all the weight back? I would go to a BAriatric surgeon with a lot of experience to see what he/she recomends.

Deliberate slow weight loss?
chilo1 replied to Kris's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep I agree with this too the skin on my tummy is a mess even though I've been a slow loser from the begining. Thank God my face is OK, and that I attribute to my slow loss (or I excuse my slow lost shall I say) I moisturise body and face everyday, go to the gym, but my tummy isn't getting any better, I have loads of stretch marks, the surgeon said to wait a year befor getting surgery because some of the skin will bounce back into place, but obviously not all of it. I am so happy that my arms ansd legs aren't as bad as I predicted, but to be honest I am so happy about having lost the weight that my tummy is a small detail in the enormity of things. I have one more month til my 6 month window ends, so I am hoping to be near target by then, I have lowered my target a tiny bit again, just haven't changed it yet! -
Deliberate slow weight loss?
chilo1 replied to Kris's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am doing that, but it is true about that "window" that tijuana plication is talking about. I figured that as I don't have that much more weight to lose I would slow things down a bit, and even though I've never been great at sticking to really low carbs like most people on this forum, I haven'r been so strict on myself in the last week or so and my hair loss is slowing down as well! I still make sure that I get my protein in first, and have been having a few carby treats over these holidays! -
I have 3 girls (one is only a baby) I told my 12 and 10 year old in a very straight forward way, but pretended it was very simple, which technically it is according to my husband who's a surgeon. They didn't make that big a deal of it cause I didn't, 5 months later they love have an almost skinny mummy! I'll be praying for you, you'll love your sleeve

Welcome!! You will love your sleeve and you are making the right desicion, especially having a family history of all those obesity related diseases. I am 41 like you, I have 3 children and have been sleeved nearly 5 months ago. Good luck on your journey, this forum has been a Godsend to me! -
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year (or whatever other people are celebrating) everybody ! First Christmas that my focus will not be on food, and even though I'm doing the cooking on Christmas (just hubby and kids) and for New year for friends coming round I'm already enjoying spending time doing other things w my children, like decorations, watching movies, it's great and I feel fantastic, even though I can't and won't gorge on food and drink this year,I would have never thought that I would be so cool with it! Now i can truely relate to eat to live and not live to eat

I had drinks since when I was a bit more than 2 months out, a bit of white wine, to be honest the best thing for me at least that early out were fruity cocktails, just put a lot of ice in to water them down,or rum and diet coke (I let it go flat first though) you don't want too many empty calories, enjoy!

great feeling!

I love the pic, enjoying life to the fullest! Funny I used to drink red wine can't now, but the other day made red wine sangria (lots of ice, oranges and sweetners) and I enjoyed a glass of that, still loads of calories now that I still have a good few pounds to lose!

I don't feel obese anymore, just "overweight" and maybe that's only because according to my BMI I am still overweight. The first few times I saw guys looking at me i didn't think it was at me, until I realised there was no one else around. I'm still scared of looking at my whole body in the mirror, but when I do by chance catch a glimpse of myself i sometimes don't realise that it's me, and I even like what I see!

Ok here I go...me at 168

Hey Brown Bear, I think you are a very brave man! I can understand your fears of losing your best friend-FOOD, i felt the same! The best thing about this surgery is that you won't, you'll just learn how to control your portions and in time enjoy your food in a much healthier way. Good luck on your journey!
