Anybody Else Worry About This
chilo1 replied to lkcraig316's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was afraid of that too, but for some strange reason my face hardly has any wrinkles after losing 56 lbs!! Everbody says how much younger I look, I'll be 42 in less than 2 months but now people think I'm in my early 30's!!! Having said that if they see yu tummy they will think I'm in my 60's, horrible, wrinkly, but nothing that surgery can't fix and I can cover it up for the time being, I have no intention of getting back into a bikini like in my 20's so all is good -

You know I've stoped the protein shakes and lost 2 pounds in a week, I also replaced most of my milk consumption by soya milk, so who knows, cause I couldn't keep my carbs as low as I first intended to
-
I too was thinking that because I started weight training, only light weighst, but I decided I'm going to continue because i need to set a routine now and it makes me feel really good about myself

Need Suggestions Have Not Lost Any Weight
chilo1 replied to barb1952's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I didn't weigh myself until I was one month out, and now, 6 months out I usually don't weigh myself more often than once a month. You need to be patient -
How interesting. This week I tried to lower my carbs cause I was stalled. Still didn't manage as good as I would liked to, but have been having between 50-100 so I guess it's not that bad. Before that it wasn't that different , only that sometimes , maybe once a week I would go a bit higher than 100, 120 at the most. I did break my 1 month 1 week stall at last this week, I lost 2 lbs!

As many of you might have realised I'm struggling with the low carb high carb thing. Juliarh posted days somewhere, I've been watching them (there are 10" lectures), a good understanding of how carbohydrates (especially refined sugars) make us fat. Worth checking it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEH0OZVHmvQ&feature=related

Great post mini-me thanks for sharing and for still being here for us

Theren is no doubt that it's better, but what I understand is just in case we should take a suplement for the rest of our lives. I think one of the reasons is that there is no long term data on whether the sleeve could for some strange reason produce some kind of deficiency (which is quite unlikely), but better safe than sorry
-
Exactly, thats why it's the "refinesd" sugars and as you say the corn syrup or foods that contain these syrups. If you watch number 10 he talks about the japanese and asians, who eat rice but more than 1/2 less "refined sugars" than americans (and I suppose english peolpe eat as much as americans) Even though obesity rates are raising in India now too.

I just posted somewhere else, mine was very thin to start with, ,hair loss started for me at 3 months now at nearly 6 months it's strating to grow back(horrible short dark brown hairs) and hardly falls out any more. I never stopped colouring or styling, I figured if it was gonna fall out anyway I would still look nice in the process! Nobody notices unless I specifically point it out. I'd have the hairlossinstead of the fat anyday!!

Need the Sleeve to get pregnant
chilo1 replied to Infernored's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I'm sorry for all you who are going through this, i know it's stressful to say the least. Tiffy, that happened to my the last time I was pregnant, I had slightly elevated HCG levels in blood serum, I got them done again a couple of days later annd the values more than doubled, needless to say I was pregnant in my 40's. So I would suggest you got another blood test just in case, good luck I will be praying for you all. -
Need your hair loss experiences
chilo1 replied to 2bslimkim's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I started losing at abot 3 months, and I had really thin hair to start with, so I wasreally worried! Now nearly 6 months out it has slowed down to nearly nothing, and I am starting to grow horrible little hairs! But, as Anna pointed out, my butt looks good in jeans too,and I'm loving it -
Great video Julie, I loved yyour comparison of the scales with a GPS! I'm sure your"gain" is just water, as you say you're doing everything right!
-
Thanks so much for this link Julie I've watched up to number 8, it's a great explanation of why sugars make us fat,it has changed my beliefs on a lot of what i thought I knew. I'm going to do some more research on this,so interesting my only question is how ldo we stay away from all these bad carbs for the rest of our lives? Hopefully as he explains we will have less fat so we will have no need to overeat. I am on low carsb now, so I hope it works!

So true about our bodies being different and responding different to different things! I lost 56 lbs without restricting myy "good carbs" but now I'm trying to stay lowcarb (around 40)because of my 1 month stall, hopefully I'll start losing again!!

Co worker 3 yrs out and looking great!
chilo1 replied to Whittle down's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
wonderful post thanks for sharing -
Thats interesting GT, our bodies work in such misterious ways that who knows what's right and wrong in the end! How long ago did you have your surgery again? I'm almost 6 months now, cut the milk out since yesterday and am working out more intensly now. I did an hour of a body pump class yesterday (a bit of cardio and weights, not very heavy though I don't want to build loads of muscle) Today I did just Cardio (30 min elipticaL and 30 stationary bike) I'm hoping that this will break my stall at last
-
I meant only good carbs, I think at this stage bad carbs (refined sugars cakes chocolate ALCOHOL) shouldn't be part of are diet. In fatsecret.com the carbs come out when you log you're food in. I do agree though you need to see what your doctor recommends. As I said earlier I wouldn't recomend the bad carbs at this stage

Question about when you started mushys ... pain
chilo1 replied to Kimmes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did feel uncomfortable at first with mushies, but I started eggs when I was a bit further out cause I found them quite "heavy" to my stomach. Now I eat 2 eggs for breakfast! -
I didn't restrict carbs( did track them though and stay under 100 most of the time) But now that I've been stalled for a month I'm restricting them to see if it kick starts my weight loss again, I lost 56 lbs but have near 20 to go, so I'm gonna try keep them below 40 as I've seen people on this forum do and see what happens
