I have the same thing and per my Dr he stated it was from where the band is placed under the skin. Mine even pokes out some under my skin. I always have an uncomfortable feeling where it's at, especially if my pants are tight around my waist. Hang in there!!

Constant "Stuck" feeling
hharrison replied to hharrison's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Girlies for your post!! About 5:30 last night it finally gave up and passed!! Ugh, I don't want that again!! I told my husband last night... never will I eat chicken..or not for a LONG time!! Lol Everytime I tried to drink anything it would come right back up. I finally was able to drink some tea last night.. but that was it. I just kept it simple all evening and didn't eat anything just in case. This am it was fine and I was able to eat some scrambled eggs. Whew, thanks again for your input and advice. Don't know what I would do without this forum to come to!! Have a great Sunday!! -
Today has been a horrible day!! I had surgery on May 25th and all has gone fairly well. Today I ate chicken for lunch. Not even half way thru I got the "Stuck" feeling so I stopped. I finally was able to have a couple of PB's and also threw up, but nothing big came up. Mostly phlem and little shreds of chicken. That was about 12:30p and I'm still having issues. I have a constant stuck feeling and don't know if this is normal or something I should call Dr about? It's kinda scaring me. It's still coming up phlem and stuff about every 20 min or so. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!!

I had an irregular heart beat years ago and even had halter monitor on. Nothing significant was found. I had lap band placed May 25th, 2011 and about a week or two prior to pre-op test I started having irregular heart beat again. I was freaking out thinking it was going to show up on EKG. I think stress and drinking nothing but Protein drinks, plus no caffeine prior to surgery had something to do with it. Anyways, had my pre-op EKG done and I was scheduled to have my appt with nutritionist 6 days prior to surgery date. I went into Dr's office and come to find out nurse said I had abnormal EKG and she had my chart on the Dr's desk for him to review to see if I needed a cardiac clearance prior to surgery. Girl, I was freakin out!!! But come to find out the Dr wasn't too worried about what was showing up. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Dr said sometimes it will show abnormal heartbeat but unless its something significant he wasn't worried about it. If you're not having issues with it now, nine times outta ten nothing will show up. Good luck!! Heather

I had my surgery on the 25th of May and I am still swollen!! I have that roll that I've always hated mid stomach and to me it's bigger. I've lost almost 30 lbs and the only place I can feel it is in my face and my back. Dr. told me it would take some time to go down. Just from all the trauma and the gas they use to inflate your stomach. I'm impatient and want it to go away quick!! But in time it will happen...just takes some patience. Good Luck!! Heather

When will the swelling go away?
hharrison replied to lifechange531's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery May 25th and I'm still bloated and swollen. Sometimes I feel bigger in my stomach than before surgery and I've lost almost 30 lbs. It's crazy. Dr said it would take some time to go down. He told me it's from gas they use to inflate your stomach and then also from cutting into the muscle wall...it just causes it to swell. I'm with you though, I hope mine goes down SOON!! Blahhh Lol Good luck!! -
Any May 2011 Banders?
hharrison replied to KristenC's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm scheduled for May 25th and SOOOO excited!! Finally will be able to soon feel good in my own skin!! I have about 108 lbs to lose to be at ideal body weight and hope this time next year I will be there or close to it. Yay, we all rock!! =) Good Luck Everyone!!!! -
I have Tricare Reserve Select which is Tricare South. I was approved this past Monday. The Dr's office faxed in paperwork on Friday afternoon late and they approved it Monday afternoon. VERY FAST!! I currently have a BMI of 41.2 and weigh 280 and 5'10". So I'm basically 108 lbs over ideal body weight. I had to write a letter to Tricare basically pleading with them on why I wanted to be banded, etc. They didn't require me to do a 6 month diet. The only thing I had to do before they submitted to Tricare was my initial consultation with Dr, I had to meet with pshyc Dr and also nutritionist. Pretty easy!! I have my surgery scheduled for May 25th. I paid the Dr. 168.00 for my part of the surgery and then when I go to hospital Wednesday I will find out how much they will charge and then pay my portion for that. Someone said because Tricares contract amount is so low, my portion wouldn't be horribly high. So that is great news!! Hang in there.. before you know it they will be calling you and scheduling you for your surgery!!

I'm sorry ya'll are having problems with Tricare. I guess each one is different. I have Tricare Reserve Select. They faxed my paperwork into Tricare Friday late afternoon and they approved Monday afternoon. I am currently 108 lbs over ideal body weight and have a BMI of 41.2. The coordinator said that helped the approval process. I also had to write a letter to Tricare basically pleading with them to approve me. Don't give up, just keep on giving them what they are asking for and they will approve it eventually. My surgery is scheduled for May 25th. Good luck!!

Hi!! I am new to this site. I have Tricare Reserve Select and have already gone for my consulation with Dr. My BMI was 41.2, I almost fainted BTW!! =) I am going this afternoon for my Pshyc visit and waiting for nutritionist to contact me for my 2 visits with her. My consultation I had to pay $64.00, which included my deductible ($50.00) and then today they said it would cost me $94.00. I know they said I would have to pay for the nutritionist visits and should only be about $50.00 each session. My question is: How much out of pocket do you end up paying for the surgery itself? Just curious how much it's gonna cost me. Help!! =) Have a great day!!
