I had my fill a couple of weeks ago and felt a lot of restiction at first... but now I feel less restriction again. My next appointment isn't until the END of June.. That would be my chance to have a second fill... Uh oh..

Hi Ashley! I hope your insurance approves the surgery. I also did not have any health problems. Only a thyroid issue but it's not active or anything .. I was afraid I would not get approved.. However they DID approve me! Good thing they did because I did not have the money. I've battled weight loss my entire life too...I have never been happier or had more energy in my life and I've only lost about 40lbs! Good luck and keep us posted : )

Hello and welcome! : ) I am from Boston as well and I had my surgery at BIDMC too! The people there are really nice. Do you know which Surgeon you're going with? I told my parents at first and slowly began to tell my friends/co-workers as soon as my surgery date was booked. I didn't want to tell anyone my plans unless I knew it was FINAL, you know? I hear comments/advice everyday on my weight loss, It feels great to have that kind of support. Good luck! And feel free to PM me if you like, Since you'll be done at the same place I was !

I am still holding out hope though! lol. I am not expecting to have super toned arms, however..I want them to look somewhat OKAY to wear tank tops etc for the summer. The younger you are the better chance you have at having tigher skin as you lose weight and exercise. I am hoping for the best!

A typical day at work for me .. I drink Dunkin Donuts tea in the morning w/ skim milk, 2 teabags, 2 equals. (Sometimes I will get an egg & cheese crossiant but only eat the egg) Carnation Instant Drink (the 4 pk pre-made drinks) String Cheese For lunch sometimes I will have tuna fish on crackers but now that I am on stage 5 .. I am hoping the Mini chicken Noodle Soup by Campbells will work! Another Carnation Drink And lots and lots of Water. Pretty boring, Eh? But it works and keeps me full!

Last night we had a party at my house and I drank for the first time since having my surgery. Granted it was only 3 smirnoff raspberry coolers.. But still, I had a buzz and felt great! There was tons of food but I mainly stuck to crackers and cheese. I had a fill at my last appointment - And had to go to the "3-4 days liquids, 3-4 days mushies" then onto stage 5. To be safe, I did 4 days of each because the doctor said doing that ^ you can easily drop close to 10lbs. Now I am on stage 5.. Finally! I have yet to eat bread, pasta, etc. But I did buy a couple of those mini chicken noodle soup to go cups by campbell's. I think i'll try one today. I still have not weighed myself. In fact I do not even own a scale >.< I plan to only weigh myself at each appointment. People constantly telling me that I'm losing more weight and the difference is my clothes is enough to ease my mind. Besides I am more focused on the "size" I want to be. Rather than the actual weight number. I refuse to allow myself to be discouraged. I have a pair of pants that i LOVE LOVE LOOOVE! And I saved them for years even though I could no longer fit them. I could only get them half way up my thigh and now? Those sucks slide right on! I need probably an inch or more in the thigh area to be more comfortable.. but they fit!! I am so happy : )

Wow! Thank you!! I am ordering some dumbbells this week because i have 10lb ones and i am not comfortable rasing that over my head, lol. I really hope this works !

Good luck

Hi Billie! Welcome - You know a few people who have died from the gastric bypass? That's scary! - It also was not an option for me either. That sucks about your accident. I am sure if/when you get the band - you'll do okay with the exercise.. you just need to stay committed. Good luck!

Did your Doc require a pre-op diet?
Kelsy replied to whosthatgirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Congrats Tammy and Good Luck : ) -
Hi, There is a ton of information all over this board. You might have better luck reading through some of the pre/post op Q&A. Unless of course there is something specific you want to know. I've had my lapband for 8 weeks now and I do not regret one second! The process was really fast. I wanted it to be quick as well.. But most places (I can't speak for all) Make sure that you attend a seminar or 2 to be well informed. It's worth it too.. I attended 2 and found the information really useful. You can attend those prior to having appointment dates set up.

Hi Donna, First off congrats and good luck ! : ) A first day on stage 3 for me was ... LOTS of Protein drinks - I had the slim fast at first then switched the carnation premade 4 pks (which i LOVE) . Lots of Water ... Crystal light. I found it hard just getting my 60g of protein on the first couple of days because i didn't want to eat/drink...nothing! But i knew to stay hydrated. Also, I was a little hesitate to have anything but those ^ ^ ^ for the first week.. seriously. Though i know many people went right to the Soup and everything else.. I waited a bit longer. Whipped Cottage cheese by Friendship became my BEST friend! As did FF/SF pudding! Popsicls! And again... all of those drinks ^ .. I also had the hand held on the go tomato Soups. It was tough at first, but I was able to stick it out! Hell - I had no choice but to ! lol. I'm a pretty basic eater.... I'm picky So a typical day on Stage 3 Protein Drink in the morning. Water. Whipped Cottage Cheese. Protein Drink Popsicle Water Tomatoe Soup Protein Drink Water pudding Protein Drink That was really it for me. I hope that's what you meant by a typical day of "eating".! If not, Oh now you know that too LOL!

Ohh thanks! I think i will check out Amazon and Overstock. I was walking my dog every day but the damn new england weather is toying with me. I need something for inside the house. Besides my dog is lazy and gives up after circling the block a couple of times. He keeps pulling me towards the house.. And he's tiny!

Did your Doc require a pre-op diet?
Kelsy replied to whosthatgirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Nope. Thank god... lol. I was just told not to gain any weight. If i stayed the same or lost any.. They'd be happy. They did however just give a sample menu on what to eat the day before surgery.. It had to be a "light" meal. I had a tuna fish sandwich and ramen chicken noodles... and a brownie.. EH - probably not the best thing. But it wasn't too bad! -
How much weight did you lose on your pre-op diet?
Kelsy replied to pinkybar's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't worry about it. I didn't even have a pre-op diet. I was told to just eat lightly the day before and that was it. I was nervous about my liver being too big/expanded. I ended up having a tuna fish sandwich and Soup the day before my surgery AND i ate a damn brownie. I think that if you are eating non-stop or in super large portions - THEN you might have a reason to worry. edit: Even though I didn't have a pre-op diet, I took it upon myself to cut back and ween off the soda/coffee...etc. Not sure how much I loss.. I am sure it was a few pounds. They were more worried about me GAINING weight. The surgeon asked before taking me into the OR if i had gained weight, I said "Nope" and he said "Good, because if you did.. I wouldn't do the surgery" .. I wasn't weighed on the day of surgery either. He just took my word for it. Good luck : ) -
That is what i am worried about! I feel restricted again. It was kind of hard being on mushies for nearly 4 weeks and then having to go back to stage 3 for a few days. It's killer! But i'm not hungry.... It's my stupid telling me I should be eating. Hopefully the restriction lasts longer.

I'm 27 .. I've been overweight my entire life and NEVER had a bad memory until like the past 2-3 years. I mean at work my desk is covered w/ 293949598 post-it notes.. I really don't think it has to do w/ my weight. I know quite a few overweight people who have excellent memories and they are severly overweight. I have a thyroid...Even though it's not acting up or anything. One symptom is memory loss. I am also deficiant in B12 (which i didn't find out until i got my blood work done for the band) - And memory loss is a side effect as well. Hmmm... Interesting either way.

Any idea why that happens? I am loving this fill! I am not even hungry yet. I stocked up on more protein drinks. And I still feel/hear the bubbles..

Same goes for me too.

I'm actually starting to like Sanjaya! Well, He impressed me when he sang Besame Mucho. He did a really good job with such a beautiful song! I really think that Blake, Jordin or Chris would have the most success if they win...And Sanjaya too for the most part! I want a younger idol to win. Melinda will get a contract regardless.. That girl has so much talent. She's a natural.
