GERD & esophageal cancer: not as high a risk as once thought
chilo1 replied to ouroborous's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Even if we do have GERD after being sleeved (which i don't thank God!) I'm sure the risk of dying from obesity related diseases is much greater than actually dying from esophageal cancer, just a thought -
Welcome lilmisdiva, the more the merrier! God, I feel so close to you guys, I sound mad when I talk to my friends about my "forum friends"!! Tomorrow it is then

Tummy tuck done before VSG
chilo1 replied to ldydrgnkpr's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks mp8, had a great holiday too, especially as you said I didn't put on weight! Didn't lose either as I did eat and drink a bit more than a should of. Thanks for the info, I'm so excited about my TT, it gives me incentive to work my sleeve to get to goal ASAP. I will prob be getting liposuction as well depending on whta my surgeon suggests, I can't wait -
my vsg was in mid august, is this normal?

I'm just gonna echo what everone else is saying here, you're doing great! I can eat quite a bit now I'm 5 months out, I don't know how much in ounces, but in the morning I can have a latte and 2 small poached eggs, usually keeps me full for a good 4 to 5 hours. For lunch I can have a small piece of chicken and a little salad in the afternoon another milky coffee and for dinner whatever I am making but a small serving, say a small dessert plate of food. I am a slow loser but I do treat myself with carby snacks now again, so it is my fault. Good luck to you on the rest of your journey -
Good luck with your sleeve, you won't regret your desicion! You have a lovely daughter and I bet you are very proud of her. I chose to only tell my parents mu husband and daughters of course, and a few very close friends, cause it was my desicion and I was gonna do it even if the rest of the world thought i was mad!

Joy Nash "Fat Rants"

Thanks for sharing, never heard of her, she is really pretty! I remember once I bumped into a male "friend" who I used to work with, he said what happened to you, you put on so much weight! I just answered "well at least I'm pretty and I can lose the weight, you're ugly and that cannot be fixed" I did learn to stand up to myself while I was obese, and I think that is really important -
The Nestle Nutren build up you can get at supermarkets or Boots, Complan you get from boots
-
If you get complan or Nestle (powder) those are about 4£ for a pack of 4 or 5, yeah what i mean tomoro supermarkets open like today, they were open today!
-
Yep it's a date! I usually put a bit of vaniila or chocolate flavour, I like the taste. I think supermarkets are open like on a sunday, let me know what you get!
-
Yep, I'm on, shall we start tuesday then, time to get protein shakes?
-
I'm planning to do something similar because I went a bit mad on Christmas and New Years Eve. I don't think it will mess up your metabolism, it might actually shake it up a bit. I've read tiffy and other peoplei think advising people who lose slowly to try the 5 day pouch test if you google it you'll see what it is (Ican't copy and paste my computer is hardly working!) If you decide to do it or whatever you decide to do please post, I need a challenge to start tommorrow (I just ate a few thorntons chocolates )

Tummy tuck done before VSG
chilo1 replied to ldydrgnkpr's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Mp8, long time no see (or no read maybe) Hope you had a happy Christmas and New year! Just a Question reading your TT experience, I have quite a few stretch marks the highest ones ( about 2 or 3) strat about half an inch above my bellybutton , both sides, most of them are quite low down a bit above my C sections scars. I don't have loads though, compared with a lot of people i know who aren't even fat! Did your stretch marks (at least some of them) disappear with your tummy tuck?? I', looking forward to my TT so much that I better get back on the wagon and get to goal, as I'm planning TT for december! How's it going for you, near goal i suposse? -
Pros and Cons of having surgery in Mexico
chilo1 replied to pnatalie1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I too was self-pay (I live in the UK) If I was going to go through everything and wait for the National Health Insurance to pay for it at would have to wait for about 1 1/2 years, which I wasn't willing to do. I could have gone abroad and paid much less but I decided to self pay here in the UK. I have 3 children, 1 year, 10 and 12, and I'd rather be safe than sorry. Knowing that I have my surgeon and Nutritionist at my doorstep if there had been any problems was my main concern, as I know that there are surgeons who have great experience abroad. Just as iegal said I played it safe, wish I could have paid less (still paying for surgery and will be for the whole of this year, but no regrets whatsoever, for me it was an inversion, in my health and my familiys wellbeing! -
You looked cute before but now you really do look sexy! A lovely story and you are a great inspiration for so many of us. I wish you a happy new year!

I completely agree with what Julie says because never in my life, even when I wasn't fat have I not obsessed over food. It was always an issue, what I ate, what I didn't eat, when I ate last, when can I eat next, did I eat too much, the list goes on and on.I asked my surgeon the first time I went to see him post op if he cast a spell on me, hypnotised me or did surgery on my brain and not on my stomach. If I hadn't experienced this feeling of not obsseseng over food myself, I would have never ever believed that it could happen by such a simple (technically at least) surgery, they took out 80 or 85% of my stomach, not my brain??!!! But this just proves that obesity, overweight, eating disorders are much more complicated than simple eat less, exercise more and lose weight. I feel truly blessed and I feel like hugging my surgeon, I nearly did this last time I saw him, but in England it's not politically correct, I'm sure if I was in Paraguay I would of squished my surgeon to death! Happy New year to you all!

My husband never, ever compliments me. He supported and continues to do so me in me weight loss surgery, helped me research spoke with the surgeon (he is a surgeon himself), supports me 100% in everything on this weight loss journey. Even when I used to be thin young and good looking he would never ever say anything, that's just the way he is and I love him regardless. He was concerned when I started putting on loads of weight, went with me to see the Psychologist who specializes in obesity but never pushed me about losing weight just because of the way I looked. Now that I'm near goal everybody says something about how happy and healthy I'm looking, he just says that he's happy thatI'm happy and that yeah, he can tell that I've lost a lot of weight and that sex is better now. Today I was asking what other drinks I needed to get for New Year's Eve, and he said something about "too much" I thought he was gonna say don't get too much or we've already got too much. He actually said (and it's a bad translation from spanish) that I have "too much of a nice figure now" He actually complimented me, I am wearing a new pair of jeans and a fitted top and was putting my coat on, and he actually said that I have a nice figure, I'm still in shock!!!!!!!!!

chilo1 replied to fullhandsfullheart's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The same happened to me gained 6 pounds when I was discharged from hospital 3 days after surgery, you'll do great! -
There's a good website called Insistute for advanced bariatric surgery that has a diet guide in PDF format, I would copy and paste but my computer isn't working properly
-
I asked specifically what I would be eating after surgery, what foods to avoid, when can you drink coffee, alcohol, how many calories a day roughly should you be eating when you're on solids, I wrote down everything and went to see the nutritionist with my list of questions!
-
I did rum and diet coke (left it to go flat first) with lots of ice when I was 2 and a bit months out. My doctor said it was OK, he said a glass of wine would be fine as well, I like having rose with a lot of ice, for some reason I don't enjoy white or red that much anymore.
-
I am also a self-pay patient, but maybe things here in the UK are different. My surgeon and nutritionist work together as a team, as it should be. I am allowed healthy carbs, have been since I started eating, obviously not in unlimited amounts because 1-I won't have room for protein 2-I won't lose weight. I work with my sleeve, when I'm on a stall I try and cut down my carbs as much as possible, and then I go back to adding them to my diet. It works for me, but as Tiffy says what works for me might not work for the next person. I just find it strange that having self paid your surgeon doesn't work along side a Nutritionist.

Human Body: Pushing the Limits; Brain Power
chilo1 replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sounds interesting, I'll have a look and see if I can find it. It's amazing how complicated our bodies are, and for us who suffer/ed from obesity it's not that straight forward the concept of losing weight. -
I know that juliarh has a vlog on youtube, I really enjoy it!
