Obstructed by a "bezoar", has anyone else heard of this?
suzylou replied to Vampyrvet's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My post op instructions were similar NO Coconut meat ever again in any form shredded like in coconut cream pie or any other form I think the Water is ok it is the meat that is restricted. -
agree I tried but had to abandon the thought. Here's to our March sleevers and a big howdy to the new April crew. I was sleeved on 3/1 going back to work on Tues. No problems with getting Water or Protein in. Still get real worn out without much effort. Trying to walk 20 min a day. Have lost 15 lbs since OR.

Welcome my surgery day is 3/1 also. Look forward to getting to know you.

1 week post op - how are you feeling?
suzylou replied to SinDLou's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 8 days out, done on 3/1. Had my week po check Mon. moved me to the phase 2 diet. Did not have any trouble getting the fluids or Protein in-- using unjury shakes/soup. Have had 1 tbs of cottefe cheese at 2 meals--had 1/2 scrambled egg an 1 tbs of cottege cheese for breakfast. Need shakes to get all the protein in. Things finally got moving down below--md recomended miralax 1/2 dose day one then full dose dialy for 3 days OR colace up to 2x per day for 3 days---if nothing happened post 3 d do fleets enema. I did miralx fo 2 days then tried the colace which worked right away. -

What is the best tasting PROTEIN shake???
suzylou replied to Weightbgone's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really like the unjury I got unflavored. chicken soup chocolate splendor and the sample kit which had a strawberry sorbet they were all great. I got sick of the super sweet Isopure they had in the hosp, I made Jello with the unflavored. Have been meeting or exceeding protein goals since like po day 4. -

suzylou replied to River King's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not sure re the pouch name....I named mine Sylvia.....wonder if I would have passed my psych consult if they knew....guess I won't mention my super coooshhie big pu rple body pillows that I named barny and baby bop----got them at Sams and for anyone that is going in I strongly recommend them they are like 10 bucks and super comfy for your hosp bed.....got a really cozy yellow fluffy throw that I took too...so much more comfy than th flat hsp pillows and ugly ole scratch blankets. -
Fluid intake after surgery...
suzylou replied to River King's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am with you on not really wanting anything yet. I could have had cottege cheese, yougart, potatoe or pudding last noc but just did not want it, had my shake instead. I easily get all of my Protein in with my unjury Protein shakes mad with milk--not hungry at all. My doc like others wants to move us to get all of our protein through food as soon as possible so I am going to start today...had a tbs of coco wheats...went down fine...did not feel much restriction...but made it real thin and used my baby spoon. I think I will try some cottege cheese or Soup for lunch. -
Fluid intake after surgery...
suzylou replied to River King's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Riverking-- I have the same surgery date as you 3/1. Had my MD follow up appt yesterday. I asked that same question as I can drink water not stop but was not sure if I could--the said drink as much water as If want--with the limitation of before/after meals. I advanced to Phase II foods now. -
Loved your post. Thanks for sharing.

wow that is great!! can u share your strategy. there are alot of us March sleevers out there and we would love to be where you are this time July comes rolling around. -
I got one preop also and love it. It is great for Soups, shakes smoothies. I burned up several standard blenders before investing in the vitamix. I will grind up ice like there is no tomorrow. Post op I have not had any trouble getting my Protein in. My doc lets us have 1/4 cup of skim milk with our protein powder I use unjury and have been getting in 80 to 100 gm of protein since post op day 4. I could not choke down any more of the Isopure I am going to try making an icy out of it in the vitamix today and see how that goes.

I was done on Tues too. What did you do for a pre op had you been on liquids, did you do a bowel p rep like mag citrate. Are you still on liquids now. Sorry 4 all the ?s but if the above is true there is not much in there. My dr alsocautioned against Miralax, recommended colace first and 1/2 dose of Mirilax if used. Are you passing gas? The more you walk the quicker your bowels will get moving and getting your Water in will also help with the constipation. I too have not pooed yet but am not uncomfortable and cleaned the shoot (sorry tmi) before I went in so not worried yet. Sleeved 3/1 OR weight 216 Todays weight 204

Sleeved 2/28 and still up 3lbs from IV fluids
suzylou replied to Kelly'sChipper's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
-Kelly- Looks like you have dropped 7 of the 10 so you are on your way....each pint (2 cups) of Water weighs 1 pound. Agree with 2bslimkim it takes water to get it flushed out...sort of counterintuitive....but with every diet I have been on the more water I drank the more I lost, within the confines of what your dr advised on cc/hour of intake. -
Well March is here. I am scheduled for 830. Have to be there by 530 which means I get up to do my second CHX bath in about 3 hours. I want to thank all of the experienced sleevers in this group I have learned much since I have been reading from these posts. Was able to purchase many things ahead of time to get ready. I will hook up with you all on the other side. So glad to start my journey, thanks to all for sharing your maps so that those of us coming behind you can find our way along this long winding road. I hope that I can give back to the newbies that come behind me as much you all have provided to me. Thanks for all the information.

Oh Julia thank you for sharing. You can't know how much your story touched so many of us. I go in tomorrow for mine and as many otheres have indicated it gets darkest right before the dawn.
