San Fran bay area sleevers
DogGroomer replied to christina420's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm going alone in 10 days. Many people go alone and feel totally safe. I'm not worried about the plane ride back because I'm in Phoenix and my flight will only be about an hour and a half. Probably won't be the most comfortable, but at least it will be short. Good luck with your surgery. -
I can't wait til my clothes are falling off me! Good Job.

Help with Pre-Op Diet
DogGroomer replied to Blessed&Broken's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I am having surgery May 23 also. I have been drinking Chike Protein shakes and unjury. They are really good. The chike blends better in my opinion and they will send you free samples. You just pay shipping. There is a thread with different recipes for the shakes and different brands and people's opinions. Are you getting yours from your dr? I tried some from a dr once and it was yuk. Good luck and I hope things get better for you since you will be drinking these for a while. -
One step closer and help from WLS mommys
DogGroomer replied to imawhodat's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I showed my 4 yr old (5 in Aug) people's before and after pics and said Mommy looks like that (before pic) but soon I will look like this (after pic) and he said um no. I don't like it. lol I think to him, I'm mom and me the way I am now is his security. I haven't told him about my surgery. I don't think he is old enough to understand that part. I'm thinking, in his little brain, he must think I am going to go away and be replaced by a some what lookalike. I try not to talk about it in front of him. He is a worry wort anyway in his young age. My 7 yr old step daughter didn't quite get it either. I don't want my kids to grow up with "the fat mom" either. I don't want them to get teased because of me. -
My mom and I are going through this together too..sort of. I have my surgery in 13 days in Mexico..insurance wouldn't cover my surgery. She is waiting to hear if her insurance approves and if not, she will be going to Mexico late summer. Good Luck to you both!

Good. Can't wait to see since I will be there in 13 days.

I am going through Successfully Slimmer with Christi. I found her by just researching. Saw other people who had went through her. She is great. I am paying $4500. $500 dep required and then $4000 the day you go. She was sleeved by Dr Almanza about a year ago and her husband was just sleeved there on April 25. I am really looking forward to going. Check out her website and send her an email. She is really good at getting back to you ASAP. She's very nice. Good Luck

Trying new hair loss product.....
DogGroomer replied to leeblewb's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks for sharing. I have grown my hair out and hoping not to lose too much. I heard Omega fish oil was good to take. I know it works great for shedding dogs..why not people. lol -
I thought the same thing, but my patient coordinator told me all drugs were included in my package price. Meaning, antibiotics, pain meds, nausea, ..just bring gas x strips..with I have bought to take, but also have heard others say the strips didn't help..I'm still taking them with me just in case. And they give them to you to take home with you too ( antib. and pain meds, nexium too I believe).

I have heard it's really nice. I will find out when I have my surgery on May 23 also with Dr Almanza

Anyone get the old "stapling" years ago and now have the sleeve?
DogGroomer replied to SandSandles's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My mom is going through the same thing. She had the bypass in the 80's and now wants the sleeve. She is in the very early stages of this and is in the process of insurance approval. Hoping she can do this because she is at the end of her rope with dieting. Good luck and I hope you get sleeved. -
Obstacle 2: Sleeve Prices Vary
DogGroomer replied to SandSandles's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For Dr. Almanza, if you go through www.successfullyslimmer.com, which is who I am going through, it's $4500. Check the website in case it's changed, but that's the price I got. And Christi, the patient coordinator is great. She was a sleeve patient of his too. -
Obstacle 1: How to disappear for 5 days
DogGroomer replied to SandSandles's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with Rev me up..you really won't be able to hide this from your husband. If you are going to leave the country, at least he should know. Someone needs to know. I would have a sit down with him and explain your feelings and that you would appreciate his silence about this. You don't want to do this behind his back just for the sake of privacy. He may surprise you and keep it between you two. I too am a private person and only my parents, husband and daughter knows and a few of my close friends. My inlaws do not know and that was actually my husband's call on that one. They can be "opinionated" at times. I figure when I come back and the weight starts falling off, I will tell them then...maybe. lol Go with your "gut" on this one. But please, if you are going to Mexico, let someone know. FYI, my husband was so anti WLS so you can imagine the deer in the headlights look he gave me when I told him what I was doing...then added oh yeah, and it's in TJ. Took him a while, but he is on board now....not thrilled, but want's me to be happy -

You look fabulous! I can't wait to start feeling better! Continued success to u!! -
I quit drinking coffee 2 weeks ago and am drinking 1 diet mountain dew in the morning. I start preop diet May 9 and knew it would be hard enough that I didn't want to go thru caffeine withdrawl along with it. I hope to be totally caffeine free by the 9th so I can concentrate on the wonderful liquids. lol Just remember why we are suffering thru the preop phase..it's all part of the process of eventually feeling and looking better. Now someone needs to remember to remind me of my own words in a few weeks when I'm having a hard time with the liquid diet. lol
